Your welcome.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Love decorations, but I am late this year...rofl, which seems to be my common thread. I will tell you how bad it is, my DH thought something was wrong and he went out a bought me a real tree...to funny. I may have to take a day off. I think I am done shopping except for a couple of gift cards.

I am watching the Christmas light fight right now.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

we put up a table top tree this year. with no kids I don't need a big tree no more. put the outside lights up

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Even when I was single I decorated the house, people use to ask me why, well cause I lived there...rofl. Now I could probably get by with a table top tree...rofl. Things change. My Mom even decorated every year. Smaller tree put right in front of the window. Good thing she didn't put the presents around it cause the tree would of disappeared.

I finally found something to hang on the long wall over my desk, this is last years picture, cause now I have the 2014 calendar Fruity gave me in a swap on the desk, plus a pic of my DGD.

Maybe I will get in the mood mode and get started looking at old photos... ;)

Very nice, Joyce. I decorate if I'm in the mood for it and my decorations are usually a little off-beat (or a lot). My mom used to be the big decorator. She loved to decorate for Christmas. And cook up a storm!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That is very pretty.

Brooksville, FL(Zone 9a)

With money so tight and it only being me, DH and Gracie our collie, a little tree will do. Funny thing, Target had this 6 foot tree on sale for 13.50 so I purchased it but not really having the room for it, I just took the bottom and top pieces and put them together. Left out the middle and it fits on a corner table... I love it when something works out and look not too bad.

We too have a few candle lights in the window, some outside hand railing decorations, will try for a picture tonight.

I love seeing everyones ideas.

What a great tree and that is too fun how you picked and put sections together. It is beautiful. Let a lone a great price!

Cville I wish I had a decorating gene in my body somewhere. That is the one good thing about Christmas decorating to me, if I buy red, green, or white it looks good...rofl. Otherwise I never feel like the things I put together go together, now don't get me wrong some people are great decorators being eclectic (?) Mine just look like I found a piece and stuck it there...even when I try to group flower pots.

When my Mom had to leave her home and come move up here into an apartment she had this old "fuller brush" tree that all of us girls just hated. She bought it when I think my little sister still lived at home, so since she was leaving a house and going to an apartment she had to downsize. Mom was going to throw the tree away but I took it and like you took branches off and made door swags for Mom, my two sisters, and myself...rofl. Talk about everyone laughing when they opened their packages and I explained it was Mom's old tree. My baby sister and I still use the swags, too many memories to let go, no matter how ugly the branch.

Brooksville, FL(Zone 9a)

happgarden, now that is using your brain, I love that you did that, which now gives me an idea of what to do with the middle part of the tree. lol we will never be in a place big enough again to have the whole tree, so you swags are just brilliant, hope you don't mind me using it....

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Nice tree, Jan. And great upcycling idea, happ. I have a collection of vintage trees, one or two large ones and many small ones packed away down in the garage. But they haven't been out in years. I do wish I could find the one made of pinecones. Seems I saw it somewhere ... hmmm...

I do always get out the "gumdrop" tree my mom made. It's in the pictures above. I know what you mean about the memories.

Brooksville, FL(Zone 9a)

thanks Cville-Gardener

I went back and click on your gumdrop pic (I'm on limited internet so I try to say some by not clicking, which in turn you do get to see a lot of great pictures....) and that is beautiful, what is it made out of? I also like your cardinal welcome sign.

Jan

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Jan, glad I could help someone else make a swag. Nope they don't take up much room at all.

Oh gum drop trees I forgot about them, it has been a million years since I have seen one. As a kid I LOVED them, we would make them out of real gum drops,. Course ours went naked really quick....rofl.

Did anyone make one of those snowball looking candles? I always wanted one of those.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Thanks, Jan. Those are permanent gum drops - they called them candy plastic or something like that.

Yes, I was on a candle making binge for awhile and made the fluffy white ones that looked like that. I'm not sure if I did it on purpose or it just came out that way. Probably the latter. :)

Oops, duplicate post to the one above.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Nope Susie, You call local Fed-Ex and make a complaint. Insist they repair the damage and they will. Make sure you get name of who you talk to as they may want to wait until spring. I have had a similar situation and they will make it right.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Oklahoma is iced over something horrible. We still have ice raining down.
Susie it sounds like you are all nice and warm.
Every once in a while I get up and wrap a present....

I agree with siliolegma they will repair your yard, especially if he had a tow there will be a record of it.

Everyone stay safe and warm and keep your power!

Brooksville, FL(Zone 9a)

deejay9
Why are you filling in the ruts, that is the responsibility of FedEx, you just need to call it in and ask them when they will be sending someone out for the repair?

Stay safe yall in the north.

Jan

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

That's exactly like the candles I made, Joyce. Love it! :)

Big wind and rain storm through here during the night. Thankfully, we didn't lose power. They were expecting a lot of ice and snow elsewhere in the country. I hope everyone is safe and warm.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

We are OK here, got nearly another foot of snow but it's the light fluffy stuff. Hubby is using the leaf blower to clear off the cars. Believe we'll sit tight today as it's supposed to be mostly clear. Give a chance for the roads to be cleared and then venture downstate tomorrow.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Drive safely Karen.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL 19* this morning still no power but all is well .
Love ya all

mulege, Mexico

Merry Christmas to all from Lurker Katie.

It's sunny and chilly here in The Baja. Chilly still means above freesing.

My Santa sleigh is packed and ready to take stuffed animals and hard candy to local children. I have an elf helper, Maria. The best part of the holidays for me.

Van Morrison is singing "someone like You" and it applies to all my friends here.

hugs, katie

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Merry Christmas to all my best friends I have never gotten to meet.... ;)

What a wonderful thing to do Katie. True Christmas.
