Best/Worse/What did You learn today! Chat with friends

Grey , rainy day out there. and every joint in my body is expressing their dismay. I did want to stop by and send my positive thoughts and prayers for Melissa and Ann. Delighted to read the docs put the stitch in Melissa's cervix. Like Debbie I was wondering why

Also I am shocked at the treatment you and Shannon received yesterday Debbie. Absolutely shocked although I guess I should not be surprised as doctors as a profession are not exempt from being callous and nutbars.. The Endo doc I see on a yearly basis is brilliant but has no beside manner at all. I cringe when she talks to me. She was the one who chastised me for being so upset at our appointment last year less than a month after Warren passed. She told me I should have been over all the emotion I was feeling. Can you get on a wait list for someone else? Don't jump although I know you won't until you have had a second opinion. Do you have another doc you trust that you can run this whole scenario by? Might be worth getting their input.

Hoping you all are finding something to brighten your day

Dianne.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Dianne, I can't believe a doctor told you that you should be over all the emotion after one month!! How horrible.....it took me almost 6 months before I could say Ross' name without breakdown. I don't care how good a doctor is if they don't have any compassion or bedside manner....I am out of there. Almost 9 years later I still have very emotional days and I have a feeling I am not alone with this issue.

Sorry you don't feel so good today. My knee is bothering me some today but then we are having some what of a tropical downpour here. Not as bad as my sister is getting but still heavy rains....they say it is going to get worse as the day goes on. Think I will get my Nook and just snuggle down and read for the day.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Marion, I agree, they can be the best Dr. but if they have no compassion they do not deserve to be a Dr. When I first hurt my back, I was seeing a back specialist, and after 3 visits, he told me the pain was all in my head, to go back to work and get over it! That is when I found another Dr.

Victoria Harbour, ON

How depressing is that, getting those types of answers when you are in extreme pain..there should be special classes during their studies that provide them with the tools they need, guess they just get callous and don't even realize it.

Shucks, it's been 22 years since Roger died and I'm still emotional at times..some days I can't stand myself and I ask 'so what anniversary or event is bringing this on' an always, something comes to mind.

When I was in Florida for the winter about 12 years ago, I got quite ill, infact they did test where they put me out and suggested right after that I get home as soon as possible so that my Doctor could deal with issues..call me Dr.'s office when I got home to explain the situation, had to wait more than a week to get appointment, when I told him I wasn't pleased he said pointing at my weight 'if it is cancer, it would take forever to eat through it, so there is no hurry!' imagine!

We have an appointment at Strong Neurology July 12. I never cancelled that appointment "just in case" when we got this one.
I feel better knowing that.

Dianne, I remember that so well when that doctor told you that. So very upsetting. I was told by one of the "old timers" at Strong that the
doctors tend to get "emotionally blocked" from seeing so much tragedy, and that some of these younger ones need a dose of reality
and bedside manner classes. It is usually the younger ones we have seen this problem with.

One of our Oncology doctors from when she was little required ANYONE who worked with him to take a course in psychology of palliative care and
hospice care....so they could learn how to take care of critical situations better. I think those under him would sit and listen better...and helped others
more.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I think they should have courses in psychology and palliative care. I think anyone who works as a CNA should also have some class time in the subject. It only takes 70 hours of class work to get certified to be a CNA where my mom is living. Well, let me clarify that statement, that is what my sister told me after she did some research on regulations. Most definitely need longer time before doing that type work....especially with long term care patients.

Glad you didn't cancel the July appointment Debbie.

Oh the rains are coming down and it is so dark outside......makes me so sleepy.

Hi - I saw my doctor yesterday. He's wonderful and told me I've done really well recovering from my knee surgery. wish I could clone him. Like Tony. Sometimes we get lucky. I had a headacahe which he thought was tension but about two hours later I threw up so I went back this morning to leave him a message that it was probably a 24 hour bug - which I have now maybe spread all over Kaiser!! I'm feeling better.

Took a sewing machine in to a nice old repairman who will get it cleaned and oiled for one of my Mexican girls - at their charity price of $40. I'm pricing insulation and bamboo curtains for my bedroom ceilings.

Praying for the babies.

Barb, If you can find a Feldenkrais practitioner they can hlep with sciatica. Tapes may be available online - the are a bit hard to listen to but can work miracles.

hugs, katie

Victoria Harbour, ON

That's what you get when you listen to the doctors Katie, clean bill of health re your knee surgery, not so good though that you have a bug..a few days of rest before you head home is what is needed.

Think that's what happens Katie is when we do get a wonderful doctor we spread the news and before you know it they are overloaded, tired and grouchy.

Dianne, seems this damp weather is getting to our bones, no fun at all. Do you have a fire going to keep Diesel and yourself toasty warm.

Just went to fabricland, needed a few things, wasn't raining when I went in but raining when I came out...guess I'll be resting tonight, maybe I can work on a project I need done in order to get it ready for posting Monday, swaps you know, keeps one busy.

