Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends

ADHD is not because kids are bad.If that was the case then every kid in this world would have it.It has something to do with the brain. Its a chemical inbalance.

MoonBeam!! I think you are just incredible. I love your relationship with Jordan, I thinks we have the same parenting.
When Julia was ill, the only way i knew how to deal with it, was constant conversation about every thing and I mean everything, the ups and downs meds she was on welbutrin...
Thank heavens that was the worst time as a parent, but it pays off in the end because, i think giving them the option of what they are doing with their lives is the best learning to grow up. The other day, Sabrina wanted me to fill out her benefits papers, I told her I'ld stand with her and help if she needed it, but i was not going to do it for her, lol she did in less the 10 minutes.

Absolutely Cody....but that attitude and knowledge have only come into play in the last 20 years....before that, a fidgety, fussy , frustrated kid was just considered ill-behaved or spoiled....now days folks know differently.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Thank you Jujube....I think you are pretty incredible yourself. ((WRAPPIN')) Ya gotta talk with, not at or over....but you also have to be the adult...and that is the hard part....grin

Yeah thats right Jean.So people though are still old school.Like you say they think the kid is just bad.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Afternoon everyone, I am home and trying to catch up on all the threads! Wow, so much has been going on for the last few days! Todd and I really enjoyed out trip to the coast! Weather was perfect, it started raining last night, but it was dinner time, and it only rained for about 30 minutes. I have not unpacked the camera yet, but I promise to post them when I do!

Judy, so sorry I missed your call! Call me back when you have time please?

Hi Linda Kay,glad you had a blast..

Victoria Harbour, ON

welcome home Lindakay..look forward to photo's

Hey guys, wasn't saying kids were bad, I was trying to say back in my day, when some acted differently they were labelled as bad or troublesome kids..they were shunned and not taught on same level as other students in the class....

Betty when i said some people are still old school.I was talking about my family. They rather see my son suffer through school instead of getting the help he needed. It chaps my behind so bad that people are like that. They rather see the child stuffer in school instead of them doing good in school.I got the help my son needed, rather they liked it or not.I did it for my son.

Victoria Harbour, ON

You did the right thing, your son comes first.

my DIL Melanie works and has worked hard since Kyle was diagnosed with asperghers syndrome..between fighting for special classes, having a twice a week outing with a teacher ( paid for through asperghers assc) special school equipment that Kyle is where he is today..starting college this fall, working part time, buying car, snowmobile, paying insurance, responsible young man, respected at work..really her doing!!

Yes,my son will always come first in my life.

Betty, you should be very proud of them both. They both have come along way.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Always a battle ahead isn't there..just when you think you've made great strides ahead something comes up to drag you back..almost like playing snakes and ladders..

About 1/2 hr left with push mower then grass is done..gee I love that rider, saves me hours Lol

In between I've out another quilt on the frame..

I love the sounds of Friday night, everyone's mowers are going, fires in back yards, lots of chatter on the street..feeling of community.

Just ordered poutine and chicken fingers from restaurant then think I will call it a day..accomplished exactly what I had on my trusted list for today

Yes!!! If its not one thing, then it something else...

Lyndonville, NY

As my kids would say "if it not one thing, then it your mother"! I get blamed for so much. lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Cody, I am glad you care enough to get the help he needs.
Betty, I had to Google poutine, it says it is French fries with brown gravy and cheese curds? That sure does sound good! We don't have cheese curds here that I know of!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Are you all recouped after your time away LindaKay?

Debbie, you know they love to tease you!!!

Kyle just dropped in to show me his new wheels, excited for him..

Tummy went topsey/turvey though, I asked how Noah was doing, he said terrible, only goes to school, work then sleeps, wants nothing to do with anyone..won't take his meds..tomorrow I will call.

Linda Kay,that little boy is my life.I got the help he needed.I didn't care what anyone thought. He has been on a med going on 5 years now.

Yes, rested now, came home unpacked and took a nap.

Nice car Betty, sorry to hear about Noah! Sure hope they are taking him to counseling?

