Elephant Ears or Caladium

Morningside, MD

Hello everyone....
Back in April or May, I planted two bulbs which is an elephant ear or caladium in two separate pots.... I'm not exactly sure what it was but when it started to grow...there was pink veins in it.... The pots were outside all summer....and grew very slowly.... They never got much taller than the pot. They weren't dying or unhealthy or anything....just slow growing. When it started to get cold, I brought them in the house and put a plant light on them.... They are growing like crazy now towards the light....and most of the pink veins are all gone.... They are all green now. I'm curious to know why they didn't grow like this outside in the sunlight....but grew like they were on steroids in the house? It's great to see them so happy and healthy but I'm just so curious why they were so slow growing outside....and why the pink veins left. Any help is much appreciated! Thank You!

It sounds like Caladium with the pink veins. If there was too much sun outside, the leaves would not be as big. Also, as the bulbs mature, the leaves will get larger, until they reach their potential.

A good photo of the leaves and whole plant would be helpful. Caladium is one possibility.
