I have had this Cycad or Sago palm for 13 years in northwest Alabama, and unfortunately the original main plant died due to poor care in the winter. But as you can see there are many suckers or small plants still on it.
What is the best and safest way to separate and pot each of these to give away to family and keep some for myself. I can give some to Dave's Garden folks should any be interested.
Thanks So Much for advice!!!

Need to know the best way to separate these Cycad/Sago
You need to start to separate these baby bulb's suckers, while doing this, you need to be gentle and make sure you don't break the main roots OR the white side roots, once you start, you will be able to trace the roots as you gently pull / tug apart.
Place them into individual pot's and use the same type of soil as for the parent plants, water the plants into the potted soil and grow on given the care they required.
I would pot them into good quality shop bought compost with added grit for drainage, make sure you only bury the roots and leave the bulb part above the soil, water the compost in the pot without wetting the bulb part as you don't want that area to rot if left damp or soaking wet with water.
Don't offer any feed until the plants are needing moved onto a larger pot and you will know when that happens as the roots will have almost taken up all the space at the BOTTOM of the pot.
As you will know these are slower growing palms / Cycads, but once they get going, they will soon grow steady from season to season.
Just make sure you dont neglect the new brood of babies and you can give some away as gifts when they are a bit bigger.
Good luck and kindest Regards.
WeeNel.
