She's about to... Baby it's cold outside!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Don't forget to make your skill and time worth plenty too.. Folks just don't realize how much goes into making a quilt.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

I don't blame you LK. A good quilt is very expensive.

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

Later when it gets light out I will snap a pic of the one my SIL made me for xmas 2012 I love it .
been awake since 4:30 am so I know its going to make for a long day :( may try to get a couple Dresser's cleaned out so i can do away with thinks i no longer need or want do you all have places like that ??? :)
be well stay warm . BBL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Don't get me wrong, most of the quilts I make I give away for swaps or to kids in the hospital because I want to. I love to make quilts. But when someone asked me to make them one, then don't want to pay even the fabric cost, that gets under my skin.
I had an old friend of mine ask me on Facebook to make her a king size quilt, so I told her how much fabric is was going to take. When she had the fabric picked out, send it to me, and I would make her quilt. I am still waiting for the fabric. Most hand made items are expensive, and I think we do what we do, because we like doing it for a hobby.

Susie, I hope you get that car out of the snow soon!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I've always said I sewed for love because no one wants to pay the money. I 'd rather give to someone I love. BUT if someone asks I give them a fair price...guess what? Same as you Linda, last I hear of it.

Susie, unless you already have a place for it, there are online local yard sales and free-cycle sales on Facebook and Craigs list. I look for a listing stating a need for what I have or I list for free. Sorry don't give to Goodwill anymore, all that's doing is enriching the bigwigs.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Gosh you all making a quilts for friends, that is an amazing gift to say the least! Don't think there is enough money for me to make one for someone else for money...rofl. I would like to make one for my nieces baby that is due is July. Anyone know of an easy easy baby quilt. Don't know what kind of baby yet...rofl. Won't know until the 22 of Feb. I would love to make quilts for the hospital that would be a worthy fun thing to do.

Love to see a pic of yours DeeJay. I have several afgans that friends have made for me, but no quilts...rofl. Love my afgans, I quit using them when we got a dog inside. I am working on the baby knitted blanket up on the second floor of the house cause the dog isn't allowed up there.

Ok I know the post office can screw up the mail, but I think they do a great job most of the time. Today I got a call from UPS telling me they had 2nd day air for me but I would have to meet them in town to get it because they weren't delivering in the country because of the snow storm. hummm, the mail man delivered to me no problem.

expecting 10 inches of snow today which is alot for us!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Joyce this is a quick and easy pattern called Take Five. You use five fabrics, can go together in a day or less. Available in quilt stores or Google the pattern name to order. I made one for coming great granddaughter, I used the fabric collection "Guess How Much I Love You". It was a bit more
expensive but would be darling in ginghams or any small prints also.

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

I Have a Twin Bed here in my little house & It was Just a bit short for the bed so I Had an old Flat sheet & it matched many of the Squares so I asked her to add onto it so she did . right now this is the only pic i can fine as ya can see my cat loves it also.

Another snowy day Just had to shovel another path to the chicken coop & it was at lease 8"'s the driveway was plowed yesterday & it is filled back in this morning so i won't be going to my drs office today .

so now i'm going to call JIM & ask for his help & Tools :) you all have a great day

Very sweet quilt and kitty. My cats love my quilts too. Sometimes there are more of them in bed than there are us. ;-)

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Karen I looked up that pattern and it is really nice. I found instructions and so many ideas. Thank you.

We got at least 10 inches of snow and can't see the driveway at all! we are in the single digits temp wise and the winds are strong so the feels like temp are in the negatives.... ;( Not sure how tall our drifts are, maybe later just for heck of it I will go measure. Usually I can see little tuffs of grass somewherer but not today...rofl.

Susie your quilt is beautiful flowers, birds, really pretty.

Disappearing 9 patch is another easy one to do.

I'm back after years of silence!!!!
Blame this on my internet. For years, I had been having issues then switched to a faster internet service.. supposedly.. and I still have problems.
The top honcho finally fixed the problem, not us, but them, and the speed test is at the max of 10 instead of 1 we've been getting.
So, I had to make a choice, which to visit and you all know I have Sweet Interruptions and Cubits.. and those too I have problems logging in or get kicked off!!

Here I am.. someone from here had dmailed me asking me why I don't show up.
Now I'm back with full vengeance!! You all might regret my reappearance!! Lolol!

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Yay! Always good to see you. Go Jaye!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thankeee theeee so much Carole!!
Kel reminded me that the speed now is at 5mbps, at least better than 1!! Yeehaww!

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

I'll say.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

We'd love to get that 10mbps Carole, but that's 180 bucks more a year, so I was told.. Since it's just for personal use, we are fine with that!

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

I know what you mean. I'm glad it's working out for you. ♥

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Hi Jaye. Gllad you got your problems resolved. DH and I would of been lost without.

