Sweet Interruption No. 274

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I have had opportunities to get away from it all, but not Kel.
He's now looking forward to his cousin's 100 trees twice!!

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Yes, I use Jack Daniels Bourbon in the bourbon balls. They are very good and store well. Almost everyone loves to receive them during the holidays - even the teetotalers. ;^)

That looks like a very fun night, Jaye. Love Oprys. I sort of remember LaToya London. Very good and apparently very successful. :)

Gee, the temperature has already dropped 15 degrees since I got up this morning. NO ICE, NO ICE, NO ICE ... that's my tune right now.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Warm drizzly day at this house. My yard was nice and neat looking yesterday but after the rains, well I am covered in leaves again. Oh well, it is that time of year.

Jaye, I am sure it was a fantastic time for you and Kel.....long awaited and much deserved. Kim and I will be going to the Christmas program at the girls school tonight.

LOL sure glad you explained that JD before I started making any boubon balls......Jack part is right but boy would I have been in trouble thinking of the "Daniels" part. :-)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Enjoy your show Marion!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Yes, do enjoy the show, and I'm sure it's dinner afterwards, right?

Ice should only be in glasses and pitchers, right Carole? Lol!!

Well I did a stupid thing. Decided to trim the 2 lorapetaleums, One went well.. but the other.. oh dear. Caused me scraped arms and pricked fingers!! Didn't notice that a wild rose briar was growing alongside it!
Of course, stupid me didn't think of wearing gloves. As lorapetaleums are thornless.
Worse, I was wearing my old holey Crocs. Yes, some loose thorns got into them.
Ouch, Ouch Ouch all the way home!!
Waiting on Kel to bring home some BandAid as one stubborn teeny weeny thorn chose to embed itself deep in one finger.

Thank God for leftovers!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh. It's high 70s outside.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

No dinner afterwards.....school tomorrow, so it will be home for the girls. Kim and I will have a left over roasted beast sandwich before going and mostly likely a Dunkin' Donuts decaf on the way home. I will think of you Jaye.

Just plain yucky weather here today! The lorapetaleums I planted yesterday look good this morning when I checked. I am sure this slow drizzle is to their liking.

Where is Kathy. Worried since she said she had just gotten out of the hospital. Oh...remember Michael had surgery for hernia.....not fun. Went through this with Ross.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Talked to sis Kathy, and she had a scrape.. fall.. will let her explain.
Told her that we need to send her bubble wrap for Christmas :(

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Results in and Winston is not charged. Was reading some of the supposed victims statements and 1. she was taken to the apartment on a scooter; 2. she was taken to the apartment in a cab; 3. had 5 -6 shots and couldn't remember anything; 4. The assailant had dreadlocks......me thinks family has pushed this since Winston has finally gotten notice on the field. Of course, I wasn't there and mostly likely could be wrong but I do think it shows to many conflicting statements.

Bubble wrap....is there anything more cushioned we can send?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

That's terrific Marion! That young man shouldn't be robbed of his future. Thank God he's not draft eligible, so we'll see more of him next year.
I just got through rewatching a 2006 LSU vs Notre Dame for the Sugar Bowl when Jimbo was our Offensive Coach. Brilliant mind he has..
Many LSU fans are happy that he's with FSU and making great strides.

Perhaps we can send her one of those huge bubbles?

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Good idea about the bubble Jaye.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

What color bubble wrap?

Marion that is good news!

Jaye, you are so right about that.I have been sticking to my guns for over 2 years now.

Jaye, sounds like you an Kel had a wonderful time.So happy for the both of you!!!

Its cold here.It went from the 60's to the 40's by noon today. It will be 42 tonight. Its been a mist of rain all day.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

What colors they have LK? All I see is white.

Almost 80 here Cody. The birds and plants are confused and the smell in the yard.. cold .. rain.. then heat.. isn't good either.
Kitties don't know whether to shed their coat or put on extra pounds!

Rest in Peace, Nelson Mandela. One of my heroes, next to Gandhi.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I have seen red bubble wrap in the stores.

Yeah Jaye this is some out of wack weather we are having.

Great looking show you went to Jaye. Looks like such fun.
You all are so having warmer weather then us. brrrr . snow and rain tonight and tomorrow.
didn't go to grocery, had some other things to take care of . LOL
don't know much about bubble wrap.
watching the live version of Sound of Music with Carrie Underwood. Its the broadway play version. Pretty good, kids got bored LOL. Austin did enjoy singing along with me :)
only one room left in basement to paint.
good night

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I watched that also Sue. And I sang along and just totally enjoyed it. I thought it was exceedingly well done. The sets were amazing and the scene changes quite unique. And what a cast!!!! Every one of them did a great job.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Hope your all staying safe and warm.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning sisters.

Don't think I can find any other color but white bw here, LK! I didn't check on her this morning, but will later. I'm sure Michael has already drove her nuts!

Totally missed that show last night, Sue and Barb. A game was on, and I should have taped the show as I like Carrie Underwood.

Don't know when it will be gumbo weather here Cody.

It's warm again and I think I'll work a little bit in the garden, with gloves on of course!
In the meantime, for sisters that don't frequent FB, here's an article that will discourage you from living in China.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

I saw that on the news. Awful.

