You've been a busy girl, Betty!

Victoria Harbour, ON

need you to come back and help..back yard starting to look like a forest!

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello All;

Thanks Marion and Jean.... a good lesson and the reason why all but one of my hostas are no more ! AND an idea about my last mallow seedling from Betty... maybe try planting in part shade.....

The heat has been unbearable as of late. Oh and Jean got goose bumps on your story of DGS re: Parents... like Marion did....

Deb I couldn't believe the treatment of that specialist... I agree perhaps find someone else... horrible bedside manner

DS's GF and I (just the 2 of us) went to a Gelato making class today... in New Orleans. We had fun but she had to get back for work... It was our first outing just her and I... Love her .....
Joyce.. yes you are right... the trade off from semi gardening in February is that it's pretty darn hot as Hades right now LOL....
Hope everyone had a great day...
HUGS
Mary

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning everyone, it's a sunshine day in my neighborhood today!

Mary, is there a structured program you have to attend re gelato..so glad you enjoyed the day..

I've about an hour or so a sewing and my two swaps are done, wow, mega work, but so worth it, figure by 10 housework will be done and dampness left the air.
Need to clean that mess I made yesterday and do some

birds are chirping, calling me outside so best I get at it

Sure hooe you see sunshine in your neck of the woods and get to enjoy ...anything special going on?

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

awfully quiet here today. We woke up to thunder storms...got an inch of rain in a rather short time. Now the sun is out, no breeze and the humidity is climbing....but that won't be a problem because more thunderstorms are on the way....as BB King says....the thrill is gone....grin

Oh, a funny...I mentioned that I sent out a number of pkgs of lycoris bulbs....one of the lovely ladies I sent them out to sent me the postage for them by Registered/certified mail....very sweet of her in insure receipt, but I am always just tickled when the recipient sends the postage....I am sure it cost her almost as much as the package did.

Hope everyone has a safe, lovely day

Jean

Victoria Harbour, ON

jean do you have trouble breathing in the humidity? Sun, rain, sun, bet it's helping the gardens. Wonderful that you were reimbursed..likely she is appreciative getting lycoris.

In and out Jean, it's 70' very light breeze..perfect day
Just came in for a break, a drink, wipe my face and back out there. Not sure I am winning the battle, shucks I'm pulling out flowers, so thick..I do love country gardens, helter skelter, then I see Joyce and others gardens and I think, gee, would be nice having it more manicured so what is a person suppose to do??

Sat by the pond, Judy, even had tunes playing,haven't seen more than 3 fishes out (think some are hiding or something got them) so although I fed them this a.m. I thought while they re out I'd feed again so the get used to beng hand fed..now watch, likely I have fed too much and they will perish...hope not!

Joyce, made a set of mushrooms and could do anotherlater this evening..can't do them too early otherwise they would cure and I'd not be able to distress before I get home at 5:30..1 set is for Linda 's 60th and the other set I'll give to mom, still trying to use up supplies

Debbie, few daisies are in bloom, thought now here is Debbie coming to keep be company, all ok in your end of the world?

Susan, are you off camping
Would like to wash all the lawn furniture so better not sit too long or it will be end of my work

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Not usually Betty....but a combination of heat and humidity can make doing anything harder. It is easier to overheat when it is extremely humid....sweat just won't evaporate and the body has to work harder to cool itself....heat stroke is more prevalent when the humidity is high in summer.

I have a very hard time pulling up flowers.....I worked so hard for so long to get them to thrive....that is why i wound up with 26 planting beds....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Know the feeling Jean, thought came to mind that I should dig somewhere else and replant but sanity prevailed, nope, enoughs enough. Don't you think we get on a mission vs taking smaller steps in the garden and exhaust ourselves..I'm at that point right now...nice bath and relax...had intentions of making more mushrooms but looks as though it will be another day.

Have you ever had heat stroke Jean? Hmm thinking earlier on that I should buy myself a gardening hat

House next door to me is up for sale, so hoping whoever moves in likes to garden as that house is same as when I bought this one, count the plants over there on two hands, would it be nice of me to share?? Lol

Melanie just dropped n for a visit, I was washing table/chairs out in the back forty, as every year I'm asked why I can sit about 40 people and there is only me and I never sit? Good question I guess, she said I could save myself so much work..maybe another year, managing this year so far.

Still 3 beds need weeding and edging, that Noah up the road has become a no show again!

Lyndonville, NY

Everything is OK here, just keeping her meds going and trying to get nourishment in her seems to be more difficult. But she is
doing all she can and resting, which she needs. Nights are hard for both, up and down with meds. She isn't so groggy today.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Glad she is improving..likely take some time before she is eating solids. You must totally be exhausted!! You are one fantastic mom, hooe she knows that.