Sounds as though you are all in, snuggled in some fashion due to the rain.

Lyndonville, NY

Just found out DD's surgery is at 7:30. We have to be there for 6:45. Glad it is that time and not later.

Went and got my hair trimmed.....about 10 inches! yikes! Looks good though I think so far.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Bet it looks adorable on you Debbie..Glad the surgery is early, we will be waiting to hear how Shannon made out..hugs coming your way as I know are fretting.

Imagine, I'm laying on the couch already having bathed and ready to call it a day..at least to just lay here doing nothing, wind is just a howling.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

...and the rain is coming down!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Marion, did your construction worker finish the craft/guest room? Think it's rain for the entire country..it keeps threatening here, few drops then it stops.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Show us your haircut Debbie? Bet it looks nice!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

He didn't work today as the weather was so bad. He lives on the other side of Tally and they were getting it much worse than we did on the west side. Also with no a/c it would be a hard job for the plaster to dry. Hopefully tomorrow will not be as wet...maybe!!!!

Nice thing about this type of heavy rain, it is making a natural river bed that I will one day get around to landscaping. Water runs down the road and onto my driveway, down one side and off a corner down through part of the lot.....I really like it is cutting it's own natural path.

Victoria Harbour, ON

How are you feeling LindaKay? Are the new meds helping.

Just called my brother Mike, his birthday today. He is hoping to return to work Monday, still a few problems but will see the specialist mid week and get a report.
Tomorrow is step father Jim's birthday..I'd best not forget to call.

Victoria Harbour, ON

As long as you don't get flooding..yes I imagine humidity and being damp goes against good tape'ing..is it a hurricane front moving in?

Lyndonville, NY

LindaKay, I am only doing this for you....lol Don't show anyone else. I can't get very good lighting.

G o r g e o u s lady Debbie, easier for you to look after.

On phone with Kyle, he has someone coming to look at his jeep, his grandparents bought new vehicle, theirs is 2008 so Kyle will get it! Sooo here is hoping

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks Debbie, love the new cut!

Betty, I have been pain free for about 3 days now, and praying it stays that way! Still waiting to hear something from the specialist, if I don't hear anything, I have to wait till August 6th.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, any news on the babies? How did surgery go for her?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Haven't heard since morning when they said operation went well, babies healthy..sure hope next 3 or 4 weeks goes well

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, we need next two months....at a minimum, never mind 3 or 4 weeks! Closer to October the better.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yep, was giving worse scenerio..would make all the difference in Ann's life..Mike was an only child, with her two daughter in their 30's and never having permanent relationship she all but gave hope there would be no grandchildren..I could see Ann selling her place and moving to the city to be closer to them.

Kyle has been working for what seems forever on co-op, no pay except for 2 hrs daily and Saturdays, today he told his boss that co ops over, boss said not until the 21st, Kyle said he had letter saying he had his hours so if he wasn't getting paid till 21st he would leave and come back at 3pm when his paid hours started.

Two of their full time stagg quit early winter and Kyle's been looking after front desk, order desk and anything else they've thrown his way.

So as Kyle started to leave he said punch in and you get paid as of now for hours worked, guess Kyle felt he just wasn't sweeping floors and deserved more $$ and asked him for raise, got $1.00 an hour, then just before leaving the shop one of the owners said come alk to me next week, you earned a bonus while on co op. soooo hoping it's a good one.

He was so chatty tonight

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good for Kyle, standing up to his boss! Hope it is a good bonus.

Morning, overcast day, we did get rain during the night so there will be no grass cutting today, just too wet and as I have a list a mile long to do after 3pm when my shift here is over and its to Midland I go.

Are you all safe from bad weather? USA sure is being hit hard..
I have our 2013 Roadtrip all planned, hotels booked, attractions ready to book online but I'm thinking with the trip involving Missouri,Louisiana and Tennessee I should have an alternate planned just incase..know it's 2 years in a row we've had to bypass. St. Louis due to tornado activity..just don't trust the weather.

I'm in 2 swaps and a round robin, if I'm a good girl between what I've got done and will pick up today I will be able to post on Monday.

At least when it's dark/gloomy outside it gives me the urge to get things done.

Dianne, do you watch Murdock Mysteries?? They were here filming season debut
On the S S Keewatin that is docked here, from photo's in paper I will have to mark it on calendar to watch end of September. I do enjoy the show..

Well, computer is set up for my day, housework done so it's off to play in the sewing room.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Betty, sounds like your going to have another busy day!

Victoria Harbour, ON

How are you feeling today? How is your dad doing?

Not too strenuous, just trying to get these projects done so I can finish the wedding quilt then get to play in the gardens when sun allows. Is it raining there today?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Guess I'm not quilting the white/black quilt this morning, Riley after running the roads all night decided she has a better idea..
