Would it be ok (or foolish) to plant a Forest Pansy Redbud tree close to the house? I'm in Cedar Rapids, IA (zone 5a) and I would plant it on the east side of the house. My other choice would be to plant it in an open area where it would very much exposed to harsh northwest winds. I have young maple trees in that area now, but it will be years before they would create an understory for the Redbud.
Where to plant Forest Pansy Redbud
How close would you plant it? I have 'Forest Pansy' and it can be vigorous with a 15-20 ft. spread. It's a beautiful tree.
