Hello,
I was given a peace Lilly 2 months ago and it's really lovely. I am very pleased with it but... I went on a little trip for 4 days and left my Lilly with my mum (with specific instructions)
I came home today to find it outside!!!!! It's leaves look like they've been scotched and the beautiful with flowers have also been burnt!
I have watered it but I'm just worried that is really been harmed.
Is there anything I should be doing?
Should I cut off the brown blooms or just leave them
Fingers crossed
Jessie
Browning peace Lily
Your plants leaves did, indeed, get scorched. Cut off the burnt ones, relocate inside and go back to your original routine with it. It will bounce back if treated right. Good luck!
Great.. Thank you so much.
Should I cut all the leave off that have been burnt? Because some are just a brownish green? Should I also cut the brown blooms off? If so where/how should I cut them off?
Thank you again for your help
Jessie
Snip the whole leaf if you like and the brown flowers. The plant should put it's energy into making new leaves. I cut right at the base.
Your mom probably thought she was doing the plant a favor, giving it a "vacation" outside. Gotta love your parents....*sigh*. (My mom killed a twenty year old Turbinocarpus [cactus] by watering it in January, because it "looked like it needed a drink.")
Kwanjin is right- these plants are tough, and will survive nearly anything. Cutting ruined foliage will just stimulate it to make more.
One thing I like to do is put them on a pebble tray; they like the extra moisture in the air around them. Just don't put too much water in there- the plant should be above the water, sitting on the pebbles.
Good luck, and keep us posted on how your peace lily is doing.
Marsha.
So how's your lily going at this time. Hope its a good news..
