Nice, Cheryl!

You guys are so far north of me but all your plants are much farther along then mine....that just seems weird. I'll enjoy the pics tho.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

That is really nice Cheryl, I have Red Columbine and Golden Groundsel blooming too.

Arlington, TX

I got the groundel from you! Also noticed this cactus today.

#1 A wonderful surprise Iris. This is my 5th spring in this house and the first time this has bloomed. I give full credit to homemade compost. #2 Four Nerve Daisies and May Night Salvia with a gazillion poppies ready to burst.

I love the Four Nerve Daisy/May Night Salvia combo. I have both blooming in my flower bed as well.

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

Beautiful Bezzie! I killed my 4 nerve daisies that I got at the RU.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Marty, I could maybe find some for you in my flower bed if you're coming this spring.

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

Thanks Stephanie. Im really having to talk to myself about coming. I fell asleep last year on the way home and rear-ended someone. No one was hurt but it could ;have been a real disaster. So, Im not sure yet.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Marty maybe I could ride with you. David will have to work and I could drive to your house and even help with gas :)

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

Sandy, that sounds good. Do we have a date yet?

(Joy) Hempstead, TX(Zone 8b)

Three days after our RU my garden is exploding with blooms.
I am thrilled with my mundane snapdragons. I have never been able to grow the stupid things even though a child can. Yet this year I have volunteers coming up several places and THEY ARE FLOURISHING! I hope I don't jinx them.
My columbine was begging to be taken from the greenhouse and loves the front porch bed. This is my first impatients, peppermint.
Lafter, heirloom rose, and red clover.

Smiths Parrish antique. Some are red striped and occasionally you get a solid red.
Four nerve daisy. Hairy vetch with a prickly pear.
Iris, this one is marked differently from my earlier yellow.
Purple Louisiana iris.

Look! Look! My first poppy! And it is one of the double pinks from ARE that you can't buy.
More snapdragons, two of my narcissus and a hoop petticoat heirloom.

Joy absolutely beautiful :)

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

Your pixs are really great too. That pink poppy is a stunner!

Liberty Hill, TX(Zone 8a)

Joy, do you start your Snapdragons from seed?

(Joy) Hempstead, TX(Zone 8b)

Lisa, I have never been able to have anything but sickly snapdragons. Based on where these came up, I am assuming they are from some I planted last year that never thrived. So I guess they must have reseeded themselves although in just the same spots. I am hoping this is a trend.

This isn't a bloom but we never have goldfinches this time of year. They usually migrate north long before they turn gold.

The wood violets have started blooming. I started out with about 3 of these from Dennis and now they're popping up everywhere, far away from where I did plant them.

May Night Sage, always an early bloomer with vibrant purple blooms.

Four Nerve Daisy always blooms early and throughout the spring and early summer. They also have managed to spread to various places in my flower bed.

This Mexican Milkweed volunteered in the fig tree that I potted up last summer. I guess we'll plant the milkweed and fig together!

The Kiowa blackberries I got from Dennis are blooming like crazy! Hope that means we'll have a bumper crop of berries this year. Also this year, we've got tons of volunteers springing up out of the boundaries of the blackberry bed, so I've been digging them up and giving them away. I potted up some for the RU, too.

Meandered out to the big flower bed late this afternoon and found that my iris had started blooming! I don't remember where these came from, but it could've been from a few houses over when they had a box sitting on the curb marked "free". They're such a soft purple color.

I also discovered that my blackfoot daisy survived all the freezes and is coming back to life. Amazing!

More poppies, more Lafter, my positively gorgeous iris from the RU last year. It is huge! And did I mention gorgeous? My larkspur, and the front gate with Westerland and Maggie.

Beautiful, Joy. Are you getting rain today? Here, all day so far.

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

I think the first one is called Red Bonnets......Its the red version of the Texas Blue Bonnet. If it's not called that....it should be. LOL

Blue Bonnet

Some Iris a neighbor gave us that has a wonderful scent.....reminds me of Grandma's house.

Azaleas abound

Mass spring bloom of Crossvine

Very pretty all of them, the first one is called Indian Paintbrush, Castilleja indivisa
http://www.wildflower.org/plants/result.php?id_plant=CAIN13

the Crossvine is amazing this year.

Magnolia, TX(Zone 9a)

I have noticed a bunch of Wild Indigo plants this year also - yellow bloom.

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Frostweed - we lost a lot of leaves on our Crossvine this winter, did you? Soooo happy to see it bloom which meant we didn't have to rip it all out LOL.

Still think the red flower should be called Red Bonnets.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

There are maroon blue bonnets :)

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

My Crossvine didn't loose leaves, but it didn't bloom as heavily as yours.

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

My sweetheart rose that covers my pergola and in the second photo you can see it working on covering the nearby redbud tree. It is also up into the orchid tree on the right. Next is my coreopsis in full bloom. My red knockout looks like I tweaked the color but I didn't. Next is the pink knock out by my front entrance.

With last night's wind and today's rain, there are not many petals on the sweetheart. They have been raining down for a week and I think the storm finished them off.

So pretty, Marty! I know your plants are enjoying the rain.

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Maroon Blue Bonnets......how cool. Thanks ILJ

Frostweed - How long do Crossvines last? Do you know?

Steadycam - Love the Pink Knockout.....need to get some of those.
