Sad isn't it that a woman with so much can still be disappointed with her lot in life..heck, look at the daughter she has, shouldn't she be smilling lol
She gave me this vase.. very pretty and nice of her..2 tops and a large crock pot..hit paydirt didn't I? bought fixing to make a stew for tomorrow.
the lamp shade, Dianne do you think I have to take the crown off to replace the broken piece?
Best/Worse/What did I learn today?Chat with friend new & old
Oh Betty, I would dearly love to live in such a beautiful place. With all the grands and greats though, I have to be more practical. I never wanted to be a fussy sort always picking at the kids for making messes so our places have been much more casual. Like when we built our place up north, Northern MI is all sand so I ordered the carpet in sand color. Then don't you know they always thought my place was the only place to all get together and color eggs or make strawberry jam. Oh well most of the stains came out eventually.
After my grands grew a bit and thought themselves too old to wear the fussy heirloom style dress, I turned to making and dressing porcelain dolls for several years. When the collection got too large, one Christmas, I had all the girls come in the room and in age order choose dolls to take home. They were all thrilled to have them and I gained some much needed space. I have only one left, a ballerina that I never got around to dressing. I will some day and then she will go to which ever decided to take up dance.
Then you also have a love for porcelain dolls, problem with my mom is she has all grandsons except for my sister who adopted two girls..they aren't 'doll' girls so there goes the giving of dolls.
Wasn't quite ready to settle in so scalded another basket of tomatoes..they are so large took no time at all. Not sure what to heck I'm doing re spices but I'm sure if I keep adding and tasting and adding again till I can stomach the taste it will be ok..just don't ask me to do same again. Lol
As for the flowers they are decreasing n size, I'm not sure if I should let it run all night, maybe not, can always turn it on early tomorrow mornimg..hate leaving things plugged in and working while I sleep..
About ready to call it a night. Not quite boiled enough so will shut it off and resume in the owning..need to sterilize jars and lids, just to tired to do so tonight..been quite a non stop kind of day..
Did you all enjoy your day??
Hello To All;
Scanning and trying to keep up....
FIL heart was better but his left lung collapsed so he had a bronchial tube today... MIL is very distraught....and I love her so much....
SUSAN.... Thanks for kudos on the loan... I know you and Bob will be both working soon... so so skilled.... very much so....
Sharon... You had mentioned a Las Vegas Gelato shop... I tried to find it today... any names?
Betty LOVE YOU Gal... yes loan is done. so the work begins.
Marilynn....thanks for the loan congrats. (HUGS)
KATIE - work the system gal... the abuse they gave you was not fair... you can work to fairly counteract that. Now that I am starting to see life beyond my job... I am realizing that my bosses were very very abusive. I am reading the bible and it is sinful to be so abusive to people. You are in the right and need to know that.
Dianne... LOVE You and Diesel and hoping all is well with you both. Yes FIL is a tough Cajun.... the financing was definitely a HUGE Worry for me.... it is behind us now so certainly I'll find something else to take it's place.
LOL On bartending... we need you for our grand opening... can you make it?
HUGS To all my good friends.... and new friends....
Thinking I will make a chuck roast tomorrow... MIL Need a home cooked meal. Love her she is great...
HUGS
Mary
Morning all, dull looking day out there but it's only after 7am..weatherman I think got it wrong, sure looks like rain!
Mary prayers for you FIL, can just imagine how frantic mil must be. Know you have a special bond with her so here's hoping your comforting will ease her distraught. Bet you wake up smilling this mornimg. Hardest part of this venture was the financing and look at you, you've got it...all upstream from here.
Took the flowers out, they are fry enough for use..now that I know I it works and if I can get the melting and forming of the bowl done I'll be in business..I'm sure the girls here would love to make them..think I'm a little ambitious thinking I can let alone show others. Thought more about it, worse that can happen is I have enough was to make mega candles.
My jars are being sterilized, should be able to hot pack them soon..Lordy, sure can make a mess canning!
What are you all up to today, anything special?
Good morning all!
We're off to the fair in just a bit.
Thunderstorms passed through here last night. Probably headed your way Betty.
Best of luck with the jarring.
Have a stellar day everyone
Toodles
M
Enjoy the fair "M". Don't overdo
Our local fair is next weekend!
Sharon was awfully disappointed in her quilt entry..I will get her to send me photo's to show you who got 1st and 2nd..Sharon got 3rd but you have to see what won..omg not good work on the 2nd at all, the 1st still questionable and not because she is my sister..
Waiting out the thick fog, good grief!!
Spent time on my hair, why?? LOL
Maddening when there's an obvious difference between categories and winners.