As we're we're driving home this morning, we were about half way gome and it started to rain really bad. A bad thunderstorm was moving in, and Todd looked in the rear view mirror, and said that the dark clouds looked like a tornado, so we kept driving. When we got got home the news said that a tornado touched down about 10 minutes after we went through, and took the roof off a farmers barn. That was too close for comfort. Lots of rain here all day and cool. 75 right now.

Victoria Harbour, ON

OMG LindaKay, so glad you are home safely..we've almost the same temps today, is cooling down now though..came in, think I'm weak from all the blood the skitters got..just kidding! Dangerous to keep driving wasn't it???

My mind is on Noah, sure wish there was something to get through to him. Also thinking of Bill and Joyce..

put another quilt on the frame..worked on it for about 1/2 hr. if all goes well hoping to have it off the frame by Monday.

Betty my prayers go out to you and your family...

Although I'm tired tonight I'm no sleepy, mood word would
Already in bed, Missy beside me, maybe if I close my eyes and listen to her purrr I might doze off.

Dianne, did ou get that nap you were looking to have?

Betty you are welcome.Hopefully you can get him to listen some how.Try to get some rest!!!!

Hello To All;

Debbie DS is just like you... Thanks you all of your comments... I am going to get an appt for him and try to get him back on meds...

Betty yes - the explosion was horrible we went to wall to wall coverage and I had to cancel some of my advertisers for that day.... a young man lost his life and many are posting his pic on FB now and it just makes me so sad. Another plant has now had an explosion nearby (4 miles?) from there .... so I hope Jean's DHubs is home and safe.... but I believe this is not his plant.

Glad you had a pretty day and love your pics ! I don't think you are suppose to feed fish in ponds? I get a pond society newsletter from time to time on my email but maybe that is just from this area ?

List List ! I have a list for every day... even for Saturday. I thought it was because I am compensating for something.... really my friends think it's funny...

Jean I've had my daytimer for 25 years. I just talked to DS and I'll make an appt for him next THursday.

Judy wow you are doing so well with the veggies ! Is that King Crab with Jacob? I love it but never seen it look like that... Jacob is spittin image of you Judy !
Congrats for both of you !

Dianne...hoping you keep some sunshine days.

Weather email said "Cool front" then "95* every day ....

Hugs
Mary

Morning all,

Sun is trying to come out on one side of the sky and rain clouds on the other so it's any bodies guess as to what it will be.. I've everything under control though, quilting if it rains and hypertufa mushrooms and garden work if it doesn't..
Yikes opened the refrigerator for milk for coffee and think there is a science project going on so it's first thing on that list of mine.

Omg Mary, something must be amiss if 2 plants had explosions, you never know these days if because of the Texas explosion there is a copycat doing mischief.. bet the situation will be under investigation. Glad Jeans hubby was home resting..will go read the link info.. Will you lose $$$ because ads not played and lost time ? I still think your coughing is stress related, witchypoo wasn't there and you felt 100%!

Didn't sleep well last night, I could almost go back to bed but won't, maybe an afternoon nap will be in order..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I just heard the news about those explosions, so sad!
OK, here are a fee pictures of my beach trip!

The beach, a man o war jelly fish that washed up on the shore, me feeding crackers to the seagulls, view from our room, and a dolphin at the aquarium.

Been so busy have no time to get away maybe till next yr. Never hurts to hope tho. My friend is a bee keeper so am going to go on the road with everything I can find to sell, even some of my daylilies and hostas and am going to sell honey and beeswax candles as a main product. I am going to help with extracting the honey and all with the buisness too. Did get stung twice the other day. I was always scared of being stung but got it on the wrist and on the nose and am no longer afraid but will have on a bee suit now. My youngest son Fred is going with me and set up and sell cause I don't want to do it all alone. Well must get ready. I am going out to lunch today. Never before have gone for meals and auctions and yard sales and visiting friends and taking rides and been treated so fine. Love you all and take care. BEV
Two of my seedlings. Top I have named Pillow Soft and the purple one is Lela after my mother.

