I have this plant that started growing in a large whiskey barrel next to a golden plum tree I planted. Can anyone give me an idea as to what kind of plant it is? Any help would be very much appreciated. I would like to know if it's just a weed or what. It has about 7 or 8 smooth round shots coming up. They are pink /red in color. It's leaves are large. Almost as large as my hand. The leaves grow alternatively to one another.
Please help me with identifying this plant.
Japanese knotweed, extremely invasive.
Get rid as soon as Possible and don't throw it out but BURN it, every part as if it goes in the trash, it can spread all over the place and that plant is a nightmare and destroys every area it touches, it is an impost from Asia and was brought here to UK by plant finders who thought it would make a nice ornamental garden plant because of the leaf form but, one of those dreadful mistakes eh !!!!.
Best of luck. WeeNel.
How in the heck did it get in my flower pot? Thank you thank you everyone! I ripped that sucker out and the it in the burn barrel!
Remove the soil from the pot, too. Buy or make new soil to fill the pot.
Ok here is another one for you. I have this tree growing in my yard. It's been there for about three years now. Every year it grows straight up about 3 feet. It grows a bunch of branches out the top of the main shoot. Each branch has about 17 smooth green leaves, one across from the other one. With a leave at the end. The branches turn yellow and fall off every winter. It does not flower and has not grown any fruit on it as of yet. When the branches fall off the main the main stem, it leaves a kinda upside down triangle. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks!
