Ornamental sweet potato vine flower normal?

This morning while scoping my flower garden I came across this beautiful flower on my purple ornamental Sweet potato vine. I am not complaining, it's gorgeous. I was just wondering if this is normal. I have grown a lot of S/P vine and never had it flower before. Thanks for all comments/answers.

There are varieties that flower a lot and others that don't flower at all.This is Covington

Most definitely normal. If grown in the right conditions, almost any plant will flower. You had the right conditions. ^_^
