Mount Laurel, NJ(Zone 7a)

good morning =)

enjoying the bloom posts w/my morning java. taking mom to get her other eye done soon (cataract surgery). thought I'd sneak in a few pics before we go

greenthumb, you sure have a wide variety of plants in your gardens. I like the Mountain Fleece and the Tall Bellflower - never saw those before

Holly, what is in your hanging basket? that's a nice one

1- from Ruby
2- lots of trumpet flower blooms this year
3- this is the no ID hydrangea I've been calling pom pom blue
4- anyone know this salvia? it is pink with a cluster of pink leaves at the tip; grown from seeds from a swap years ago. I really love it
5- balloon flowers that were unfurling in a previous pic

That has Bonfire Begonia, Diamond Frost Euphoria and a purple verbena that just doesn't seem to want to flower.

Mount Laurel, NJ(Zone 7a)

I really like the Bonfire begonia. Seems this year my favs are begonias and caladiums. One of the caladiums we have sprouting from the swap has HUGE stems; can't wait to see what the leaves are going to look like... Critter's Miss Muffet is sweet. Harry says, "is it supposed to have those spots?" I just moved it to a new pot from HD that I liked. I'll take a pic after we get back from the eye doctors. Enjoy the day. Looks like sunshine for a change!!

Wind, is your bay laurel planted in the ground or container? it's supposedly hardy to zone 8a but I only had to bring it indoors 2-3 nights last winter. I've considered planting mine in the ground in a protected spot.

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

gorgeous, Jen and Diana

Central, MD(Zone 7a)

Well we had a new tropical hibiscus chewed down to sticks last night. I had bought it this year and divided it into three pots, they found all three pots and skipped by my hostas and DLS. Some noid hosta bloom pictures..

3- blue mouse ears I think
4- hush puppies, a mini
5- lake Sorbonne?

Oh, not the Tropical Hibiscus!! I bought 5 in a co-op one year and gave 4 away. The one remaining on my deck hasn't bloomed yet, but I'm constantly looking for signs. I would cry if the critters got this plant.

Central, MD(Zone 7a)

Sadly so. Excuse my pots. They work for the moment. I guess I'm on the wrong thread for this, excuse me.

Devastation!! No apology needed.

Lol. I'm really good at protecting the other plants from deer but I didn't think about the hibiscus. Must be a Florida deer visiting some relatives for the fourth of July.

It got excited that someone had a delicacy it was used to and enjoyed every mouthful!!! Careful the review doesn't get put on Trip advisor for all its friends to read.

wow what the heck eats Hibiscus?

Diana , the plants behind the Caladium are Lobelia

Diana, I bought the pot at Home Goods about 8 years ago. I'm planning to make mosaic pots, though.

Any body know this weed?? Its' EVERYWHERE!!

roses, looks like maybe the Ageratina altissima somebody recently posted to ID forum.

Mount Bethel, PA(Zone 6a)

I don't know, Sally. The images that I get on line don't have the shine that my weeds do. I'll leave a few to blossom and then I'll know for sure....maybe. Thanks for your help.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

When I first saw it, I thought 'Gallant Soldier', but I think the leaves on yours are more pointy...looks very familiar though...will let you know if I find out

Diana, the Lobelia is perennial

pretty blooms Jen. like the peach and yellow lily combo. we haven't had many swallowtails yet; we do have a LOT of birds, maybe that's why! We had a purple penstemon years ago but never a raspberry color. Ours died I think because the spot was too dry

Mount Bethel, PA(Zone 6a)

I don't know how you manage to have such a variety, Jen!

The weed that I asked about above is leaning toward "Clearweed" in the plants ID forum. I've never seen it here before and it is usually found in damp areas. I guess we had lots of "damp areas" this summer.

Lovely garden blooms, everyone! Can't believe I'm back after almost a month away. Got back last week and am almost back to US time now. It was a totally fabulous trip with my daughter to the part of the world where she was born--really a trip of a lifetime for both of us.

When I arrived back home, I couldn't believe how my flowers and shrubs had grown and blossomed! Unfortunately, the weeds did, too. :-D I'm especially overrun with morning glories and pokeweed.

My poor weeping cherry is holding together, barely. I'm keeping an eye on it, but may need to call American Plant to discuss a replacement with them. :-(

My Endless Summer Hydrangeas are blossoming like blue and pink fountains!! The flower balls are huge. My phlox also bloomed while I was gone, as did my Gayfeather Kobold and many other things. Unfortunately, my poor rose bushes have been eaten by the Japanese beetles--not a pretty sight. :-(

Most exciting: my Harry Lauder tree finally arrived and was planted today! I've been waiting for this for a few months, and have kept a spot of honor for it. It is so cute. :-)

Oh sounds like it was a great trip. Ric and I have been thinking of a long trip out West but the idea of leaving for 6 weeks in the summer is a bit daunting.

Parkville, MD(Zone 7b)

RRR, I think I spent hours trying to figure out what that weed was, to no avail. Was it ever positively identified?

This week in my front yard:
1. Zinnia 'Envy' (from seed) finally blooming like crazy
2. Coleus from the Cylburn Arboretum Market Day
3. My front bed. A little crowded, I agree. But I love this perspective! Red Sea Ageratum (from seed), Flowering tobacco (from seed I collected last year), petunias, drumstick allium which are about spent.
4-5. Another coleus from Cylburn, Flowering Tobacco (already collected seed from this one!)

Loving your pics, guys! Keep 'em coming!

Welcome back Catmint! Bon Voyage, Jan.
Hey Ric and Holly if anybody can pull off a long trip, I would think it would be you two!

Okay, I need some help from all you daylily growers out there. Almost all of my daylilies are the fulva or ditch lily type except for two clumps of double/triple flowered ones I rescued. The single flowered grow appropriately along my front ditch in a 40 foot row, and the double triple
Is this even possible clumps about 15 feet behind them. Each year the singles bloom first followed by the doubles.

This year started out the same but almost half of the long row of single bloomers have become doubles!
Is this a miracle or a usual occurance with daylilies?

Holly, it does not have to be summer to have an extended trip out west. In 1998 I made a van trip out there from late September to mid-November. I was run out of southern Wyoming on Oct 4 by an unusually early snowstorm, but the more southern states are truly excellent in the fall. Mild temps and few tourists. Had a delightful time. I highly recommend that time of year for New Mexico and Arizona especially. Far more hospitable then times I've been there in May and mid-summer.

Good idea Greenthumb, Ric and I were out in Vegas a good 15 years ago and did a weeks drive around the Grand Canyon and back to Vegas pretty sure it was Sept or Oct when we went I remember the temps were in the 100's. I have an Aunt that lives in Sana Cruise Ca we talked about driving out the north route to her house and then swing back on the southern route.

Hi Catmint, welcome back!

Did anyone else get Dimension lilies from the group buy? I think they might be the prettiest lilies I've ever seen. That was such a great bargain, too. Thanks again to Critter for organizing it!

Mount Bethel, PA(Zone 6a)

TYCP, the consensus of opinion seemed to be "Clearweed".

I think you've had a plant miracle, Coleup!!! Couldn't happen to a more dedicated gardener.

Greenthumb, your pics are so delightful, as usual.

Also, we really enjoy this Coleus from the swap but don't seem to have a record of its ID or its bestower.

OOPS! Photos below.
