i have a few orchids that are a few years old and one has recently finished flowering. where the flower was is now what appears like the leaves of the plant. very much like what the base of the existing plant looks like. enclosed are a few photos.
this is the first i've seen of this with any of my orchids so i'm wondering if this can be transplanted and grown as a new orchid plant?
growing orchid from plant
Yes, it can. If the plant is through flowering, just snip the bloom spike off a short distance from both sides of the new plant and pot up as usual. Do not try to remove the new plant from the spike as it can result in root damage. the small about of bloom spike attached will decompose naturally.
thank you!
You are most welcome.
