Agave Parryii

I have a huge Parryii that was attacked over the summer by grubs while I was away. I just dug it up, easily since the roots were eaten. There was sign of rot going on, so I removed the dying parts and cleaned off the bottom. It had been sprayed once and there are no living grubs anymore. Can I save it by cleaning the bottom root base with something and replant it? Is there a chance it can recover?

Hi there! I would post your question in Cacti/succulents as well.

I'm a novice, but I'm almost certain there is a way to save your Agave if there are any viable roots left. Keep it dry in the meantime. Seriously, post in the aforementioned forum. Lots of Agave pros there! Good luck! Love that species!

You probably can save it. It would be about like rooting a cutting.
I would dip it in rooting hormone and pot it into something that you can protect from the grubs for a year. Fast draining soil. Then, after a year of recovery, plant it next fall in the garden.
