I live near West Houston, TX. My Arapaho and Ouachita blackberry plants seem to be growing and producing well out of all my varieties under the same conditions. As for others, they seem to be growing but I haven't been experiencing the amounts of yields that I hoped to.
I have about 4 Triple Blackberries that are about 2 years old and I have not had any flowers or production from them. They seem however to grow well and are very vigorous. I've also had a very small amount of berries grow from my 2 Natchez and 8 Thornless Boysennberry plants and I'm not sure why.
I believe these all have been getting enough water and fertilizer. The only reasons for poor yield I can come up with are due to the summer heat, lack of chill hours, or lack of shade cover for these specific varieties. Please let me know your thoughts and any recommendations if you have any?