Melanie was telling me he sold his jeep, got what he asked for, will pick up his grandparents car Wednesday..not so sure how he will feel about that, not as cool as a convertible jeep but more dependable, cheaper on gas..let's hope he doesn't regret it.

Bath time..think supper will be baked potato and Weiners, drats, that restaurant next door should be open Sundays don't you think?

Lyndonville, NY

Considering she stole my special blanket....she is doing OK. I looked over and she is zonked in DH's recliner with my blanket...and my cat! lol

I think Kyle is more practical than "looking cool". And he has had a few issues with the jeep, so maybe that was enough to let go easily.

I had a baked potato last night, melted some cheese on top with a few bacon bits. Was very good, along with a salad. DH said he was hungry
for italian sausages, so sent him on a run to the store.....along with banana pudding. Have some going bad and don't want to waste it, so will make a
banana and wafer pudding.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I hope so, know that when I bought my car in July tried to get him to take the Aveo but just not a kid car! Yes he spends mega $$ on the jeep, of course it has to have everything done to it, guy who bought it said it looked like you could eat off the floor, likely you can. Should loan him mine, need a good cleaning again.

Your favorite blanket and which kitty? Have to get you here one weekend to make her a blanket of her own.

Bath felt good, think I shall put my head down for a bit.n

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

No Betty....never had heat stroke. that was something my Mom drummed into us as kids....taught us all the warning signs...we moved to extreme So La from Northern Illinois when i was 6...Mom was an Army nurse before she married and continued to work after we moved south.It was like moving to the Tropics.....hot humid and mosquitoes....

Good that Shannon is resting....good thoughts for her.

Betty hope you had a nice lie-down....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Jean, I think ou've sent Mosquitos my way..went to put tools away before settling in, Lordy, even a few got under my jammie top, glad I'm secluded because I had to lift my top and shoo them..Jean at 6 Louisiana is home..huess you would never dream of moving north

Omg Joyce, news is showing a lady celebrating her 90th by doing the edge walk outside at CN tower..she was a nurse, brave as cn be..her kids went with her but wouldn't go out onto the ledge. So her grandchildren went out with her..not something on my bucket list. I'm trying to drum up enough courage to go up st Louis arch..shouldn't be a problem after the CN tower lunch but a different way of rising to the top.

Speaking of St.Louis wonder how Janice is doing?

Just dropping in to say hi to everyone...Y'all take care..

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All ;

Betty the Gelato making class was a free course.... it was very informal during what seemed to be a festival re: local and organic foods... we went and ate there afterwards but I had a coughing spell and I'm really embarrassed and upset about that. It seemed to be getting better. But sometimes when I am overheated....

Kyle is learning responsibility... that is good... the kid's first vehicle was a banged up truck that DH used to drive... hoping they would be protected from accidents and no worries about dents and scratches. LOL you never sit... but look at you... when you get a big group over like you have a few times last year... you don't have to worry about seating.... right? worked in back yard more than I should today but I want it to look nice. I suppose for Fathers Day.... would like to boil crawfish but we'll probably just do hamburgers.... they are all busy and I don't want to stress everyone out with a lot of work.

Jean ... I think we have lycoris.... Hubs brought it home... it blooms with no leaves? well we may have lost it... it didn't bloom last year but as I recall it blooms in the off season..... hope you are doing well... have any upcoming festivals/plans?
Debbie... almost mentioned smoothies again but I remember you're not able to go down that path... but I hope she is feeling better. LOVED the COL syndrome... "Cat on Lap". Hubs can claim that...

I'm still looking for ressies for class reunion. Tourism must be back on the Gulf because prices are up and I'm trying to wheel and deal... no luck so far....

Hugs
Mary

Lyndonville, NY

Mary, I attempted smoothies, but she can't have anything thick like that right now. It creates too much milky mucus in her throat, even with lactaid.

We had to switch from tylenol with codiene, to just liquid tylenol....the other was causing stomach issues.

It is going to be a busy week with her and have two appointments myself.

Finally had a day without rain, dh did the garden. I did a tiny bit of cleaning , filled feeders outside and basically entertained DD.

Watching end of Blind Side and going to bed.

Sweet dreams

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Mary, it is time for you to go back to the Dr. for that cough! It has been lingering far too long now!
Debbie, good luck with all your Dr. appointments.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Mary, The red and the yellow Lycoris do bloom without leaves...I know the yellow blooms in Sept/Oct and it can be resentful of being disturbed and may take a year to bloom. No festivals right now...playing catchup from DD's visit....lots of things got put off "til Later" now it is time to pay Later's till...grin Trying to get the succulents and orchids repotted and figuring out how to rework the green house. I lost one to Gustav and the original needs repairs and a new skin.....Hopefully by the time I hit 65 i will have things sorted and settled into a low maintenance routine....sigh....yeah, maybe grin

Debbie, can Shannon handle frozen yogurt? It is usually easier on the stomach and works with antibiotics.

