THE COCONUT WIRELESS CHAT THREAD NO.5

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

Hi Rj.....

Guess what...Im' MOVING to Chicago this Friday. Got a place at The Clare and I am very excited to live the big city life. Maybe see you there?

Baytown, TX(Zone 9a)

Good to see everyone!

We are OK. My garden looks like a jungle. With all of the rain everything has really grown. We even have bananas on one of the trees that is hanging over the fence in the neighbor's yard. If I try to get it back over here it will just break, and then no bananas!

Randy, that purple plant that you gave me has spread from the end of the house to my patio, at least 24 feet. It is just everywhere! It is so pretty.

The purple, and white Rose of Sharon are in bloom, as well as the Angel's Trumpet's.

My blood has dropped to 10, so I get iron again tomorrow. I need to call the Dr. at Baylor and make an appt again.

Guess this is all of the news. Just renewed my membership so I can keep up with all of you!

Take care,
Jeanne

I just got my new computer hooked up and working. I'm in hog heaven finally. lol. I have a lot of catching up to do and have to get my programs from the old computer downloaded on here but all in all I'm getting back at it.

Delray Beach, FL(Zone 10a)

Aloha.

Congrats on the new computer. And the fun begins: re-installing a truckload of programs, providing you still have the installation CDs and the key code to activate them: glorious. And let us not forget that they all will need to update themselves. Oh the wait, Oh the joys! Best of luck with all that. D-mail me if you run into troubles. I'll try to help.

It's sunny, muggy and no wind here this morning. We got quite the drenching yesterday with light and sound show to boot. Everything is nice and green. The adeniums are NOT having the time of their life, but they are exceptional plants that sulk for a while, lose all their leaves, get over it, grow leaves again and bloom. That attracts butterflies who lay eggs in there and the caterpillars defoliate the plant quicker than you can spray BT on them. Still, I love my adeniums because they are such a roller coaster ride: happy one day, bang your head against the wall the next. Who could ask for anything more?

Take care, everyone.
Pu'ole.

Virginia Beach, VA

Good morning,

We are in Oxnard California to attend a wedding, our God son is getting married and so we decided to play golf while we are here.

My clubs did not make the connection but Fedex will deliver tomorrow in time for Wed, thursday and friday games.

It is cool here and i hope it is not too cold for my summer outfits.

I am hoping to eat a lot of seafood while we are here. We have a full kitchen at the Navy Lodge. It was a wise decision since the area hotels are very pricey.

We had problems with our car rental, we were late and when we went to the rental place the price was tripled and ended up with budget.

Have a good day!!!!

Hi all.
Happy, Chicago? I moved back to Houston as soon as my 1 year was up. Had fun there, but It's too cold for me!

Delray Beach, FL(Zone 10a)

I'm sure a lot of people in Chicago will miss you. How has your garden fared in your absence?

Sylvain.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

I did do a little gardening, but this is what it looked like too often, my poor metal flower sculpture.

It's back to normal now, luxurious jungle, seeing things I haven't seen since the drought. Ironically the tree fern made it through freezes, snow, Hurricanes, drought...but not renters' rip.
Been busy trimming down the pond area today to keep up with the changing sun position.

I know, RJ, should not give up the FL temp, but my husband passed away 3 months ago and I was all alone. My daughter lives here, three blocks from me, and I am as happy as a clam.

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Happy, glad you're "happy" in Chicago. lol

I've been busy getting ready for winter here. I need to get some pots buried so they will have a better chance of surviving winter without me watering all the time. Tender stuff is brought in, just needs trimmed or sprayed with soap.

Main thing now is I'm dealing with selling my old truck and waiting on necessary paperwork for my new(er) truck so I can finish fixing some little things on it.

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

Thanks, Pepper, I am more than Happy.

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh sweetheart. So sorry to hear of your husband's passing. Facebook? DG? somewhere I thought I read you had moved to Chicago and I couldn't make sense of it. I apologize that I have been so late in learning of your sorrow. As always, prayers for God's Grace to cover you. Haven't checked DG in awhile. Still love the friends I made on these forums more than anything. More meaningful and intimate than FB.

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Never any end is there Pepper? Either getting ready for Spring, trying to figure out how to survive Summer, welcoming Fall while being terrified of just what all might I loose this Winter.

All true gardeners are optimist......always expecting the next season to be the very best ever.

