This plant was doing great until a month ago.
Now the leaves are yellowing and the edges are turning brown and crispy.
The same smaller plant next to the sick plant is just doing fine.
Have you any idea of what is going wrong?
I live in Greece (zone 8a)
thank you

Please help me!
My instant reaction was
Burned by the bar-b-que.
It does not have to be in contact. Just nearby. The heat can build up and harm the plants.
Even if you pull the BBQ away to cook, it might still be warm when you put it back.
Other than that, Cycads get some pests that are specific to them, but I do not think the effects look like that. I do not know if these pests have been found in Europe.
There is a certain scale, and a weevil that specialize in cycads. Cycads can also be attacked by most of the common pests and diseases.
Yes very well could be heat from the barbecue. How long was it doing well before you noticed the symptoms? One thing that makes me think of heat is that it looks like the damage is mostly on one side.
By chance did you have the plant inside? and then brought it outside where is gets more sun than usual? That could cause those symptms too.
Also what size pot is it in and how are you watering it? Are you using tap water from the sink to water it? Does the pot drain water out the bottom?
Sometimes salts can build up in pots if they arent allowed to drain which some Cycads can be sensitive too.
Thank you very much for the replies. I don't use that bbq at all. The plant is outside all year long and yes, i do use tap water. I have to check again the pot and come back to you.
Thank you
