I am planning to buy a couple of Thunbergia mysorensis vines...I want to know will it grow in my climate, where temperature reaches as much as 48deg Celsius during Summer. The summer lasts for 3 months with extreme climate. I dont want to miss this vine..How can i make it survive. Please Guide me
How to Grow Thunbergia mysorensis
I would think these plants will grow well in your climate IF given protection from the strongest sun of summer, they after all thrive in India as Black Eyed Susan species, a member of the same family.
All you can do is plant this vine in partial sun with good light BUT, not in direct sun, perhaps grow under a trellis where it will get good light but not direct blazing sun, it needs loads of water BUT good draining soil, perhaps mulch the soil to help prevent too much evaporation in the hottest summer months, add some humus to the planting hole and make sure you feed and water as often as it requires, you may have to keep checking the soil by scraping away some soil about 4-6 inches down after watering to see IF the water is reaching down to the roots.
Hope this helps you a little and you have great success when you do.
Best of luck and Kindest Regards. WeeNel.
Thanks a ton Weeneel for the guidance...Summer will start in india after 5 months...i hope by that time it will heave roots
