If so and you grow tomatoes and vegetables, please contact me as I'm trying to find out when to start what???? I know broad but after living the last 2 1/2 years in Bradenton now moving north a little and to a place that isn't constantly spraying, spraying the chemicals, I'm hoping to start growing some veggies.
So any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.
Janet
Anyone live close to Brooksville FL?
Hi there. I'm in Clearwater & have 2 garden beds. My tomato plants are growing very well but its still to hot for them to flower & produce. I am having great luck with peppers (any kind), corn, squash, okra, sweet potatoes & watermelon rite now. You might want to start some tomatoes maybe late August/early September & by the time they are ready to flower the temps will be a bit lower. In mid-late September I'm planning to start onions, carrots, greens, brocolli, cauliflower, radishes & lettuce. I don't know how the soil is in brooksville, but here in Clearwater its all sand so I have to use ALOT of potting soil, fertilizer (13-13-13 or 15-15-15) , peat moss & composted manure. Making ur own compost is super helpful if u can. I hope it goes well & good luck!!
Thanks so much brownthumb78 for the insight. I plan on having all potted veggies, as the soil drains way to fast and I'm not planning on standing out in 90 degree weather watering>>>>lol
I hear u there. I swear it gets hotter every summer. Well good luck!
jan,
i use my Southern Living Garden Book and Vegetable Gardening for Dummies to get the correct info for planting what when where how!
I hoping with being this far north that maybe I'll also be able to grow some of my beloved perennials, I know not all, but to have some would make my heart sing. I love the southern living mags and their books.
thanks for the info
Jan