Oh you guys those are some great quilts then I started watching all the other videos and the baby rag quilt and the scalloped binding wow....(note I should be up stairs cleaning!) wish I knew what the baby is gonna be.... then there was a jean rag quilt...gotta do that one, my couch is jean material and a friend made me jean pillow and put a flower patch on it, she made one for another friend like it and put a patch that said coke since she collects coke items.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hi Joyce! Take that plunge! Go ahead and do a jean rag quilt! Share with us your experience. I heard that one can get away with just the jeans, no need for backing since it's heavy. I'd like to do one too, one day.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

This was a rag quilt where you sew the edges together but it was lined with something softer which I would love. I suppose if I bought heavy fannel and washed and dried it and made sure it was shrunk and use it.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Joyce, if the flannel is 100 percent cotton, make sure to dry it at the hottest setting. That will help shrink the cotton fibers. Buy extra too, so you'll have enough for your project.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Oh that was a good idea, didn't think about buying extra for when it shrinks...thank you so much. Ran out of yarn today to finish the 27 year old baby blanket luckily it is make out of the typical white baby yarn with that small silver thread so it might not match exactly but atleast I won't be looing for a color that will work. Surprised I ran out of yarn way back when I use to come out exactly. Course thru the years I guess it is possible I got rid of it not thinking.

Went to our lawn and garden show, it was sad. It just gets smaller and smaller. Good thing I didn't spend any money. They had a room of orchids that were beautiful to say the least. I just don't know how they move them in out considering we have been below 0 for days and days now. Would love to have some of that yard furniture that is made of the 'plastic wood'. One swivel chair runs 300.00. They would last forever but holey moley.

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Big hello to everyone! Yeah, I've been missing for awhile but thoughts have still been with you.
Love your quilts and wish I had finished the tops I started a good 30 yrs. back, (when I was in my 40's lol) I have 2 of the tops left and know they will never be finished.

So cold here and we're expecting even colder and snow tomorrow. Will be so glad to get outside in my flowers to pull out the bunches of green stuff that doesn't belong there. (if my back will allow it, gosh, I have to do it anyway.) I have so many Daylilies, Iris, Lily Trees and then other Lilies, and then a general mixture that I am anxious to get weed out. And I also have an abundance of Hen & Chicks that I want to get up, put down new garden soil and mulch then replace the Hen & Chicks. Awesome how Winter always shows me how much work I have waiting for Spring.

Jaye, especially good to see you here. I haven't been to any forms for awhile so haven't seen anyone.

God bless you all and my New Year's prayer for each of you is: Good health and happiness.
Hugs, Faye

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hello Faye. Glad to see you pop in! Hope you guys are doing OK!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Wow... Faye!!!!!!!!!!
((((((((((((((((((((Faye and Ray)))))))))))))))))))))))
I am extremely pleased to see you pop in!! Come spring, remember all work and no rest will make you an enemy to your back! Right now, I have daffodils emerging, and no new buds on the forsythias, yet. Stay warm girl!

Joyce, when I select yarn, I make sure I pick the ones with "No dye lot". When we think all white is alike, the different dye lots can prove us wrong!!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Hi Faye, so glad you popped in, don't stay away we miss you. I loved the pictures of your gardens.

Rofl....the sleeve to this yarn probably went missing 20 years ago, yeah white is a color and there are different variations, but don't think it will be as bad as some, sides doesn't matter rofl, she it getting this baby blanket this year... ;)

They keep saying we are going to warm up but so far no luck, we haven't even hit 20 yet/still.

Well back to purging....this storage room has really been hard and I haven't even gotten to the Christmas decorations and I have WAY too many decorations. Funny I am seeing the phases of my life, let's see when I use to sew, when I use to make flower arrangements, when I use to do cross stitch, when I use to paint, it is like doing archaeology. Oh yeah along the way collecting all the pictures from all the families and grouping all the genealogy.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Hello Faye. Nice to see you. The brugs you sent are doing well. I think all except one will be just fine. :)

Same here about the Christmas decorations and we don't even decorate much for Christmas. Oh well, a lot of them are vintage so I hang on to them. I'm now vintage as well. lol.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Are all of you going to do ok with this storm heading your way? They showed on tv here the grocery store shelves are bare, I always think that is so funny, it happens here also.

Oh my brugs are doing good also. I am having so fun with the plants this winter, otherwise I would probably be so down. Nice to see things growing against the white snow background.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

The storm - far to the south of us. In fact, a warm-up starts today and it will be in the 50s by the weekend. Yay!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Poor Atlanta is getting hit big time in fact looks like whole lot of the south. Glad you are going to be fine Cville. Ice is horrible for anyone.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Yes, I hate ice. It appears the South is in for problems. Take care, everyone.
