My hostas are looking really bad. We've had some frosts. Can someone tell me if this is normal foliage decline for hostas heading into winter? I've been concerned about the hosta virus.
is this normal foliage decline for hostas or a disease?
Either could be the normal way they go dormant. The first looks like it got hit suddenly by frost, the other looks like it had some warning and has started pulling the nutrients that it can back into the root system for storage.
looks like normal fall growth as it goes into dormancy. It will completely die down soon to the roots. All top growth will be dead and can be removed once dead. new growth will emerge in spring.
Thanks so much!