I had the opportunity when I was 19 Betty...my parents moved back up North....that wasn't where I wanted to be, so Louisiana is home now.

Victoria Harbour, ON

morning all, can you tell me why the only time I want to stay in bed has to be on a work day?

Overcast today, high of 64F, see that Debbie is closer to 70,s and rain in your neck of the woods Jean/Mary..Marion in the 90's
LindaKay, hot one for you.

Cody, what's keeping you so busy these days, you are flitting in and out, we don't get time to chat with you?

So wish we'd hear something from Deb, anyone know someone who might be in touch? Sending prayers.

Barb and Lindakay, are you both feeling better?

Jean, I just hit 65 and haven't got gardens under control, high order for you lol
I so envy you having a green phones. Wonder if I had one would I use it?

Mary likely when I go to Buffalo n the summer, rates almost double so I'm best taking a drive for the day just makes for long day..don't wait too long and then you can't find any.

Debbie, you are always on the go..will Paul be taking holidays this summer, imagine, a year has gone by since our reunion..often think while out in the gardens how much fun we had..

Have parcels ready to mail for my swaps so best I get a move on, want to do it before I start work this morning

Gab in a bit

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Sciatica is hanging in there Betty. Just doesn't want to let go. I'm calling a chiropractor today and see if that won't help loosen this muscle up a bit. Last time I had it this bad was in 1992 and ended up with it for three months!! Got to put a stop to it soon as I can't settle long enough to do anything.....

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Can't remember if I told you that we went to Mary's Plant Farm on Friday. Awesome gardens laid out and they will dig right out of their beds for you. They also have rows of perennials that they dig as well. Bought a few things, one being Bracken. Loved the ferny look of it, but goodness I have had so many give me negative reports, now I'm afraid to put it in my beds! What I started out to tell you was that Mary is 92. She was edging beds when we were there. She looks about 80. Her daughter says she adds another bed all the time. Says we don't need this much grass!

Yesterday, one of the ladies on the tour was 80. She gardens on a hill and does everything herself. Said it took two and a half pickup loads of much for her paths this year. She doesn't have any grass. Everything is planted. It was just amazing.

Betty I nearly choked on my coffee when you said I had manicured gardens! I don't think of them that way at all! They are just thick with everything planted beside each other cause I have this disease that doesn't allow me to say no to any plant that speaks to me!

I was up at 6:30 today. Not early for you, Betty, but about an hour early for me. What do I find when I go to walk the kingdom???? Rain, rain and more rain. Radar looks like it will be here for hours, too. Had big plans for outside today. Sigh.....suppose after I take Bill to the Dr.'s office I could clean house....nah..... ;o)

Victoria Harbour, ON

hi again,

Joyce, see you are as busy as ever, so how many pretties did you come home with? What you are trying to tell me then is more time in the gardens the younger I will feel and look? not sure that will happen. Am making headway though..going to rain here today and tomorrow..

Barb, am sure there is new medication available now that won't dope you up and help..feel for you.How is Norm doing?

drats fell down staircase coming out of the house, d*&n sandals and needly to say had 2 big parcels in my hand that I was going to post this a.m. and didn't see where I was going..guess I grabbed myself and pulled muscles..Suzanne want me off to emerge to get checked out but will sit here a bit a lick my wounds, am sure its just muscles..does hurt when I breathe..

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh gosh, Betty, listen to Suz...

Lyndonville, NY

Good morning,

Betty, get ice on your injury....and head to the ER. I am paying big time for not doing the same!!!

We are very overcast here Betty, looks like it is going to rain. Shannon is in more pain today than has been. I think all the surgery crud is out of her
system.

Moonie, she is taking yogurt pops and likes this. I think that is the major nourishment she is getting into her. She is the fussiest eater every. Even
her doctors have said that since she was a baby. Doesn't even like mashed potatoes! That is so not right! Just this year she has started eating baked
potato if it has cheese melted on it. Oh yes, broccoli she started eating this year also....first thing green ever!

I have so enjoyed all of your garden pictures this weekend. Haven't posted much but have read....ya'll keep me going! Joyce your gardens are so peaceful
looking. I so want a water feature....but with DH not making up his mind about moving....I don't dare!

Betty...get checked out!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Had a long post, off in cyber space now....

I was complaining that I picked up a bracken fern and paid $13 dollars for it. It was so beautiful, tall, maybe 4 ft. Had to have it. She warned me 3 times that it ran. I said ok, ok, ok. Then others started talking about how you can't get rid of this no matter what. I was going to pot it so it wouldn't take off, but I just read that not only does it go by runners, it can reproduce by spores, too. Sigh....don't know what to do with it now. Scared to put it in the garden. Debbie, thanks for the compliment. I do so love the garden. It finally stopped raining so guess I could go pull some poison ivy seedlings.

