CLOSED: 2014 Spring Round Robin Seed Swap - Interest Thread!

Prescott, AZ(Zone 7b)

Thanks, I won't plant them next to the chocolate daisies which are about the same color and size.

Mint Hill, NC(Zone 7a)

Hey Amanda!
I would like to join in on the swap.
Not sure what I will have right now . As most of what I had went into the ground last year. And into a mouse's stomach when I had left my stash in the greenhouse over night .
Most of what I will be trading will be purchased organic seeds.

Thanks !

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Most of the ones from my garden are about enough for one good trade , others there are enough for three or four people ..
Some there a bunches of ,, Some are commercial new , can't guarantee GMO with those ..
The ones I usually have grown a while are though , organic , not manipulated ,,,
When list time comes I will decide to add the Beans or not ,, Their heavy ,,, no need to make the Birdie fatter than the Birdie has to be ....

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

afternoon ev1 sorry for being MIA but have been helping a friend out still lots to do but will check in when i can .

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Hey Amanda , I know you have answered this before ,, ; only I have this going on about #'s of any particular seeds ,
Okay in one baggie I have about 250 seeds of spearmint That about a usual package),(my favorite tiny joke ) in another about the same (250 seeds ) of Dark opal Basil ) 20 to 35 seeds being a usual package of Basil?
So this is that question about the number of seeds in a baggie ,? are their any rules ?
Yes; I am pacing about being me ,,lol

Iowa City, IA(Zone 5a)

Since there are new folks jumping I'll mention what I have to share still, in case they all get scooped up.

Eupatorium variabile 'variegatum'
Eutrochium purpureum (sweet joe pye weed)
County Fair wilt resistant cucumber
Tulip poplar
Asclepias incarnata 'rose'
Morning glory 'heavenly blue'

Gypsy

Holly Ridge, NC(Zone 8a)

I'm interested Amanda. I'll post more when I get home today.

Prescott, AZ(Zone 7b)

I want in. I still have lots of mongolean sunflowers, tropical milkweed, motherwort, and a few others from my own garden, and some extra commericial seeds too (I know I have too much thai basil for instance). I've got some seed trays going and I have red hollyhocks up from the fall robin! That's exciting, now if all that feverfew I put in comes up I'll send the rest off in the spring robin. Feverfew . . it has to be one the best little flowers, I mean it it perennial and the deer AND the gophers aren't interested in it!

(Pam) Warren, CT(Zone 5b)

Iowhen, did you already add some of the Asclepias incarnata Rose to the robin? I'm getting it next, maybe there are some still in there? Hope, hope hope... :-)

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

I just like talking about seeds and such , My preliminary list is getting kind of long , I'm hoping to get them in the Robin ,,

More to enjoy and do than anything .. If I start wondering what everyone might like I end up "way out in left field" So I start thinking kind of selfish.. lol If that makes any sense... Winter makes me a goofball ...lol Guess I should look through want lists ,, convo's and all .. just to see ...

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

1/2 to 2/3 or so of the seeds ;
I need to join ,S.H.A ... Seed Hoarders Anonymous ;; Yes I know , A few of previously mentioned that ,, lol

(Robin) Blissfield, MI(Zone 6a)

Wow! =)

(Becky), Lipan, TX(Zone 7b)

I'll second that wow!! :D

It'll be a little while until I can post my 'haves' but I'll surely have a lot of ipomopsis rubra and eryngium leavenworthii. Lots of other stuff too but surely those since I dread cleaning either! Especially that eryngium.. OUCH!! Will be going through a lot of the commercial seed I don't have a use or room for and adding that to the bird as well (lots of different herbs and flowers).

First I'm off to plant my tomato seeds and prep winter sowing jugs. Does it ever end?! I still have a few weeks until this robin kicks off, right?

Belleville, IL(Zone 6b)

Sounds like we wait for the box and then add to it.I remember in the past that seeds were sent to the host and she prepared the box and sent it on its way to the first participant. You are saying you start the box with last Robin's seeds
and seeds are only then added? Does that mean those at the end of the list get more to choose from. Not sure if I understand this.If this is correct then only those after me would get my seeds?

Kiowa, CO(Zone 5b)

Wendy...me personnaly, I sent mine in early just so there would be seeds from the beginning or like you say not much to choose from... Kathy

So far in my seeds already started under lights...STARTED 125 pots and have SPROUTS as of this am on 59 pots. So thrilled when I see the babies beginning to show their little sprouts, fun, fun, fun! Any of you that have not done so yet are welcomed to join in on the conversation(s) over in Germination, where we share tidbits of info. Kathy

Pix from last year, I'll try to get some current ones to help whett your appitites..lol.

I sent my seeds in early, too, since I'm so far down the list this year. If I had been closer to the befinning I would have waited until it got to me.

(Becky), Lipan, TX(Zone 7b)

Good idea to send them in to Amanda from the get go! I'll do that too.. as soon as it's decided when this shindig will kick off :D

Juhur, I hope you include quite a few of those for my sake! Lol! Especially the rose yarrow, spanish bayonet, great white tomato and black pearl pepper. Not cocking my leg here, just letting you know you really perked up my ears with your lists :))

As if I need anymore seeds.. Pffft!! I must be crazy!!

