Sorry to tell you sister LK that it will be a couple of weeks more before you're back to normal. But since you don't have diabetes, you might heal faster.

Aww Pegi, maybe your family could make a drive to visit you and Darwin. You
mustn't risk your foot, even though Darwin feels better for a trip unless he can help you with the driving.

Read you loud and clear Sue. We'll be here to throw you an online divorce party when it comes to that!!

Cookie, I think Sis Kathy's asking Karen (siliolegma) whether she got her "Thoughts of You" swap box.

By the way Karen, DON'T weigh yourself till summer 2014!!! Lolol!!

Did you get your box, Karen, or had I miss the posting?

Cookie, if I'm right, the other Michigan lady has caused some worry in other swaps too. She hasn't been posting, and LK and I hope she's alright.

Barb, I've been feeling like that these couple of days. Mind's in limbo. But I managed to get one crochet project out of the way!! Can't believe I wrote this!

Cody, it's good that Rob and you maintain a cordial relationship. No need to be enemies, even though the love isn't there.

Sue says football, here goes!! Long reading.. just go to the end non football sisters!

I'm just glad that I could relive Friday when LSU beats Arkansas, since Saturday didn't go my way!!
First the happy Friday. I cried!!!
It's the qb, Mett senior night, and in the 4th quarter, he got hurt and had to be pulled off the game.
This young man that got kicked out of UGA, played for a Junior College, and Les Miles decided to recruit him, played with his heart for 2 years. He gave his personality and under the tutelage of our newest offensive coach, he shine this year. He's being hailed as one of the top ten qbs recruits for NFL. Strong arm, good at completing 3rd downs and then he got hurt!!
That's when I started crying for my 'son'.. They are all my kids :D
Few minutes left before the end of the game, we were behind Arkansas, an unranked team and the bottom of SEC... then a miracle happened. Freshman qb, Jennings, did a miraculous play, called out by the captain of the offense team, "TSUNAMI" they called it.. threw a 55 yard touchdown! Look, Arkansas may be last in the conference, but this is SEC!!
Of course, I quit crying!
Then the tears started again, when Mett sitting on the sideline hanging on to crutches, grabbed hold of the replacement qb and hugged him!
There I went again, bawling!

Congrats Marion! Yes I watched the game, and I miss those entertaining squints!!! I'd scream and holler each time your team would score. Love the way Jimbo handle his players! Then the stupid commentators made me mad when they wonder whether Winston would lose his chances of a Heisman nomination?? Say what?? Didn't Cam Newton's father 'sold' his son to Auburn??

Was wanting for Michigan to kill OSU, but that didn't happen. So that's not good.. yes sisters I was flicking channels.

Alabama game??? What was (okay I'll say his name) *&(king Saban thinking???? He knew he can't depend on his special team, and instead of going into OT, he fought for an extra minute only to give it away to Auburn for a return touch down!!!!
Then he put the blame on the players for not sticking to the 'process'. Said the long distance kicker had practised perfect TWICE, but failed for that very much needed field goal kick. Didn't I hear the announcer saying his longest was 52 yards and Saban expected him to kick 57 yards???
Do the maths man!! Even my cats can count!
So sorry Sis Kathy. I still love you, we'll be in pain for a long time!

But on the other hand, that was the only football game where a sewing machine was brought down to the sidelines. Auburn's LaDarius Thompson jersey needed mending!!! It's really comforting for a sewer like me to see a muscular football player sewing!!! Only in SEC.
And only in SEC do we eat each other up. Missouri will be facing Auburn for the conference championship, and being Auburn's ranked 3rd in the BCS standing, SEC chances of meeting FSU, all depends on the voters.
So many clamoring for OSU, when the only tough team they'd played was Michigan, and that they won by 1 point. This is when I wish the play offs begin this year!!
IT should be Auburn or Mizzou against FSU!!! I had watched OSU played, nothing like FSU!!
So, it was all day football yesterday.. and today it's back to reality but my head still hurts.
Even the Broncos win didn't fix my disappointment with arrogant (&*#ing Saban!

