Your Neck of the Woods part 7 Galloping into Spring

Quote from ssgardener :
An old tree in Silver Spring has succumbed to the winter weather:

It was a beautiful black gum. I hope they replace it with a tree that's going to last another 200+ years.

I have driven by this tree quite a few times since it fell and it was terribly rotten. IMHO it should have been cut down a while ago, the insides are a mess. We are lucky that it only collapsed on something that could be replaced, a fence.

Aaaw man, that is really sad about that tree, but I agree Paul; being diseased like that it should have been taken care of long ago, and very glad it didn't land on anyONE. < =/

Probably would have been somebody chaining himself to the tree to save it, if plans were announced to cut it down.

Oh that's too bad about the tree being rotted!

Ric and Holly---

I have an idea for your granite slab. Seems a bit heavy and bulky for a bench--
but you could stand it up somewhere--like a monolith--as a backdrop to a water feature
or something like that. Make it "vertical art" thing--and add some pretty things on the face of it.

IF you stood it up behind your pond--you could take a water hose to the top of it--
and the pump in the pond--and have water flowing down the granite face in sheets.
How neat would that be? It would become such a neat focus point.

What do you think? Gita

LOL Gita, I had already been thinking of something like before I even saw it. But I think that Ric has pictures of benches dancing in his head. Not like I need another water feature.