Was there once with a school band competition, Murray's school outshines the 3 others, but had to settle for third. Some very disappointed kids, and angry parents. We kept our mouths shut, had to provide a good example for the kids, but later, in private, we all vented.
Guess we'll venture out soon.
Toodles
M
I'm so sorry to hear that about Sharon's quilt. It is just stunning and I'm sure it deserved a first place. The same thing happened to my Mom as well but she just entered it into a different fair with a lot more prestige and it took Grand Champion!!!! Maybe the winner was the judge's sister!!! Glad to hear your canning is going well and I'll be watching to see the bowl!!!
Congratulations Mary! Sounds like things can really start to move forward now. Sure am happy for you. Sending prayers for your FIL and MIL....
Vent away Katie. We are all here for you and we all send our prayers for your well being.
Betty, your Mom is sure talented with her work on the dolls. I'm a bit confused as to why she changed the cabinets. The new ones look like the old ones with different handles to me.....
I can sure understand why Jim likes the cottage!!!
Having Norm's nephew for dinner today. He was such a big help with our move. And then on Wednesday we are taking Stacy, Scott and the boys out to dinner. I really don't know how we could have done this move without our family. Movers are soooo expensive now - I refuse to pay their prices.
Off to play arranging for a bit in the quilt room and then on to make some macaroni salad. Norm's nephew loves it so I'll be a good aunt and make him some!!
Have a great day everyone......
Barb, exactly, they are the same, she wouldn't have gained more than 2 ft. And for what, a tremendous amount of work and $$$
Don't understand the woman that is for sure..she has the I want! I want! I want!
I know you are all saying, we hear that from you as well? Difference I guess is that it's to make something for someone or improvements to this old house..not usually just for having.
She is talented for sure, there was nothing mm would undertake that she didn't excell in.
Still stirring chili sauce, Greg dropped n for one of my tools, said it did smell like his dad's , said Mel's mom made him some, he'd it it but wasn't dad's..said I'm not to leave the kitchen and burn it and if it wasn't like dad's then I'm off the "make me chili" list..told him he wouldn't hurt my feelings..lol
Did play trying to make a bowl, I have learned a few things so I will possibly melt it and start over..between the fragrance of the wax bowl and chili it's homey when you walk in..I almost feel domesticated. I did say ALMOST
Ann is coming over around 11:30 we will each make a candle and see how it turns out.
Sharon will send me photo and I will let you be the judge..disheartening, she worked long hours to have it ready.
"M". It's misting here, you did send it my way.
Barb bet you are starting to get the feel of home..you are closer to some relatives? I love Mac salad as well..
Off to put a stew on, if I'm going to play at being domesticated might as well go all the way.
Betty, love your Moms place! She made all those dolls? They are beautiful!
I agree, I don't see any difference in the cupboards, other than the hardware!
Hope your sauce comes out OK! Love those flower bowls too, they sound really nice!
Mary, sending prayers for FIL! Keep us posted please?
Barb, glad to hear your getting things unpacked. Just do it a few boxes at a time, and before you know it you will be all done!
Domesticated???? YOU???? I don't think so. You may play now and then but your heart is crafting all the while!!!!
I'll pulling my hair out right now!!! The bank has doubled deductions from our checking account over the last two days. Every charge has been duplicated to the point that we look overdrawn!!! I'll be Da##ed if I will transfer any money from savings - they will have to fix it and pay us back for any charges we incur. And of course, this is a holiday weekend and the bank won't be open until Tuesday!!!! Thank heaven I keep a sludge fund in my purse because Norm doesn't always check the balance before spending. I didn't think anything of the things we used the card for yesterday as I knew there was plenty in the account.jj GRRRRR!!!!
Off for my shower and waving to all~~~~~~
Bank messes always seem to occur when you can't do anything bout them for a couple days, always sets me to stewing.
One of my childhood friends called me a while back, an acquaintance of hers in her 90s was giving her an antique doll and she wanted me to refurbish and dress her. I told her I would dress her but to take her to an expert for the repairs. It did come out very nice and she was thrilled but I was a nervous wreck until it was back in her hands.
Oh Barb what a mess, wouldn't you kow it would be a long weekend.shoots not good. Glad you have a slush fund, ai always have one but know its there so I spend it. Lol
Linda Kay, think had Jim told her he was installing them and had her stay at the cottage, replace hardware maybe add a small side cupboard she would have been overly pleased and shed not have noticed the difference.
I'll go back Karen and tell you which dolls I said I'd take, she has many in the city for me as well..then we get to her royal dalton collection, drats, should have a bigger house.