I did come home with the sweetest little shrub on Friday. It's "Leptodermis oblonga". Says it blooms all summer. I'm sure I can find a place for this!!!

Hi Betty,i was busy this past weekend.It was my son birthday last week.He is 8 years old now.

I hope everyone feels better soon.

Have a geat day y'all!!!

Cody

Victoria Harbour, ON

Cody, 8 is a nice age, not yet sassy lol

Lol Betty..I got sad the day of his birthday,because my baby is growing up.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Betty, are you feeling better? We didn't hear from you for a few hours and I was starting to worry. Did you go to the ER?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just sitting quietly, I've taken 2 pain killers and they've done the trick at the moment, just sitting putting voltaren on..good ole voltaren.

Paul could hear something was wrong in my voice, told me to go home but I'm sure by tomorrow all will be ok.

With the virus that's going around the last place I want to be is in a hospital catching the germ.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

That's what I'm wondering about Bill. He's been going every day to feed his Dad lunch at the nursing home. Wonder if he got a bug there?

Glad you aren't in any pain.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well, when you are flying high you don't feel pain lol

Both Paul and Suzanne had that awful bug, they think they got it on the plane
know that they are saying this virus is spreading like wildfire and sitting in emerge for 3 or 4 hours well, not going... if I feel bad tonight/morning then I will

Sure hope the doctor has some answers for Bill Joyce..

Verona, ON

```````` Waving to everyone. Still wet and damp here.
Dianne
Baton Rouge, LA
Hello To All;
Dianne... hoping you and Diesel get some sunshine !
Southgal... Happy birthday to your DS8 !
Joyce :) Love that disease... I can't say no to plants too....
Barb I'm a big believer in Chiro.... have an "S" Shaped spine... and I go every 6 weeks or so... I hope you have a good one and it helps you out...
OH BETTY I'm so sorry that you fell but as usual you are being too casual about it... go home and get some medicine... hot bath etc. Paul knows you are never out.
Deb I love Blindside... makes me cry every time. Glad Shannon is getting some yogurt pops. My picky one is now dating a chef and he is getting her to eat green stuff for the first time. That's what it took... I told his Mom at the crawfish boil...he got her to do what it took me 10 years and no go.
Jean :o) so glad you picked Louisiana at 19 ! I picked it at 23... who'd have thunk I'd end up here LOL... yes the Lycoris must be mad at hubs for moving it....bet you are busy catching up on everything...
LK (HUGS) well the Dr wants to put a scope down my throat so I don't want to do that. I thought long and hard about what had "changed" and I ran out of my Nexium prescription so I'm thinking that is why the cough came back..... will try to get another script... Hope you get better soon yourself.... and how is the PUP ?
Betty and all... you are so right. I figured it out today DUH! I'm trying to make ressies for 6/28 class reunion never thinking it is ..... in that area..... the July 4th holiday week.... that's why it's booked up. I remembered this old condo near where we stay... Hubs and I always joke that it is haunted.... the "El Matador" circa 1852 (just joking at that).... they have 2 condos left at $$ more than I want but I will probably book...if anything we can laugh and say we stayed there.....it's right at the end of Santa Rosa Island so we will be close to our Shell Gathering Area......
Hugs
Mary
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Hey Mary, sure ope you get those meds filled soon!
I am feeling better, and Luna is doing fine!
Victoria Harbour, ON
Morning all,
59F, overcast, are calling for rain, what a jungle out there..will post a few photo's I took this a.m. In search of flowers, not sure how they can survive and bloom when all else has tripled in size! Yikes, you get eaten within minutes, sitting here scratching my head.
Mary, Mary what will we do with you, think you should have meds on hand at all times. Now if you don't go for one of those condo's, haunted or not, ohhh ohh maybe the ghost could share the cost seeng they are using the condo as well...anyway if you don't book and nothing available would that mean you cannot go??
Very achy this a.m. But doesn't hurt when I breathe, ribs hurt when I turn but all o.k.
Glad to hear both you and Luna are on the mend lindaKay..you haven't mentioned sewing for some time, have you retired your sewing machine for the summer?
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Morning Betty, glad to hear your doing better today!
I have been sewing a few small things, but not much! I need to get some quilts done.
I made this tote bag for a swap. Since she does not post here, I can show you!
(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)
Ohhh Betty I am hurting just thinking about your tumble...you NEED to slow down at least half a step !!!!!
Beautiful tote LK.
Cody, My baby turns 25 this year. Yikes ! sometimes I feel old :)
I think my Momma coughed for two years when she had the hooping cough, it was horrible. feel bad for you Mary. Maybe it is also something else tho??? an Allergy perhaps??
Barb, sorry to hear that your hip / leg is bothering you. I sure know it can hurt :( Hoping mine will allow me to get some sewing done today.