Sorry the Titans lost Carole.

Thanks for the new room Jaye.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

YW LK! Think I drank enough apple cider to flush out my kidneys for months!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Okay Sue we shall talk football......we are # 1....sorry Kathy. I absolutely could not believe the play Auburn did with that run back...what a surprise that was. Kim was screaming so loud that she is hoarse today. Now to see what falls out for the BCS championship. Of course we do still have Duke to play this coming Saturday for the conference game and I am so hoping Urban get his just desserts really soon. Don't have much respect for that man after what he pulled with Florida. First he was out for stress and couldn't coach for supposed "heart trouble" turns up at Ohio? Give me a break. I think it was the $$$$ talking to him instead.
Don't get me wrong, UF isn't really high on my list but still....

LK, please take care of yourself. Not a good time to be sick.

Pegi sounds like Darwin is doing better. I am so happy for the both of you.

Kathy, my dear, I still luvs you but wow!! That was unbelievable.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I love that cider too Jaye!

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Thanks, Jaye. We've gotten used to it. Same old pattern. I thought they would've gotten more bang for the buck, er, the millions of bucks they spent to *improve* (?) the team. :(

Morning everyone. 55 and foggy this morning.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Morning sistahs.
There's so much excitement watching Winston play, Marion. I find him to be more composed and better than the media's darling, Aggies' Johnny Manzel.
I agree with you about Urban Meyers. He's undoubtedly unscrupulous.

I still sad and having the tv on ESPN doesn't help :(

Carole, so there goes Titans' chance for an NFL playoff? There's another Southern team that can use your support, and that's the Saints! Tonight sister, against Seahawks.

Thanks for coffee LK. I need 3 cups for sure. Got to get another bag of Dunkin coffee... that is so addicting besides the cider. I haven't drank anything cold for weeks now!

Kel's long lost second cousin has invited us to his Christmas party on the 7th. He had already put up 100 Christmas trees!! Ain't that something?
Not all full size of course, even a teeny six inch tree is counted!!!
Goodness, I'm sure I'd see Christmas trees on the back porch too!

Warm here, and I have to drag sleeping beauty to town.
Have a fantastic day sisters.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

100 trees? Make sure you take pictures Jaye!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I will sis! I'm excited. He'll be posting party pictures on FB, so I'm making sure, I wear a mask!! Lol!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

You better not. We need to see that beautiful smile of yours.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Afternoon. Moving in very slow motion here....my fault. My DILs pecan is so good and dumb me didn't know when enough was enough. :-(

Kim is back to work after a week furlough....13 class days then break until the 7th of January. Furlough days in there also. Looking forward to decorating this year as it has been a while.

Girls have their Christmas concert this Thursday and on the 10th the chorus from their school will be doing a concert in the Capital for Gov. Scott. Abbi is so excited as that is also her 11th birthday. Where did the time go?

Jaye, this household so agrees with DD coffee......our treat when we start home at night is a cup of DD decaf. The guys now recognize us when we go through the drive thru and if it is near closing they will sometimes drop a few donut holes in as a treat. Talk about being spoiled.

Well will chat later. Hope Kathy is okay....not wanting to be bad but I am sure that was a major blow to her this weekend. It would have been to me if UF had prevailed.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Wish we had a dunkin donuts here. We had one years ago and they sold out to another company called riverside donuts. Just not the same.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

We have a Dunkin' Donuts not very far around the corner but I never go. Don't know why. Just haven't gotten in the habit, I guess.

Jaye, I do like the Saints, Drew Brees, etc. I will root for them for sure. Definitely beats rooting for the Titans. (Sour grapes here)

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Tried calling Sis Kathy, I think she's in mourning!
Sis, if you're lurking read this http://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/2013/cremated-human-remains-auburn-field/
Maybe a disgruntled Bama fan placed some bones on the field to curse it, since there are no trees to burn down? Or an overjoyed Auburn field blessing it? I like to believe that they might be one of their mascots' bones!!
Yep, only in the SEC!