Always nervous when you have someone's treasure. Am sure you did a replica of the outfit to a 't,
Took a photo of bowl #1 and ow I'm remeltng it. Lol
Had a nice visit with Ann, made 4 candles and ended up with 2..we are having a learning curve. Need proper sizzled bowls, proper larger dried flowers,a place to work other than my zinc which seems to be a tad off kilter but we had fun and will try again..
Was too funny, Ann texted Melissa to tell her where she was in case she was needed..wrote that she was at my house making wax bowls. Not five minutes later Melissa called asking how we were making sex bowls. Lol
Finished first batch of red cili sauce..ended up with 23 jars
Guess tomorrow I will have to finish the tomatoes I have sitting on back deck, need more jars.
Ann said it tasted good so hopefully Greg will think so as well
Just cleaning up my mess, might just put up my feet and relax.
Meant to say babies had a good day today, bit of an upset for Addy but overall they are pleased with today's progress
They will test Alex to see if he also had CUD
How are the babies doing?
What is CUD?
We cross posted

Sounds like it is treatable if found early enough.
Yes, that is the least of her.challenges..because its hereditary Melissa was tested yesterday, said the did it at sick kids hospital, she laughed, all the little ones were looking at her wondering how she could be in Sick Kids. Lol. Even got a file card. Today they are testing Alexandro.
What have you been up to this LNG weekend Linda Kay
I got home from San Antonio about 1 yesterday. Took a 3 hour nap an have been lazy since. I have some fabric cut for things I am making for a swap coming up. Need to get them finished and mailed out Tuesday.
Making spaghetti for dinner tonight.
You've been busy as well. Mouth watering now that you say spaghetti, I should have taken out a container and it would have been so much easier. Ann and I finished Chinese for lunch. So I'm not overly hungry.
I promise myself tomorrow I shall just play..we will see!
Talk about a HUGE change in weather!! From the mid 90s to 57F at the moment!
The Fair was quite pleasant, nice to be able to actually walk around. Last year I was in such pain I could hardly stand it.
Bought this and that, just regular 'fair fare', some jams, corn etc.
Good to know the twins have a treatable anomaly.
Watched 'The Call' last night with Halle Berry, very good flick, as was the BIG Wedding with Diane Keaton, Susan Sarandon, Katherine Heigle, Robert DeNiro ... laffed way lots ^_^
Seems everyone is busy, am sure hoping that BArb gets the bank charges oopsie rectified ..
Off to watch a Bruce Willis movie ..
Toodles
~M~
Can't do anything with the bank until Tues. "M" but you can rest assured I will be there first thing!!!!
Monitor says 77 here "M" although I've not been outside today, overcast but we did have sunshine this afternoon.
Glad you enjoyed the fair, really hits home it's fall when it's fair time..
Was thinking it would have been easier and cheaper to find someone who makes good chili and buy it. Same I guess with jam, what king did you get?
Have to keep those movies in mind, on DVD or cable?
Back of the neck paining a bit, time for hot bath, Jammie's, maybe find some magazines to go through , fluff up pillows and flick the pages
Don't blame you Barb, isn't technology grand? How did supper go?
Hello To All;
Betty - HUGS to Sharon... at least she and you know she should have won 1st.....
Barb... so completely moved? Must feel grand.... Yes do agree the Bank needs to pay and then some for your worry.....
LK Yum spaghetti... Thanks for asking about FIL. He is better but not out of the dark yet....still in ICU.
MIL came over for the pot roast... it was good.... but my green beans were mushy. LOL...
I enjoyed knowing she had a home cooked meal with family tonight... not a "Tomato sandwich by herself" or "fast food" which is what she has been having.
I am not catching up to quickbooks as I thought I would and I'm frustrated with myself. I need to spend some time working on it. but I need to head back to hospital tomorrow as well.....
"What to do" as Betty says.... (HUGS)
Loving being off tomorrow....
HUGS all
Mary
Morning all
Slept in till 7am, what's the world comin to?
Prayers for your FIL /Mil Mary, hard time for you all..
Quick books, sometimes good old ledger keeping is the answer..guess its a requirement for the store and not just something you want to try?
Try to enjoy today, some time for you.
I'm going to play today, goal is to finish fall throw piece, soon time to decorate for fall, next few weeks, imagine, we were all hyped up with spring/gardens seems but days ago.
Morning...today is to be our last day of hot, hot weather. The rest of this week will be mid 70's. I'm so looking forward to it!
Sue came yesterday and we went to the county fair to see if my entries in the flower show did any good. Got a couple blues, couple seconds, a third and an honorable mention. Not too bad for my first try!
