Pruning Blackberry bush & fig tree

Both were planted 3 yrs ago, this will be their 4th spring. Both nicely produced fruit, but blackberry getting unruly & quite large. Have never pruned either one. Will have to rebuild enclosure with netting to keep birds out, & wondering if I can keep it (blackberry) pruned lower to the ground. Last year some of the branches (vines) grew 8 feet high & out of enclosure. It is a thornless variety & puts out giant yummy berries as big as your thumb!

I have a blackberry that produces on each vine every other year, so after a vine is done fruiting for the year i cut it down to the ground because I know that vine wont produce the following year. Not sure if all blackberries are this way though.
