big mistake.need an answer.i put a pinch of kosher salt on my tomato & strawberry plants.I know i know,should have used epsom salt..lol.dumb move.but it was very little.so please tell me.is it the worst.I hope not..i added about two pinches to each plant.

I don't know whether such a small amount will harm them, but if you're concerned about it why don't you just flush the plants with plenty of water to dilute the salt?

And maybe add some acid plant food or sufphur to neutralize the salt. Often times damage from alkali or other types of salt will show up as a yellow edge on the leaves, but lots of flushing will hopefully dilute the salt. If the salt is coarse and not yet dissolved, try scraping up as much as you can.

Thanks yeah I flushed them.but was a lil scared of overfeeding.I guess it be worth overfeeding them than not flushing at all.oh boi..this has already been a interesting journy..rookie gardner.but im enjoying it bigtime.

Are you running fertilizer through the irrigation so the plants get a low dose with every watering?

Just use plain water to flush out the salt. Skip the fertilizer while you are doing this.

As long as the salt isn't right on the plant I don't see a problem. Where I live they spread TONS of salt on the roads and it doesn't even slow the weeds down.

Isnt always just salt they spread some is potato liquad spray. a pinch wont hurt, there is salt in the ground usually anyway, should be NOT thrown on the plant. Foliar feeds are liquad forms of Miracle Gro, or 1Tbsp of Epsom salt dissolved in water, teas of some fertilizers can be used foliar too. Otherwise use an earth application of anything you do to your plants. Then. Good harvests!