Marion, it may seem strange that I cheered for FSU when I'm an SEC faithful. Just can't stand UF, even when Tebow's playing.

LK. we don't have a stand alone DD store, but the better gas stations sell their coffee and donuts. Each time I stand in front of their pastry case, the crullers call me. They are oh so flaky and buttery!!

Keep avoiding DD, Carole! Look at us, we're addicts!! And they're not cheap!

I've been trying to finish some crochet UFOs, and proud to say that at least I completed one shawl.
Here are the pictures.. and no it's not pink.. it's more of a light magenta. I shan't tell you how long it's been waiting for me to pick up the hook. Thank God I have enough skeins left.
Pardon the mess in the background. Kel gets upset as my fabric has replaced some of his books...

I guess I got turned off on UF having lived there for 35 years. You are a gator fan or else....not this household. I have seen so many of their quarterbacks over hyped and then go to the pros and nada..nothing. Don't even get me started on Urban!!

Love the shawl Jaye. I am between crocheting, sewing (best I can on the Elna) and cross stitching. Trying not to stay with one repetitive motion to long as it will cause my wrist to flair up. Don't need that to deal with anymore.

LK, you had better be heeding the advice you give others and taking care of yourself. Not the time of year to be sick.

Waving to everyone else. Kathy, we still love you so you can come out of hiding. :-)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Does a two hour nap be considered taking it easy.

Jaye I love that shawl. Looks nice and comfy.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Very pretty Jaye.....

oh my i sure asked for it didn't i when i wondered where the football conversation was LOL
not much going on here. Just painting the basement still. Kids and Tim did most of it this weekend.
taking friend to return their rental car at the Cincy airport. 3 hr drive for me . what i do for friends LOL
Love the shawl Jaye very pretty.
LK feel better soon.
watching Volo Buon Natale. beautiful songs sung by young men with incredible voices. Singing american christmas classics. PBS series.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

The shawl if very lovely, Jaye. I should get back to crocheting. I used to make afghans that started on a very large size knitting needle. I don't even remember the size now, it's been that long. I'm afraid to start anything else lest I have yet another unfinished project. lol.

It has turned warm again here. 65 today. Lovely weather.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

LOL, I guess you should be careful what you ask for Sue. :-)

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

what the $#^% was saban thinking, and the crystal nation came tumbling down. whata fool, and then towatch his little boy cry like yhat made me madder.
got out of the hospital yesterday, taking Michael for surgery today

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Whats going on with you two! Why were you in the hospital? What surgery is Michael having?
Sending lots of prayers and (((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))) your way!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Michael is having a hernia operation. Good luck, Rebel, I'll be praying for you and SISSY! What were you doing in the hospital, AGAIN????

Jaye...Blaspheme!! What were you saying wishing Michigan would beat OSU????? Shame on you!! Where's your loyalty to me?????

New subject! Love the shawl, Jaye, could I please have the pattern? Love the colors, too. I mostly just do afghans and an occasional necklace.

Got my bulbs planted yesterday. Bill has been busy splitting wood with his new splitter. (Merry Christmas, Darling :o) Had a second Thanksgiving on Saturday with DMIL. She is the sweetest thing. Sorry Jaye, so don't mean to rub it in...

Tonight is our 1st Garden Club Christmas party. We're playing the greed game. I'm taking a cute container with a bird on top and I'm filling it with homemade caramels, brittle and toffee. Someone should be happy!

Hope you all have a wonderful day.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Kathy, what ever are we going to do with you...you need to stay out of the hospital. Sending prayers for Michael today. Speedy recovery I hope for both of you.

Cookie, that wasn't blaspheme with Jaye......I, too, was wishing Michigan had won. Nothing against Ohio but Urban is another story!!! Just can't feel good about that dude....in the same class as Steve Spurrier in my book. Sorry. Have a great time at the garden club party. My club party is the 19th in Gainesville but I don't think I will make the drive to attend. My driving over the past few years has worn me down.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning! Yes, overslept.

