Great news about your sister and dad, LK. Must be good food where is is living.
Oh am I glad to see that I am not the only one who stitches to tight....always up the number for the hook...then again, sometimes that doesn't work. Still enjoy crocheting though. Kim is trying to learn but I think she is more interested in beading. The more difficult, the better she likes it. Currently she is working on chain mail (think it is spelled like that).
Cookie, go for it.....think positive!!!! Barb, funny but sometimes I do think we are related way back......I have been know to change and make something else too.
Sweet Interruption No. 274
Barb, Marion, my ADD is very unforgiving when I crochet.
I tend to readjust/modify.......bad me.
For one project, I'll include laces in between rows, thinking it would go faster! Thank God, the recepient loves laces. But I'll never do that again, joining holes ain't easy either!
Marion, someone has to bead in the family! Lol!
That's good to know your dad's eating well. LK.
Tomorrow evening, we will be going to a Christmas show at Myrtle Beach. Kel got 2 free tickets.
He's excited, not me. I told him that I hope the seats are close to the toilet!! At least I won't have stairs to climb!
Look my sisters!!

Dad is gaining weight because when the staff makes their rounds with the snack tray, Dad takes several and hoards it midnight snacks.
Thanks for the link Jaye, I will check it out!
As long as he's eating them and not let them rot, LK!!
I got lost along the way, glad I found you again.
Finally made an appointment to have my hair cut and permed. Then it is time for an eye exam and new glasses. Not happy with the pair I have now, I'm sure THEY made a mistake when they ground the lens,. LOL
We have a slight problem here, Jaye, I don't drive so have to depend on DH. I know all of you are going to wonder why I don't drive, I gave it a try, but when I saw a truck coming toward me I paniced and ran into a tree. Now that was eons ago and I tried it again and DH said I did OK, except we were in a large parking lot and no other cars in sight. Every one get off the road and I would do OK. Drivers in California drive like maniacs and you have to watch other for the other guy.
so glad your dad is eating and gaining weight.
LK glad sis is doing better.
Hi Cookie ! big hugs and kisses.
Pegi i m from Ca and yes they are crazy drivers :) they drive very fast.
not much going on here. worked in jessica's garden putting up some more lights. .
Put some candy canes up next to her birdbath. she loved candy canes oh lawdy did this girl love them !! couldn't get enough that girl.
will do some painting again down in the basement tomorrow.
This is what I made and the sleeves are too tight for me....
http://www.favecrafts.com/Crochet-Afghans/Afghan-with-Sleeves-Crochet-Pattern/ct/1
I started with the adult size and it went around me twice so I switched to the kids one. Now the armholes and bodice are too small so I'll take that part out and just continue with the wrap until I feel it is long enough.

Ooooh I like it. If I had that and a pair of mittens, I'd be all set for winter.
Barb that looks so comfy.
Pegi, I do agree with you. It will be much safer for everyone, if you live in a one car town.. yours that is!!! Lolol poor tree!
A trip to the hairdresser should make you feel better.
Sue. if it's a good day outside tomorrow, I'm hoping you won't be painting!
Do it when it's snowing! Ooops.. that's just me thinking out loud.
Hope Austin is willing to help you.
Thanks Barb.. another site to inspire us! That snuggie looks extra warm. What color is yours?
Sorry to read that Cody. You're given a name already, unless its sweet endearments, no other names should be given to you. Bad Rob.
Good night my sisters. Sleep well and dream of fruitcakes and eggnogs!
You can have the eggnog Jaye!
I'll take the eggnog. :)
Me too! I love eggnog....
My color is a very pretty teal. I'll try to get a picture a bit later. Got eat and feed my cat......
I also love eggnog. I always think of my grandfather when I think of eggnog. He arrived to visit near Christmas one time carrying a quart of eggnog saying " I got everything we need to make eggnog" Meaning "get out your whiskey". We had many laughs over that memory.
I will share the eggnog with those that love it.....used to but for some reason don't like since I have gotten older. My son and Catie-Beth could live on it!!
I will take everyones fruitcake instead. Love the stuff.
Good morning!!!
I love both!! But not the Claxton brand fruitcakes. Kel's the eggnog lover sans whiskey. I love it with a tad of brandy!!
Your grandad sounds like a character, Karen.
How's everyone's weather today?
Supposed to be clear skies, but we got rain. A continual downpour since 5 this morning and supposed to continue till the evening.
Prayer night tonight, I'll have to do it much later, after the Christmas show.
Kel was pouting this morning thinking the rain might make me change my mind. Poor baby. We've not been in any theaters/shows/any outdoor activities/circuses that would take us out of Tabor City for hours, since his dad had his stroke.
Mama will just have to relent and let baby have his fun, after all, I have a huge umbrella! Lol!!
Getting ready to cook Shepherd's pie. Was craving for some Cornish pasties, but don't feel like making dough.
My grandad was totally a character Jaye. He had me off on a wild goose chase when I started doing our genealogy because he was a bit of a BSer and had made up family that I was searching for thinking they were real. Loved him though. remember following around behind him on the farm, trying to do as he did. I was very grateful to have him for as many years as I did.

