Will I get more this year by leaving them on instead of removing them? Idont need these plants next year.
can i leave blossoms on strawberries
Each flower is a berry, if you remove them you will not get berries.
My Dad used to grow wonderful Strawberries when I was kid we helped (ate ofcource) with the berries and the only time he ever reduced the amount of flowers were right at the end of the season when the weather was cooling, he would remove some flowers / even very small white / green berries, he said by reducing the crop at this time it allowed the plants to use the remainder of it's energy into helping the crop produce larger fruits and ripen the berries left on the plants.
IF you dont wish to keep all the plants make sure you remove some runners and pot them up so next year IF you wish, these runners will be your next set of plants to start off a new Strawberry bed with healthy young plants. that will be good for up to another 3/4 years.
Best of luck. WeeNel.
