I planted some garlic a local friend gave me 2 weeks ago along with some multiplying onion bulbs (recommended August and September), yesterday I planted some Siberian, Creole Red and Brown Tempest. I accidentally dug up one of the others and saw good root growth. I was told to plant late September through November but my friend said she had good luck with early because we can get hot early in the spring. She is the only person I know down here with garlic. Our Dallas area DG'ers are quite adept at growing it but their winters are quite different from ours.
I am no expert, this may go badly or work well. We will see.
September Blooms
I'm in DFW and plant my garlic in October.
I have always planted just before Halloween on garlic, and just before Thanksgiving on green onions- both when I lived in Arlington and now I live near Magnolia and never had problems
