Just seen an article in a paper saying you can put 3-4 Acidanthera bulbs in a 2 pint pot in April. What the heck is a 2 pint pot..seems VERY small
Pots conversion or confusion
I would just go by the name, and assume the volume is not too far off 1 liter. Maybe a 4" pot?
I would wonder if the plant and pot would fall over, though.
I would rather plant more bulbs in a larger, more stable pot. Easier to keep them watered, too.
Bramhallbill, IF it helps, fill a measuring jug, bottle, drinks carton with " pints of water and then fill a pot, IF the pot has holes in it, place a polly bag into pot first, it will give a rough idea what a 2 pint pot is equivalent to in other pots.
I have to admit, even after all the years I've been gardening, pot sizes are still a nightmare for me, it's got so bad I feel I have a mental block when directions give a pint size, I would rather have 6 inch 12 inch or whatever, that is more realistic to me, silly EH !!!!!. but after I look at the size of the bulb, root of the plant and how tall it will grow, you just seem to automatically know the size of pot you need, ONE exception being, when re-0potting into a larger pot due to root filling the pot, never go to a new pot that is way too larger, you just go a couple of pot sizes up.
Good luck. Don't fret too much, you will learn stuff without realizing the new knowledge you have gained over time.
Best Regards.
WeeNel.