Bev, sounds like it is about time, that you had some fun, and do things you want to do! Have lots of fun!

Love your blooms, they are beautiful!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

At the second plant, it was a container that ruptured...not an explosion...but deadly nontheless.

Glad you had a good birthday trip LindaKay.

Good morning to you all.

Victoria Harbour, ON

LindaKay, big smile here as I look at the photo's..you sure did deserve that trip..looks like fun was had by all..you should have invited us, can see us all on that beach..I could have picked up Debbie. Lol

Bev, I am more than smilling reading your post, I am beaming from ear to ear to see that you are finally getting out and doing things..marvellous..glad Fred is tagging along..Lela and Pillow Soft have such soft colors.

Jean, just seems when one thing happens more but days later..concerns me that your hubby could be in danger!

Well, I've done much, attacking back garden where the big picture frame is..transplanted the Indian blanket daisies (not sure they will survive) thre so many plants in the firepit, likely another few hours and it will be ok. Now I will have to go look for shorter plants that won't grow as high but give color.

Refrigerator done, hope my boys don't look in it, almost cleaned everything out except for pickles/jams, they would surely think I'm desperately in need of $$$ for groceries and offer again. Lol

My break is over, off to make a batch of hypertufa

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Thank you Betty...but as far as plant work goes, DH is at one of the safest plants in Louisiana. Any problems have been absolutely minor...and the plant works very closely with the LA Dept of Environmental Protection and OSHA (Occupational Safety&Health Administration.) The plant is considered an OSHA VPP Star company.

http://www.osha.gov/OshDoc/data_General_Facts/factsheet-vpp.pdf

DH is a trained first responder, EMT, Fire Response, Fire and Rope Rescue, Ambulance driver....all in addition to his regular Sr Tech job, and attends monthly training sessions in all those areas. It eats into his days off (they pay him to attend) but I know he is safe and always watching for situations in his sector. Sometimes i think he is safer in the plant than on the road to and from work....grin

I would not be surprised if heat didn't play a role in the container rupture Friday. The heat index was 106 and supposed to be higher today. Gets kinda scary when the index is that high and it is only June....typically our hottest months are mid July to late August.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well it sounds like you have no worry! How on earth do you all survive that heat?? Seems you are all more housebound than I in the dead of winter.

Did a bit more of the garden, turned out to be a fantastic day, enjoying my puttering but mind is in a million places re what can or should be done for Noah, I've dreamed up so many senerio's but he's not my son..wondering if before he turns 16 in November that maybe he should be hospitalized. Have put him in God's hands, just want to help where I can.

Now lunch time, have a wheel barrel full of hypertufa supplies ready to add water to but will eat, line and spray my containers then get ready to make a mess.

What are you all up to??

Isn't Mary doing her Father's Day gathering today?

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

I think you just get used to it Betty....You travel around in the coldest weather and I would be pretty close to housebound....I can handle most of the heat...guess that is why i am stuck in the kitchen....LOL

I mean no offense, but could Noah's current behavior be a bit of a "fit" over being made to return home? He seemed quite happy at your house.....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Don't tell me you are in the kitchen cooking up a storm???
Glad you feel hubby's work place is safe..I imagine roads and crazy drivers can be more dangerous

Just had lunch, now it's time to either take a nap or get out and get what needs done 'done' think it's outside to enjoy the rest of the afternoon then I can relax later on.

will call Greg and Mel tonight and get more info..going by what Kyle has been telling me, he usually is accurate, almost word for word..told me Monday Mel's bio dad came to Midland to take the boys out to eat, Noah would not go..Kyle did, in fact Charlie gave him $1,000 to put towards his car..Noah got a snowmobile this winter valued at about same, 2 rides and Noah had an accident if you remember and totalled it. Anyway, Charlie was really hurt that Noah was acting as he was with him after driving 1 1/2 hrs to come and take them out.

Perhaps before he turns 16 in November and nothing can be done that they should put him in the hospital and see if that helps

4th picture I was trying to capture a butterfly drinking from the plant, the last photo is a peony just opening, tall and magestic