Never wake up an angry fan, Sue!! Lolol!!!
Are you still adding more Xmas decorations to Gigi's memory garden? Bet when the grounds covered in snow, the red and green will make it beautiful.

LK, Michael is scheduled for a double hernia repair.

Carole. you crochet too? How great!! It's been years for me too, in fact before my heart surgery.. and that's 7 years ago!! Lol! You're right, don't pick it up if you're not too keen on having another UFO.
Me... I had to finish them now. :*(

Anyone watch the Saints game? Yep, they lost against golden boy Russel Wilson. I had predicted Saints would not do well in Century Link Stadium, but ... clung on to faith!
The noise there broke the record for having the highest decibel level so can you imagine how the Seahawks' 12th man helped confuse the Saints' offense and Drew?
Russel has great arm and agility for an under height QB. I had watched him threw that miraculous Hail Mary against Spartans Michigan in the last second, when he was with the Wisconsin Badgers. Look at him now, defeating his idol, Drew Brees. He'd be the youngest if Seahawks get to the Superbowl.
Okay, that's my football report for the day!! Lolol!!

But I didn't remain idle during the game. Managed to control my blood pressure by crocheting this scarf with the left over wool, and finished it too!!

Have a gorgeous Tuesday sisters. Off to bake a chicken!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Sorry, cross posted Cookie. I'll send you the pattern but there are no English instructions, just diagram. It's from a Japanese crochet book just for shawls. I tend to fudge it.
And yes, Cookie.... it's nothing against you but it against Urban Meyer, the traitor!!

ETA: The scarf was my own pattern.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Okay....that explains it! ^_^

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Here you go Cookie.
The stitches involved are chain stitch to begin with, and then single crochet and double crochet. Guess you can figure out the diagram. Towards the end, I added the LIGHT FUSCHIA/MAGENTA lol for contrast. Then finish the last few rows my own way!

The book is old as you can see, bought that in Singapore in the 70s.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Guess I won't be trying that!!! LOL! I'm a follower of patterns, I'm not an eye to hand kind of gal!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh, come on now Cookie, I bet you could do it!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

It's easy Cookie. I agree with Marion, as smart as you are, you can do it!
The little round things are chain stitches.
The x is single crochet.
The T with a bar across is double crochet.
Starf from the center with 3 chain stitches, join the last c to the 1st c, turn, 8 cs, then do one dc picking up from the middle original 3 cs. 5 cs, one dc picking up from the middle original 3sc.
Next row, 8 sc, join to the 3rd sc from the dc, 5 sc, dc to the top of the first row dc. You got your 'spine' there.
And I'm sure you can follow the diagram.
I find this much easier than reading patterns.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Nice scarf Jaye.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thanks LK. Do you crochet? I believe sis Kathy does.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Just simple things like granny squares. Wish I could do things like that shawl.

My Sister is home. She went home day before thanksgiving and is so glad to sleep in her own bed. She still has a wsys to go but it will take time. She will be walking with her walker for awhile. Plus dhe has not gotten sick to her stomach in about a week now.
Thanks for all your prayers.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Amen!!! Praise God that she's home LK. That is one huge relief for you.
If you can do granny squares that require the same stitches, you can do anything LK!
I'd try anything that doesn't require starching afterwards.
Only problem I have is my tight stitches. Always have to use a bigger hook that what the pattern calls for.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

We'll see....but I'm doubting it!!!

LK, good to hear about your sister...how is your Dad doing?

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

That is wonderful Linda Kay!!!! Maybe by being home in her own bed she will really take off with the healing!!!!

I crochet and I, too, need a pattern. I'm just finishing up a blanket for over me in the evenings watching TV. It started out as a snuggly but it is too tight through the arms. So I will make a blanket out of it instead.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Dad is doing good. My Sister just told me he needs new shirts as he is gaining weight. So I will find him some for Christmas.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Wow! That sounds like good news! You planning on making the trip North any time soon?