Nelson Mandela ... spent 27 years (I believe it was) in prison and still lived to be 95. A life well-lived indeed.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I saw it too Jaye, good thing it was as yet un-occupied.

good morning. oh i have the grumpy's today. stuck home with kids and not much to do. :(
cold and snowing.
i need to go to the grocery LOL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Set them down, and let them make Christmas ornaments. Maybe a colored paper chain for the tree, popcorn strings....

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Popcorn strings best if you let it sit out for a day. Stales a bit and not as apt to break. Then it can go outside after Christmas for the birds.

Jaye,it is gumbo weather here for sure.

This school system in Louisiana sucks bad.It has to be the worst school system ever.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Lots of snow here. They're calling for 6-8 inches. Farmers almanac said we're to have a wet and cold winter. I BELIEVED them! They didn't have to prove it!!!

we got some snow but honestly not very much ? several inches . Everything is closing down ? the roads are not that bad here.
got a chicken in the oven, noodles on the stove. chilli in the slow cooker. but forgot chilli seasoning... sent tim out to get me some. guess its a late dinner tonight. LOL
Hi to everyone and a big wave

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Stay warm ladies.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning sweet sisters.
Warm here, hauled all my tropical plants outside to get some of that warmth and expected rains.
I'll take this temporary heat than snow. My poor sisters... hope it won't be more than 6 inches.
Cookie, Sue... Barb.. Karen.. bundle up. Hot toddies for y'all!

I've never strung popcorn. No kids here and no Christmas tree. I know the cats will be trying to eat them!

Cody, as much as we like to think American education is the best in the world, read this http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-12-03/asian-teenagers-top-world-in-tests-for-math-reading-and-science.html
Even Singapore is at the top of the pack. American kids scored very low.
For years it has been this way. We are behind in Maths, Science and Reading. Overseas kids are pushed hard into studying, education is considered an honored privilege. So, if you think education sucks in Louisiana.. it sucks everywhere then!

The conference championship games today will be taped. I've decided to do a little window shopping at Myrtle Beach before attending that 100 Christmas Trees affair.
His cousin says it's a BYOB kind of party. So that might be a Bring Your Own Bible! Lol!

Stay warm sisters. LK, I hope your bronchitis have disappeared.

ETA: Don't get me wrong. I love America, but we've been blinded by our own arrogance that we can compete with the rest of the world when it comes to education. To me, it's a cultural thing. Asian kids everywhere are brought up to value education and parents stand behind the educators.. and education is funded heavily by the local govts.
Here, fundings are cut.. so that says a lot where education stands.
Here, in NC, vouchers are given out to homeschoolers and private schools. No such thing as homeschooling unless one lives in remote Mongolia.

The good thing about American education, is that it promotes original thought and creativity.

That said, Asian kids are like sponges.. they learn and absorb, and very rarely would they invent something new.. but then they can improve on those inventions.

I am finally feeling better Jaye, thanks!

Enjoy your window shopping, and your party. Don't forget your camera, we want to see some of those tree's please?

Only 28 this morning, pass that sunshine please?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

60 now LK. You've just reminded me to recharge my camera battery!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad I could help!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Good morning. It's only 29* here this morning with about two inches of snow over freezing rain. You can imagine what the driving will be like. Norm will be going to get the Christmas things out of storage so I can play. We don't have much room but I can at least try to make it festive.
Coffee tastes wonderful on a morning like this.....

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Glad to hear you are feeling better Lk. Now keep it up.

Oh Barb, I agree, perfect day to enjoy some coffee and relax. Because of the kitten, Kim and I are talking about setting our tree on the front porch...still visible and a lot less hassle for us. Bad cat!!

Jaye, I so agree with your statement on education!! It is not taken seriously by the students, teacher respect just doesn't exist and everyone thinks they are entitled and can do no wrong. Sad for current teachers with all the stupid paperwork that has started trickling down. Wake up America and parents.....your children are our tomorrow and it is looking like stupidity will reign at this point!!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

morning, i'm out of the hospital again and very miserable.
44 here, and not gonna get any warmer

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

It really rained hard here for a while, now the sun is coming out. Well, guess all the plants enjoyed some moisture. I always have a small tree and guess I'll be putting it up today. Doesn't look like DH will put the lights on the house again this year. Had good intentions. Now he found where gas is leaking out of the van so it will be sitting for a while. Times like this I'm glad we have the truck. Haven't done any Christmas baking in a long time so may try a couple cookie recipes this year. My mother used to spend a lot of time baking so many different kinds of cookies for everyone.
Stay warm everyone, so much snow every where. Our mountains are getting plenty of it too.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Gray dreary day with temps falling since this morning. It actually is nice to have it a little cooler!

Kathy, so sorry to hear you have been in the hospital yet again. Please, please take care of yourself...April isn't that far away my dear.

Pegi, my daughter and I haven't baked cookies or goodies for the past 4 years but think we might so a few this year. I love the cookies made with a cookie press so that just might be our goal.

Kathy please t ake care of yourself. sending healing energy to you
no i agree Jaye. Americans are a different culture. Second languages ??? . English is taught in asian schools as part of the curriculum.
