in the two first (sorry not so clear) you can see a different white colour inside the plant...there are four side by side as you see in the third pic...all the same problem perhaps? is a disease or something natural to the season (Autumn)
Thanks
Tuja's problem?
Very common for the inner foliage to die like that. If the visible parts (The parts exposed to light) are healthy green then I would not worry about it. The plants normally won't keep chlorophyll etc in foliage that has no use for it. The outer growth is so dense it shades out the inner growth.
really? Thanks Diana_K... by the way , anyone knows what kind of Thuja is?
There is one species, which has LOTS of varieties, very common in the US.
Thuja occidentalis, American Arbovitae.
There is another species, less common, but still common enough, also lot of varieties.
Thuja plicata, Western Red Cedar.
Both species have many selected varieties that grow more compact, and more shrub-like than the species. Some are relatively narrow (often with the word 'fastigiata' in the name).
There may well be other species in Europe.
I see a young fruit on the first picture. That white ball like thing with a few prongs.
If you allow that to ripen it might help with ID. It will ripen into a red-brown, dry thing that opens with several wings.
Thanks for the answer Diana_K!...i can see we are in the same hardiness zone!..as for the Thujas i will find some more clearly photos i have from the past , and post them into the forum where they ID plants here.
Thanks
