I think this is Japanese Wax Scale, but I'm not sure. Can anyone confirm it or set me straight? (Spotted on the stems of salvia guaranitica).

if the plant isn't too big, you could always spray with a generic cooking spray (like pam). it's great in a pinch but any oil based product will burn the leaves if the sun is out.
