Can one eat pears and apples with scald?

Please let me know if one can eat pears and apples with scald.

The scald was caused by improper storage.

If it is a surface problem then it is probably OK. Just cut around the scalded area.
If the damage goes deeper then you might cut out the bad part and a generous amount of the fruit around it and eat the rest. (Might not be much left)

Part of the problem is that once the fruit is damaged (by anything) this allows other organisms to get in and the fruit can go bad pretty fast.
