Here is my gollum jade - about 2-3 years old and doing really well, it is in biobizz all mix potting soil and some extra added perlite.
Was wandering weather or not i should keep it in the same pot next year with some fresh soil or splitting it in to two pots ?
Any tips or suggestions.....
Hows my Gollum Jade Doing ?
It looks very healthy Hensh!(In my experience any way, lol). As for potting, I don't think a refresh of the soil would hurt, but if you find it is potbound, then splitting or moving to a larger pot is a good idea.
Best of luck with it!
Thanks Bloomfly22
Think im gonna leave it in the same pot as its doing well - dont think it will be pot bound yet as succelents tend not to have shallow roots from what i have seen.
Your jade looks lovely. It also looks like there's plenty of room left in the pot still, so if it were mine, I wouldn't be ready to repot yet.
Jade plants do not have a large root system and can stay in the same pot for many years. The bigger problem is the plant gets top heavy for the pot size (which is adequate for the roots) and keeps tipping over. They also do fine with very little water. They do like at least a bright light. I put mine outside for the summer.
This particular jade grows very slowly. Mine is probably about 10 years old and has happily been in the same pot for about the past 5 years. Its about 12 - 14 inches tall and the stem is about 1+ inch in diameter. I like this one because it does grow slowly and stays small with little care.
Have fun with your plant and don't plan on moving it to a new container anytime soon.