Randy, couldn't be happier for you now that you are back in your own nest. I haven't given up on a visit. Daughter is now scheduled for reconstruction surgery on her knee this coming Wednesday. She is in pure agony and I hope she gets through it this time.

She has custody of her grandchild (8 yrs) and Mike and I will assumer full responsibility for the next 2 months.

Mike has had one knee replacement and says as soon as Kelly is ensconced in rehab he is going to start the wheels to have the other done. He is almost totally incapacitated.

Now we are no longer anywhere near young and our health is getting worse by the day. He just turned 74 and I will be 73 on the 23rd of this month. I avoid the mirror or I wouldn't need the calendar to know that.

Please don't think this is a missive of complaint. Just sort of a list of "as is".

Happy, I am sorry that I am complaining. Sorry that you are now alone.

Ok Sylvain, Jen, and dozens of others.......your turn.

Never forget I love you each of you and God has blessed me with your friendship.

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Did I run everyone off? Daughter's surgery was delayed 3 times. Finally got it done and she is recuperating. Mike had his second knee surgery this past Tuesday. Not a happy camper because he is still in the hospital with a week (at least) of rehab in another facility. (That is Mike that is unhappy).

Nothing interesting happening here on the ole homestead. Doctor's appointments seem to be the order of the day.

Sure wish things were like before......love to all.

Been pretty busy here. Work is hopping due to Christmas being near and my days off seem to fly by before I can get anything done. lol.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Na, been busy. Hope Mikes recovery is going well. Have other friends with replacements going on. Remember when we use to talk about plants? Lol, it is close to winter after all. Been sweeping and blowing oak tree nuts off deck daily. It involves periodic cussing! Pictured in morning, then noon, back to photo 1 in evening.
Was talking with Wayne at zone9 sat eve and the awesome garden parties we had here. Made me miss my DG family!

I'm assuming you don't let the nuts get thick enough there to cover the holes in your deck? lol. Don't fall thru there.

I've been busy cutting Christmas trees at work. I spent all day Sat running the chainsaw and today I'm paying the price. Oh well, it was fun so it's mostly worth it. lol

Baytown, TX(Zone 9a)

So good to hear from everyone! Hope everyone gets well soon!

I have a bloom on the angel trumpets and knockout roses and saw two baby birds in the garden today.

It is in desperate need of upkeep, but with the rain we've had everything is still green. Lots of leaves. Quite a few pine cones still up in the pine tree for the squirrels.

The plumerias and the ferns are in the old hut / makeshift greenhouse. The look ok. The ferns and other plants will need watering.

Made fudge today. It was creamy and delicious!

Stay safe and have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Jeanne

Hi!

I posted over on the prayer forum....disappointing news - blood dropped again down to 9.6. I got iron today.

We are supposed to get rain tonight and then again later in the week. Sure do appreciate it at this point!

Hope everyone is fine!

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

I've been pretty busy working and Christmas shopping. Have snow coming in tonight so had to cover my mirrors so I can use them tomorrow. lol

Not good that it dropped again. At least it held longer this time!!

Delray Beach, FL(Zone 10a)

A picture of our Christmas wreath. Tonight was the first night it was lit. It's beginning a lot like Christmas.

Take care, everyone.

That's the best looking wreath I've seen all season!! :~)

Baytown, TX(Zone 9a)

Beautiful wreath! Very Nice!

Thanks Pepper....it held for quite awhile! I was so hopeful that it was "over".....but not yet! The people at the clinic are soooo nice, everyone there....personnel and other patients have become like "family". We all talk and cheer each other up.
Most are getting chemo, but many do get iron like me! I guess
it's just not time to quit going there yet!

It was so beautiful out today! You would think it was Dec. and that Christmas is right around the corner!

It is supposed to get a little cooler tomorrow and thru the weekend. I did buy fire wood in the event it every does get cold enough to put a fire in the fireplace! (Except Christmas Eve of course......wouldn't want Santa in any danger!) HaHa!

Have a great weekend!

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year....

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Wish I could hug everybody's neck. Let's just have a group hug.(((((((((((((()))))))))))))

I miss you so much. This group is even better than blood relatives.

Looking out my back window to the East is one of the most beautiful sunrise I have seen in my life. Sky is clear blue and the ribbons of pink clouds everywhere. Truly a morning to count my blessings.

Delray Beach, FL(Zone 10a)

Hi, everyone.

