hey I got aphids(small green bugs) on some of my strawberry plants and some on my roses, what kind of spray can I use to get rid of them ?
aphids
revid, I have had good success with Spinosad. It is organic and, according to a local orchardist, it is safe to use on eatable fruits and berries. BUT be sure and read the fine print before you try it. Good luck.
revid,
I have an old stock of Diazinon Ultra that I have resorted to when faced with losing a crop. I’ve never used it on anything that I was going to eat, just foliage. Application time to safe-to-eat time is seven days on most crops, if I recall correctly.
I’ve never used it on strawberries.
Aphids, as you probably know, are major distributors of communicable diseases.
Just release ladybugs and plant plants that ladybugs like to hang out in. The Federal gov't told us DDT was ok too, but look how that ended. Just because OMRI says it ok or organic doesn't make it so. If there is a large infestation. Use 1 oz liquid seaweed, 1 oz of citrus oil, and a tsp of liquid soap( all natural preferred). Mix in with 1 gallon of water and apply to infected plants. Be careful and don't use during heat of the day may cause damage to plant. I like to apply it in the early morning right before the sun comes up.
Jr',
What do you use to make the ladies want to hang around?
