Fall Round Robin Seed Swap 2013 - Haves and Wants

Brooksville, FL(Zone 9a)

When I lived up north this was my first year of winter sowing, by the time I finished I ended up with 120 milk jugs, and wouldn't you know everyone of them sprouted seeds......LOL like to killed myself trying to get them planted through the summer.

Evelyn - I just spotted your request for the 3 Moonflower seeds, Shasta daisies, and black hollyhocks. I will get them packed up for you today so I don't forget.

Now that the robin is about to take-off I think I should go through my "share" stash and make sure it is in order. I'm glad to say there isn't too much left in there, except for enough Asclepias curassavica, fennel, and marigolds to seed all of California.

I do have 5 new catapillers in my yard this week and I found a itty bitty one in the bag of seed I collected yesterday. I'm planting at least an area the size of one of those tri-pod waterers in Asclepias next year. It's one of the few plants the deer don't bother.

Dee,
friend of bees and butterflies

Dee ~ Well, then...maybe I could also have a pinch of your milkweed. Ju has sent me some and Amanda will be, too. I am hoping to have a new patch of ground just for the assorted milkweeds so I can attract more butterflies. The bees are very happy with the rosemary plants all around as it seems as though one starts blooming when the other ones stop.

And the deer don't eat them, though occassionally they will clean their antlers with them, so there will be branches lying about. What is nice about rosemary is if it is either deer damage (slight) or my pruning (sometimes severe), they always fill in nicely. In this climate, I just can't go wrong with this plant. But me, I need a variety of plants. They don't seem to attract the butterflies much though....

Pam ~ I am sorry; I am out of Chimney Bellflower.

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)

Hey everybody:

I'm still posting from the road - I'm going to make it easy on myself and ship the Robin in the morning.

Our weather has turned bad this afternoon, and I'm working myself into an anxious mess with some road rage on top.

Pam - my intention was to ship to Lanakila. However, I haven't heard from her for a while ... This is where the phone number comes in handy. But see I don't have one of those for her either. :/

Will see if I can get her tonight.

Thanks for playing.
A.

Amanda, OK, no problem, I'll wait until you're sure where it's going :-). I'm happy to be a part of your inaugural hosting, lol.

Evelyn, I thought that might be the case. Do you still have pink lupines? They sound lovely.

(Robin) Blissfield, MI(Zone 6a)

PM, do you have you any spare Sunflower Cinnamon Sun and Italian White? I'd really love some if you do! Thanks.
Robin

(Robin) Blissfield, MI(Zone 6a)

Jan, nice job...this is my first year winter sowing. What do you do with the milk jugs after they're planted, taped and labeled?

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)

We had snow on my way back to the house!!!

Brooksville, FL(Zone 9a)

Mipii

They sat out on the back porch during the winter. That was the beautiful of WS, once you get the jugs cut, (that was the worst), then I put coconut coil inside, then the seeds, number the jug, log into my sheet, then tape, then set outside. A lot of work up front, but when spring comes and they all start sprouting it is so exciting.

Jannnnn

Prescott, AZ(Zone 7b)

Evelyn,
By the time the robin gets to me I'll have several types of butterfly weed. I'll put a little of each in for you. I was going to say "wow, you are really out in the sticks" but after looking at Google maps I've decided you're in a really nice area, even if it is in the sticks, LOL. You're after me in line so you'll have first pick of my seeds. I'll put some in I think you might want and then if you don't you can just leave them in the robin.

The weather is changing here too. I'm madly trying to get my flower garden cleaned up before the rain hits. I don't use many chemicals in my yard, but I do use pre-emergent in the rock pathways in Fall. I have so many weeds germinating now that the ground isn't drying out.

(Robin) Blissfield, MI(Zone 6a)

Thanks so much for sharing your expertise Jannnnn!

Prescott, AZ(Zone 7b)

A note to all of those in front of me in line for the robin. I have more seed to add when it gets to me if need be, take what you want of those labeled "Domehomedee". I still have lots of seed to share and this is my last trade for the year.

