I may, or may not, be interested in acquiring a red-flowering chestnut. They are in bloom here in Michigan, and really are quite attractive.
However: I'm not convinced. The ("horse") chestnuts I had in the past were singularly "dirty" trees. The worst part was the tough, thorny hulls which surrounded the nuts. They were always hard to clean up, hard to see in the grass, and terrible to step on with bare feet.
Advice, please:
Does the red flowering variety produce the same kind of obnoxious nut husks?
red flowering chestnuts: desireable or not?
