Cucumbers

Miami, FL

My question on Cucumbers
I planted it the from a pot and I transferred to the ground
I added plant stand and I noticed the flowers and already I see the small cucumber.
It is a creeping vine that goes up the stands supports or are they supposed to be on the ground?

Hi Horse727, you plants are growing fine. Is that yellow leaves I am seeing in the picture ? You should take off the yellow leaves and trash them do not put them in the compost, Cucumbers are a very rewarding plants you will get lots of fruit from them. I enjoy growing them. Personally I do not like them to grow on the ground , I always build a wood trellis for mine and keep training the vines on it.

They can grow either way, but I prefer them to grow on a trellis or support as it's easier to harvest the cucumbers and it takes up less space in the garden. You will probably need to help your vines get onto the trellis, but once they get more established, they'll get the hang of it.
