Oh, and a grow light!

Aspen, I finally got some grow lights this year, which I think has made a difference for the Meyer. It flowers in the winter when it's indoors, so having that extra source of light has been great.

Critter has started a thread for amaryllis pre buy. Sorry I can't link it as I'm on my phone.

I already have 4 bulbs in my wish list!

Holly---

I m SO jealous!!!
I am hoping to see some of the bigger ones (AV.s) bloom..maybe this year?
Some of them are getting to be good size.

All I can do is hope that the light is adequate and the light fertilizer (MG drops)
I do all the time will help.
I have not seen one bloom on the for 4 years now...Then again--none of the AV's
I have now are the original Av's i had---just progeny via leaf propagation.

It IS a waiting game...G.

Holly: your violets are gorgeous! the flowers are so pretty but the leaves are amazing! Number 3: wow! And you take very nice pictures. Thanks for the close ups!

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Thanks typwc, I don't have a name for that one. But you are right even when not in bloom it is beautiful. The leaves on #4 are really interesting that one is Ma's Melody Girl it came from Donner.

Silver Spring, MD(Zone 7a)

They are really gorgeous Holly!

Somewhere in, MD(Zone 7b)

Those are beautiful Holly! I love #3 (in the first group) as well, LOVE those leaves!!

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

I have to back to the start of this Thread when we were asked--"What do you grow"?
And--I said--"I could not tell you--as my house is full of plants"...

Took these pictures yesterday to prove my point....every room has piles of plants...
also to show you how my Amaryllis are doing....Big pot--12 years old bulbs...

1--LR window area. The BIG HB ib the middle is the replacement one of my BIG Epi #2.
2--LR window--closer--showing my Clivia and curly Spider among other things..
3-DR end of the room--
4--The big pot of Amaryllis opening up. Last count--it has 7 bloom buds among all the bulbs (6)
5--This is the smaller pot that has been in bloom now. It has 2 more buds in there to yet open up.
Had to take it outside to get the whole thing in.

Gita, A huge WOW not just in the number and variety of plants but how wonderfully healthy they look.

Somewhere in, MD(Zone 7b)

If ya wanna sit down at Gita's house, go outside onto the patio! =)
Mamma Mia lady, you've got 'em ALL, and they all look fabulous!!

Silver Spring, MD(Zone 7a)

It all looks so healthy and beautiful Gita!

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Thank you all--it does take a bit of care--mostly watering all of them.
Also, rearranging them when something has to be put by the light.
Like when the Amaryllis started growing--they all had to be by the LR window.
Also--when my 2 large Clivias showed buds--up they came from their winter's
snooze down in the Shop. I have plants EVERYWHERE IN THIS HOUSE!!!
I have plenty more--in other rooms too--and in my kitchen....CC's under my task lights...

YES! ALL these go outside for the summer--many of them on the patio-
HB hang from the patio roof edge and many plants sit here and there on plant stands
makeshift tables or the side trays of my covered grill. Maybe that is why I never grill....:o)

Speedie---You have never been here!!! And you are telling people what my patio looks like???
You, hussie, you!!!

1--Here is a picture of said patio. June last year.
2--And here is one from 7-2011--looking from the back lawn towards the patio.
3--More views...
4--My house....and that BIG clump of leaves on my front lawn is my Kopper King Hibiscus..
5--This is what the Hibiscus looks like when it blooms..a traffic stopper--Itell you.
It is a perennial--I do nothing to it...Getting pretty big--

This is for the new folks on the MAF. Many of you oldies have already seen these pictures..
