Last one! Orchid

Oklahoma City, OK

I have no idea if these weird things growing out of this thing is normal. Any suggestions on what I should be doing?

I have no idea or experience either however I understand that many orchids grow on decayed stumps or trunks of trees or other plants ,
Could that be what that plant is trying to do ?
I find that interesting ,,

Not sure what you are referring to as weird things but I think you are talking about the new roots. I water mine about once a week and have had one in its 4th year that has bloomed every year (which is good for me). Do not keep it soggy wet.

hcmcdole is right, it is a root and when it first happened to me I got so excited I thought it was the start of a flower stem, now mine has many roots and they stick straight up, looks a little weird but dont cut them I was told by someone on this site.

hcmcdole , do you fertilize yours?

Powder Springs, GA(Zone 7b)

I haven't so far fertilized them. The one I got 3 years ago (Walmart) has bloomed each year so far and it is in the same container it came in. It's a bit moth eaten this year from putting it outdoors but I am hoping to see bloom buds this winter again. It is the third photo and is deceiving since a small pot of begonias is actually in front.

The first one is a Miltonia and is on its second bloom cycle. The second one is a Sam's Club buy and will be a year old this winter. Second and third ones are Phalaenopsis (moth orchids)

agreed the original plant looks like a healthy orchid (probably Phaelenopsis) growing new roots= good news. You might see a green bud of flower stem emerge between the leaves.s. it takes months to grow and bloom but once blooms open they last a very long time.