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

I only got about a dozen or so of the Spanish Bayonet seeds , Of about a dozen pods ,that is all that dried correctly ...
The dwarf rose yarrow I can save you about a pinch or finger full , the black pearl pepper there are more of
Say 50- 100 in a envelope marked to you ? The great white tomatoes their are several , last I looked

I have another rose yarrow I can include ,, the dwarf from me had good germination and is a long blooming plant , especially after it gets established ,,,

The dwarf yarrow and pepper black pearl are now gone ,, couple people asked to save , so in the Robin with their names they will be ..
Unless the savers decide they have what they want and decide to share , that is all for those two ..

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

I forgot ,, the Great White Tomato their are a couple dozen seeds of ;
As earlier about many of these there are enough for one or two good trades '
More commonly their are 1,000 's of some others .
Most of I have grown or have growing , I don't always save a lot seeds ,of some.
I will wait awhile before sealing any envelope destined to a particular individual , just so a few have a chance to grow at least a few of them ..
individuals choice ,
So ask about any your interested in ..
Really to me it is more a matter of keeping track of the seeds ..
As far as gas and saving ,,,, I'm down to three boxes and two coffee cans .... eeeeek !!! lol

That and making sure (i you ask) I put the seeds in the robin , I'm a little ""off"" at times

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Iowhen; I am interested in the first to above perrrty please .... I am looking through your wants ....

(Becky), Lipan, TX(Zone 7b)

Thanks so much Juhur, looking forward to this robin so much I am doing my happy dance!! Woot woot!!

I may have a few rare tomato seeds to share as well, started a ton and will be able to attest to their viability.. Lol

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

SPWD; That is StillPlays ... Are you still looking for ornamental pepper , or Uvaria .. Very few seeds , (either) and the Uvaria I have A terrible time germinating ,, have a few from my garden if your willing (or want ) try .....
AS before thank you also ! I also am looking forward to this ,, Need to make a" Seed Song""
lol ..
I did get one nice Beefsteak of the Great White ,, The one tomato I got was a Beautiful Tomato .. Taste ,,, well , to each their own , I enjoyed it though ...

(Becky), Lipan, TX(Zone 7b)

I love any and all ornamental peppers, Juhur. If you would be okay with setting a few aside for me, I'd surely love to try them! I don't want to be a greedy piggy anymore than I already have! Lol

I just looked up the great white tomato and someone said they couldn't tell when it was ripe. But most do say the flavor is fruity, like a pineapple or mango. Whaaa? Very intriguing..

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)

Hi Kids - Of COURSE there will be a spring Robin. We aren't sure when the fall robin will conclude, but I'd expect the spring bird to fly by the end of March, if not sooner.

In addition, I suppose I will start a Haves and Wants thread for the 2014 Robin. That's some kind of list you have there, Ju.

Thanks for playing. Hope everyone is enjoying the weather. ;)

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

I'm waiting for mini bags , had to find some smaller ones besides the one I have ,.
All about done , a few to label better , no trouble at all to add what is listed .
I am looking and hoping some tall Marigolds will still be in the robin ..
Next years seeds are looking like more flowers .. just trying to put it together in my mind (that's a good trick , might have to find a magician) lol
Butterfly plants and tea greens these days ..

Livingston, TX(Zone 8b)

I would love to join.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

I would love to join :)

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

When I use the small bags .. I can't write out the Latin name for garden Tomato .. I do not have the printer for mini labels , and I can't see that small anyway ..lol
Oh well ,, a small rule break? ,,lol

Prescott, AZ(Zone 7b)

The "Ghost white nicotiana" I found in the Fall robin . . . anyone know how tall they are?
I'm thinking about using them inbetween the milkweeds in the "Milkweed garden". I also have a nice hot pink nicotiana I think I got from WWK last year I'll be using, it is a short one.

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

Dee , my Nicotinana that I Grew last summer got up to about 3ft tall & about 2ft or around.
but in better soil i was told it could grow up to 5- 7ft .
I Ordered some Blue & A Pink Nicotinana & a few other seeds to try this spring . I just put over 20 types of perennials in cotainers in the cold frame :) fingers crossed they will grow this spring .

I Am so so ready for spring we have over a ft of new snow over night on top of all the snow we had last week , got plowed out on fri & now how he comes back today .
Just waded through a ft of snow to the chicken barn they say possible 30* Below 0 today

it is a crazy winter Never have i seen it this bad since the 80's Lived here for 20 yrs & we had the drive plowed maybe 4-6 times & we have been plowed out 5 times since dec 20 th.. well off to do my laundry after i shovel a path to my brothers place.

ya all have a great day .

(Pam) Warren, CT(Zone 5b)

Is it the Nicki Pink I sent in? If so, it gets to about 24," not as tall as some. It's a great color :-)

Prescott, AZ(Zone 7b)

Well, my pasture dirt is really sandy so I don't think it will be much help. 3' would be nice.
I don't think what I have is Nicki pink. It is a deep crimson pink and I really liked it, strange cuz'
I'm not really a hot pink person. I'm excited that the white might smell good. The pink smells good but it's so short you can't smell it unless you get down on the ground.

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

I Put 2-4 Pks with 1/4 t in each Pk & Then a 3/4 Full small baggie Of My white Nicotinana for all in the sec round that would like to try any . I Have no idea as to the name . so i just put white Nicotinana SYL . it smelled nice was not over bearing . the bee's sure loved it .
-5* here so far my front door is frozen so had to go out the side door to feed & water this morning .
think i will play in dirt today ya all have a safe & Warm day

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)
