My apples get soft from inside and when they fall, they are mashed. What is wrong?
Unusual apple problem
sounds like water too much at the right time, and overripe?
I know there are many things that can cause fruit to be damaged from the inside and looks not too bad on the outer skin, anything from a moth, beetle, caterpillar, to some form of canker disease. But to be on the safe side, IF I were you' I would search on the site for the fruit section as there are bound to be gardeners with experience on the subject closer to your home area, that way you will be more inclined to get a real picture of any fruit mal-function going on in your neighbourhood, AND the best remedies to solve the problems for next season, I think it's too late to save the crop this fall, IF you store the fruit normally, please don't do it with this crop as it will spoil ANY good Apples you already have.
Hope this can help set you onto the right track as there is nothing more annoying after getting a good crop of fruit of any type and finding as you bite or cut into it, the fruit is beyond saving or even cooking with.
Wish I could help you further.
Good luck and Best Regards.

Hello. thanks for both responses. Actually, I don't think it is overwater. They appear to be overripe inside the apples. I lost most of the crop of fruit.
Weenel, thanks for the advice. I am new to the site, so I guess I just have to find my way around to find the fruit section. I am also going to the nursery and show them the picture. Maybe they could identify the problem.
Happy Gardening!

Hi Again purpleprincess, if you go to Communities (top of Home page) then click on forums, there is a list of all different forums available on the site, but you look under beginners fruit and maybe on that forum there will be people who will be delighted to help you out or give you another place to get your problem solved sooner rather than later.,
I have given my method of finding forums but I bet someone else will be able to give a better way to reach your destination for beginners fruit forum, LOL, I'm not going to get any prizes for computer skills LOL.
Best of luck and kind Regards.
WeeNel.