Then we went to a nursery, and ended up at Jungle Jim's. I never mean to spend money there, but seems I can never get out the door without spending at least $50. Sigh....did get some bargains though.
Bill is having a bad day today. He was up and down all night. Scared me when I woke at 1:30 and he wasn't in bed with me. I came out and he said he was having some back/leg pain. Took a vicadin and was starting to feel better. He's still moving really slow this morning and hasn't left his recliner. Hope a day of rest will help.
Made mac salad yesterday and we'll have burgers, beans and salad today. Brownies for dessert. Put black walnuts on top of half, cause Bill doesn't care for them. That way, I'll know who gets what!
Have a great day all!
Holy smackers, went down to Foodland and the sky opened up..talk about a storm moving through. Had to chance clothes, soaking wet.
Do want to sew today, let's hope power doesn't go off
Dianne and Debbie, batten down the hatches
Betty, meant to ask you, are the babies back together now?
Here is hoping Joyce Bill will feel better with the meds..guess its a hard call to know when it's something he has to be watchful for or head to the hospital..a worry for sure.
You did do good girl, what will you do with your winnings, head to a nursery for sure!
Ohhh I just loved jungle Jim's..Joyce is it a chain?
Mom and dad's won't be able to send kids out to play today, usually the littles ones are all hell bent, full of energy their last day of freedom and now they are cooped inside.
So dark out there, need spotlight on inside..
Drats, bet I get to spend the day in darkness..maybe the storm will move quickly out of our region and all will be well.
Enjoy your sunshine
No they are not, Addy is still at Sick Children's Hospital, much better equipped to deal with her issues. Ann asked about you and Bill yesterday, updated as best I could, she said to say she is sending hugs.
Melissa was asked to be a bridesmaid next month, bride to be said perhaps all the pampering day before would be just what she needs but means 1 day not visiting with babes. She is not sure what to do, if anything ever happened that day she would never forgive herself..has to decide today!
Good morning everyone ^_^
Mary, your FIL and MIL remain in my prayers .. it's tough to leave someone you love in the hospital .. but for a chuck pot roast I'd do it, not to worry bout the beans, just more easily digested :-)
I find it difficult these days to find a blade or a chuck roast for crockpot cooking, when Lorna's parents come in a few weeks I'll have to go to the butcher and have him cut one. Such a tender cut.
Betty, I bought some Peach jam (keep thinking of ViAnns with the ginger and rum in it) this is just plain .. bought some pickled hot peppers for Lorna's Dad, he loves spicy food, he Mom can only eat bland foods, not tomatoes, onion or garlic, so, when they come for their visits DH and myself have to put on our thinking caps !! I usually end up cooking something for the 4 of us, and something less zippy for her Mom. SO happy it's just a week long visit this time.
50F right now, but, the sun is warming things up ..
Am sure they'll be lots of time spent outside ... kinda have to listen for the phone as DDinL has a good friend who developed a brain aneurysm just like THAT a couple of days ago, things are not lookin good, Michelle is 36, has a young daughter 13, and parents ...she's in ICU hanging on .. bless her.
SO .. make beds, make toast/tea or coffee, tidy kitchen and living room .... head outside .. sounds a plan
ENJOY your day
Toodles
~M~
No $$$ for winning, Betty, only ribbons and bragging rights! ^_^
Jungle Jim's is not a chain, there are two of them, but that's all! I guess if I hadn't bought two bottles of wine yesterday my bill wouldn't have been too bad. Bill's sister had shared this wine with me at Olive Garden, it's from a vineyard in Oregon. A red wine and I usually don't like red but I did like this. Anyway, it was $17 a bottle and I texted her and asked it that was a good price and she told me I better buy a case at that price!!! I said, maybe next time. I bought one red and one white from the same vineyard. Might try the red with my burger today...although a beer would taste mighty fine, too!
Meant to add that I'm sending prayers, too, Mary. As well as to all you others that have needs. Give Ann a hug for me, Betty. Sure hope that things work out okay for those babies. Have them in my daily prayers for sure.
Ooooh Black Walnuts...I so love them. I haven't had them in years, most of what they go on or in I'm not allowed anymore. My DDIL's mother used to make the most wonderful black walnut cake, I jusy drool all over myself thinking about it.
We are on the road again today, heading to TN. Had a very nice time yesterday, I know both son and grandson enjoyed spending the day together so was well worth taking the extra time. DGS has been here a month and is hating going back to TN, he just likes MI so much more. His mom would have three kinds of fits if he left TN again.