Went to his funeral just a month before my own first grandchild was born.
Morning everyone! I love fruit cake too!
We were 90 yesterday, but the cold front hit again today, so our high is supposed to be 49.
Enjoy your show Jaye!
Was supposed to rain today but more snow instead.
Karen, I hope your grandad meet my gandad in heaven. Oh dear, can they exchange stories.
Grandad worked at the American Embassy and his attitude was of course American influenced.
The only Muslim in Singapore that would partake a shot of warm brandy after meals. Lol!!
So many stories to tell of him. There's one of him, coming out of the shower with just a sarong around his waist.. and there I was running towards him trying to deflect my mother's whipping.. and accidentally tugged too hard at his sarong. Down it went!
Grandad didn't even blinked, he pulled it up and told mum "She's all grown up now!". I was only seven then!! Lol!
Golly LK. You've been having a weird season for sure!
When it starts snowing there, run and get some lottery tickets!!
You can keep the snow Karen!
Not sure what the temps are here but it is really nice outside.....not a really bright sunny day but nice. My lawn man came and of course I went out and ended up puttering for 4 hours. Got some Emerald Snow lorapetaleum planted across the front of the house, heavy layer of newspapers down and watered, a layer of chopped leaves added, then dressed it with red mulch for appearance. I think I am going to like it!! Tonight I will mostly likely have a party with the aspirin bottle for the aches and pains.
Today is the day I make "Grandma Takeout" for my son and his family. It is a very late day with chorus practice for the girls so I need to shower and start working on dinner. Roasted Beast on the menu..........with smashed 'taters.
Those lorapetaleums are fast growers Marion!
Roasted beast? Smashed Taters?? Let me guess.. your dgds favorite Grandma Takeout.
How charming!!
Leaving soon and the rains have stopped. Can't believe that sleeping beauty is ready before me!
Please include in your prayers that our 'snow' sisters don't face dangerous snow storms.
very over cast still and rain and snow on the way tomorrow and down into the teens at night. Have not seen sun in 7 days :(
painted all of the walls in basement with a second coat , except the bedroom . still needs to sand down some spakle area's.
i make a chocolate rum fruit cake. Can't wait to make it this year. Last year i was not in the mood
Glad he is in your past.
Cold front was supposed to hit here today, but it was 80. Now they say tomorrow.
Beautiful day yesterday - 75 degrees. Maybe up to 70 today with rain and then the cold hits tomorrow. :(
I like fruitcake okay but love eggnog (with a little shot of Bourbon since this is Bourbon country here in TN and KY). Mom and I used to make yummy Bourbon Balls for the holidays. I haven't made them in quite awhile. They keep very well. My grandfather took a shot of whiskey every day and lived to be 94. :)
Good morning Sistahs!
Cody, the only name my ex gave me was *B..ch*. And that was only once. He was so upset after an argument, that he said if he wanted to marry a *B*, he'd have not married someone from overseas. Lolol!! Reminded him that all his 3 ex wives were Americans, so he must have turned all of them into *B*s.
Stick to your guns Cody. Name calling isn't necessary.
It's difficult enough to try to live up to our legal names!!
Carole, You mentioned bourbon and straight away I think of Gary Allan's song "Bourbon Borderline"! Seriously, went to looking for Bourbon Ballls recipe, hmm... never had them before.. looks easy and all I need is a pint of Jim Beam.
Thought you'd add good ole Jack Daniels to your eggnog. I save my JD when I think I need to curb a cold :D
Anyone interested, look how easy
it is to make the balls. No oven use!
Ingredients:
1 cup fine vanilla wafer crumbs
1 cup finely chopped pecans
1 cup confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 cup bourbon
1 tablespoons plus 1 1/2 teaspoons light corn syrup
confectioners' sugar, sifted
Preparation:
Thoroughly combine 1 crushed vanilla wafer crumbs, chopped pecans, 1 cup confectioners' sugar, and the cocoa. In a separate bowl, blend the bourbon and corn syrup. Stir this bourbon mixture into the dry mixture; blend well. Cover and chill for at least a few hours. Sift about 1/2 to 1 cup of confectioners' sugar on a cookie sheet. Shape small bits of the dough into balls and roll them in the confectioners'. Store in refrigerator in tightly covered containers. Make these a few days in advance for best flavor, and roll in confectioners' sugar again before serving, if desired. These can also be frozen for longer storage.
Makes about 3 dozen bourbon balls.

Those sound yummy Jaye! Never had them.
How way your show?
Still no freezing weather. They keep pushing it back.
Show was unexpectedly good LK..
Had a fantastic time at the Carolina Opry. It was a 2 hour show, and the theater was packed. Block bookings from churches as far as Virginia helped with the sales.
Kel and I weren't interested in the dances (high kicking NY Rockette style) but the clogging was nice, performed by semi finalists "All That" from one of those tv talent shows.
Comedy skits were great, there was even a psuedo Duck Dynasty appearance that got the audience in stitches.
The 5 piece band mostly stayed in the background, atop a moving stage. Kel and I craned our necks trying to spot them and when the Hammond B3 was played, that sent me to rapture!! Lolol.. love that organ sound! Think I was the only one that clapped :(
A young man (can't recall his name) has a voice like Harry Connick Jr. but plays his trumpet like Chet Baker! Wonder if he has a mid tooth missing!
Carole, there's this singer, a semi finalist from American Idol (when Fantasia and J. Hudson were competing).. La Toya London, who stole the show.
She was incredibly good, and she had performed with Fantasia for that Oprah stage production "Color Purple" and beat Fantasia for the best actress award!!
She sounds so much like Carmen MacRae. Didn't take a picture of her. She's the only black performer, but she brought down the house each time she belts a number.
Kel's got excited when a real horse and the truck appeared. Guess it's a horsepower night for him! Lol!
Okay some pictures.
So glad to hear you had such a good time Jaye. You both deserved it after all you have been through these last few years..
Thank you, thank you Barb. Yes, especially Kel.
So glad you and Kel enjoyed the night. You both deserve many more!
