Strawberry

Gramercy, LA

Planted my Strawberry Plants about 6 weeks ago, pinch off the flowers to give the roots a chance to develop. I will continue to do this for several weeks. My strawberry season last until June should start picking berries in Jan.

We only pick off blossoms when they turn red. They are delicious! I never could see any benefit of picking blossoms.
What variety do you plant ?
We use Seascape.

I am growing Camarosa variety. We have to grow new plants every year because of the heat in South Louisiana. Picking off the flowers at this time of the year will give the plants stronger roots and larger crop in the spring. I should start picking berries from Jan. to June.

Your plants look really good and healthy.

Ours freeze out in these beds, so will also start new every spring.
