Hello everyone,
I planted an okra sapling early this season, purchased at a local nursery, and it has turned out to be extremely prolific. I've since tried to use its seeds to grow new saplings to no avail. What i've done is to cut open a fresh pod, put the seeds in an earthen pot, place the pot in the sun and water daily. Unfortunately, it has yet to yield anything.
If anyone has a suggestion, i'd appreciate it.
Thank you in advance.
Planting Okra seeds
Okra is pretty easy, but you must let the pods completely dry on the plant before removing the seeds. when the seeds are mature, they germinate easily in hot weather. But we are talking about next year, way too late to start okra now.
Farmerdill, many thanks for your feedback.
Any advise on how to best store the seeds for next year?
Okra seed have a long shelf live once dry. I just put them in a small paper bag and store them with other excess seeds in a cardboard box in my spare room. They are also very cheap, I usually buy a half pound every 3- 4 years. 2013 price under $4.00