Sierra Foothills, CA(Zone 8a)

Dee ~ Thank you very much for your generosity! ^_^

Sierra Foothills, CA(Zone 8a)

Amanda ~ It's gonna' be OK...really! I know you are trying your best to make it perfect, but we are not out for perfect, but for fun and gardening.

Please relax, you are in front of millions of people, but none of them are dressed! Um...properly.... ^_^

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Evelyn'' That's all right ! because their all hidden by all the foliage and blooms !!!^_^
Apology -- I just had to )^_^

That's pretty darn funny!

Thanks Pam, I noticed I shortened your name...I must've thought 3 letters were too many...I can be an idiot without provocation. Is there anything I have you'd like?

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)

Ha ha ha - you are all a bunch of jokesters.

I was then fretting because I hadn't heard from Lanakila yet.

Thought about calling Susie and saying" what do I do!?"

But the point is that I do not have her telephone number. And I haven't heard from her. Therefore if I don't hear from her by 4:00 p.m. today I will ship to the next person on the list.

I guess I need to start that new thread, but not till she ships!

Ahoy!

Who's next in line?

A.

Brooksville, FL(Zone 9a)

Amanda,

If you don't hear from her at the appointed time, ship to the next, in the meantime should she contact you, she can be added to the end of the ship order, as were we doing a 2nd round?

not to fret so much, we most certainly appreciate what you are doing and trying to do when you don't hear back.

All is good, lets get that baby in the mail......

Jan

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)

Oh yeah - it's just fine. I'm home today, the sky is blue. :)

Traffic yesterday was just a beast, and the snow - heard this morning it's the earliest recorded in NC history. In this region anyway.

Lanakila will get it last if I don't hear from her. Then it will come back to me, and the second round will commence!

I just stepped away from the machine for a couple of minutes when the crazy neighbor lady rang the bell. My computer took that opportunity to restart itself (wicked, wicked!!!) and I lost what was the start of the new thread. :D

I'm telling ya'!

No end to the shenanigans here. The eyeball kitty now has oral antibiotic and ointment antibiotic/steroid for both eyeballs. What a drag. Afraid the other cats will get it - it's essentially the cat flu. He's in a crate in the kitchen. Wonder if I have to lock him up in my bedroom. It's a damned revolving door.

Will check back later.

A.

Brooksville, FL(Zone 9a)

take care when treating the cat that you don't get it. Hope you are wearing gloves when administering the ointment.

Amanda ~ Do you have enough Eupatorium rugosum 'Chocolate' to spare? Or is it too late?

(Robin) Blissfield, MI(Zone 6a)

Evelyn, I'm putting some Eupatorium 'Chocolate' into the Robin, do you want your name on some?

Sierra Foothills, CA(Zone 8a)

Oh, yes please! Thanks a bunch! ^_^

(Robin) Blissfield, MI(Zone 6a)

Done!

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)

I put some in there too.

Sierra Foothills, CA(Zone 8a)

Thank you, Amanda!

Open sesame. :D

Sierra Foothills, CA(Zone 8a)

Amanda ~ You are such a sweet genie! ^_^

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)

Salami, salami, baloney. :D

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Why was this thread opened again?

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)

Because Evelyn wanted to amend her haves and wants. Sorry for any confusion.

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Well then I guess the amend has been( "Amen" ed ) and this thread is given an amen .
(sigh) Time to let it rest in peace ..... for winter anyway ....

Sierra Foothills, CA(Zone 8a)

OMG!! I did not think that everyone would make such a big deal out of this. I thought that everyone would want to use this thread for "haves and wants", not just me.

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

We are playing , we are bored , lol , but then such as it is , might be only me ,myself , and I , that are bored , Of course if I (we) invited the id, the erg , and the ergo , we would have a little less than half of (we) gathered ...

Hi Evelyn , as previous , us , we , and the many , are playing ,,lol enjoy

By the way ,
I don't know which I would like more a new Mercedes (which phones of phony are trying to sell me , all the time) or a good old fashioned hot pad for my cold winter feet ..(which I don't seem to have a the moment.)
Oh well . I'm still cleaning seeds , see,,, I did remember what this is about ...