Be it known that I'm all in favor of a group hug. I am told I am eminently huggagle and someone said I smell like caramel, somehow. So big hugs to everyone.

I missed the sunrise, but I am sitting outside in the shade, wearing my Crocs and poinsettia boxer shorts. We have a gloriously sunny morning, 76 degrees F already, a bit on the damp side (it rained overnight), not a cloud in the sky and not even a hint of wind. The landscaping crew will be whizzing around in a bit with their noisy lawn mowers, blowers, hedgers, edgers and trimmers and whatnots. They work hard to keep the development looking nice. I'm not going to begrudge them a bit of noise once a week. It only lasts 15 minutes and then they're gone somewhere else. Coffee this morning is black as night, extremely hot and as strong as Hercules. It's a nice morning for a group hug.

Take care, everyone.
Sylvain.

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

We are in the grip of winter here. 29 degrees this morning but the wind has laid and it is very beautiful. Took pictures of the sunrise with Mike's iPhone but can't get them to load..... Oh well, trust me, it was amazing.

Mike is still on a walker/cane. Has not recuperated as well as he did 2 years ago on the other knee. Who would think 2 more years of "old age" would change a person so much.

mulege, Mexico

I'm in the group hug. Home from my month of radiation. Got to ring the bell on my last day. Was very fatigued and had car trouble but was rescued by two Earthly Angels (details on the "what I learned today" thread) so did not make it home for Christmas. Kids here are not fussy so Santa will probably make rounds on New Years.

Tony took wonderful care of my furbabies and home while I was gone.

It's cold here but weather is beautiful and clear.

Best of all - I'M HOME!!!!!

hugs, katie

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Sending lots of good thoughts and hugs, Kate. Will be praying for a complete healing. Take care of yourself, rest, read, sleep. Don't initiate some big project until Spring.

Virginia Beach, VA

Hello to all,
I hope the New Year will bring good health for all of us. Prosperity too!!!

Katie,
Praying for strength from the radiation!!

We spent Christmas with our Children in Alabama and it rained hard for 2 days.Came home yesterday and took us 14 hours. It is normally 12.5.

Our 5 year old G-son got what he wanted from Santa and several under armour outfits. Just love under armour.

I had issues with sciatica and was under the care of a chiropractor for 6 weeks and thank God its much better. I was very hesitant but now I highly recommend them. Now I am on PT for my rt shoulder due to bursitis.

Stay warm!!!

Belle

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all. I'm in Rochester, NY until New Years Eve and the snow looks pretty. We got about three inches last night. Wish it would have come on Christmas.

The boys and grandkids are all well and doing well. Can't ask for more. Don't know what's up in Chicago. Will find out when I talk to my DD. It's 23 degrees here now. Some difference, huh, Sylvain?

Take care and I want to be a part of that wonderful group hug.

Delray Beach, FL(Zone 10a)

Nancy, 23 degrees F is not that warm. I remember it well. And yes, snow is pretty in pictures, TV and paintings. Up close... no so much. Gilles and Claude had a whopping -4F in Montreal this morning. They're flying in today. They must be at the airport now. The cold has never bothered me when I lived up there, but I think I'd change my tune if I went back. Man is definitely a tropical animal that only manages to survive in frigid conditions at the expense of multiple adaptations. I think I lost my adaptations, ibut I do not own a winter coat or gloves anymore. I could just picture myself in a mad dash from Montreal airport to the nearest Big & Tall store to get a winter coat; I don't think so. Northerners are always more eager to come down here in Winter than I'll ever be go to up there.

And Nancy, you're always welcome here. I love hearing from you. Visit as often as you like.

Sylvain.

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

We only reached 21 today and I was ready to chuck my coat but keep the gloves on. lol

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

My word this year is getting by already. January 12th and I am still celebrating Christmas and New Year's. Been really busy with my daughter. You know she also had knee surgery. We went to her office today and then shopping to get some things to wear to work. I am blessed with two children that love me and for that I am truly grateful.

Now! How is my family getting along? Hope everyone is hale and hearty today. We've not had any sun now for 10 days....a little drizzle but no heavy rain...just cloudy and cloudy and cloudy.Makes me want to "nest" but there is so many things to do and I hate to waste time. I consider often what it would be like to have a "family reunion".
The visit on Maui with Jenny was past heaven and I just know that we would all be so loving and compatible.

Cannot tell you enough.....I love each of you and you have enriched my life to no end.
