Best/Worse/what did I Learn today? Chat with friends

Baton Rouge, LA

OMG.... sad days for my friends.....

Betty - I think with YOU is the best place for Noah to be....but as a Mom of a 21 year old boy (who was Noah's age a very short time ago) LOCK up those painkillers and go through all your meds. Unfortunately we had reason to do this about 4-5 years ago. It was unbelievable the prescription meds we had that were expired or unnecessary.

The good news is he called the hot line! Think very carefully of that. It is important ! (HUGS)

Jean.... I hope I do get to see your plants one day.... I can totally understand wanting more days to enjoy and not work in the yard especially in our heat. Have you ever seen a weiglia in our area? (wrong spelling I know).

DEBBIE! NO! not pneumonia..... just when I think you can't handle one more thing. You need some beach time.

Dianne... upset to see you are having the dizzies again. I am so disappointed they haven't been able to help you find something to alleviate this. I don't suppose ginger cookies / ginger wouldn't help? After my cough issues I'm so much more inclined to trust mother nature..... still coughing from time to time and I'm eating more honey than ever... it helps.

(HUGS) JUDY! Glad to see you....What are Jake and Breenie up to ?

Difficult day but trying to keep a good perspective.

Mary

Betty...sending big hugs.

Mary is right. The good news is he called the hotline...which means he is reaching out for help. First big step.

I wonder if there is a bully or such at school making life difficult...along with normal teen issues.
Definitely he needs more counseling....as said, not a one time thing. We had issue with our oldest
at age 14, very similar but didn't reach out. Tried to jump out of car while taking her to counselor.

One thing will say, make sure you are strict and do not coddle him as in give in to all his wants. They
can also play you....(pray pray pray that is not going to happen....but he needs to know he is loved and
wanted...but has rules and guidelines like the others.

HUGS, Thank you all for the get well wishes.....I feel like a limp noodle...but resting and behaving.

Debbie

Betty, so sorry to hear all that is going on at your place! sending lots of prayers and (((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))) for all!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Dear Betty, I'm so sorry to hear all that is happening in your world right now. My love and prayers go out to you.
And to you Dianne and to Debbie. You are all strong women and will see this through but know you have our prayers. Sure wish we could offer more.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Betty, like the others I am thinking and sending prayers. I am beginning to think the children growing up today are more stressed and confused than we were when we were younger. Did kinds of pressures that we never had for sure.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning,
Sun just starting to come out, had heavy/heavy torrential downpour early this a.m.
DonValley Parkway in Toronto in lowlands has 2 or 3 ft. of water covering it..people sitting on hoods of cars..roads closed..Brampton is being checked as they think a small tornado may have passed..

My gardens sure are wet..drats, forgot to even look downstairs to see if I had flooding.

Mike was being operated on early this morning so am waiting to hear how it went..

Noah, although his Dr. said he didn't have to finish his year got up to go to school, I personally think its best but who am I..told him if once he put in his school day if he didn't want to go to work to after school that would be ok..seems his boss is overwhelming and unkind..Kyle works there, many have quit but guess Kyle lets it roll off his back while Noah takes everything to heart (more like his grandma than I'd like) gave him my business card, told him that IF EVER he is finding it hard, that he's up against something he'd rather not call his parents about to call me and I'd be there..

Also told him to be on the lookout today as would I for 'best/worse/what did I learn today? and we'd sit have supper and discuss it. I truly think if evening meals with entire families would sit and do same it might give clues as to what is hurting them.

Heavy heart today, lots of responsibility..what if? what if? I were to miss the smallest of thing and something were to go wrong?

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Prayers for you Betty, Debbie and all.
My oldest son Joe and family lost their new trailer and all belongings in a micro burst of wind the other night, He almost had a breakdown. They lost one car too. He lost his meds for depression and went and got drunk and left her stranded at work, but she found him and called me at midnight to tell me she was taking him back to motel and he was ok. So many things happening to so many. Stay well. LOVE BEV

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Bev, so sorry to read that about your son. Sending hugs and prayers that all will be okay. Depression is bad enough but being with your meds is terrible......my daughter takes meds but every now and then (especially if we have gone to see her grandmother and stay longer than planned) she does run out and wow.....the difference.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Bev, prayers and hugs going your way..

Right now the worse seems to be happening to many of us, the best, we keep on moving forward and what did we learn..sure is heartwarming to know at the touch of a key we have friends who are like family there in support of us...

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Betty, I think we all are so grateful that with a simple key stroke we have our internet friends to support us.....I am with you.

I am also so happy that mental illness is not as dirty word as it was when I was growing up......it happens, it is an illness therefore let's address it and treat. I know it is in our family with several members but with proper counseling and meds it can be controlled. I might add those with it can be very productive members of society too. My love and prayers for you and Noah.

Mind you, that is not saying Noah has mental illness ie: depression but if it is then take the next step with counseling.

Victoria Harbour, ON

did ask him how long since he's had these thought, his answer was 'as long as I can remember' imagine, who would have thought it..that is the hardest part, the NOT seeing it!

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, that is the reason my son said he left....he couldn't take the thoughts in his head, and needed a new start. One never knows...and
Noah has reached out and is talking.

I so feel for these young kids..

Suzanne should have stayed home today, was awfully quiet, I'm sewing to pass the time of day, looked in her office and here she is sleeping on the floor in a corner

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Oh Dear Lord, I thank You for all You have done for us near and far. I come asking for Your help with all these very dear people. This world has become something that we can't deal with anymore and we need Your steadying influence. We do love and support one another but sometimes we need just a bit more. May Your love for us shine through for all those in need here. From a grateful heart for Your blessings. Amen

((((Betty))) My goodness your burden right now is heavy but we are all here to help support you. Very thankful that Noah has found refuge with you and is willing to share his feelings verbally. That was a big step he made telling you he has had these thoughts forever.Lots of tough love needed and Debbie is right he could try to play you but you are clever enough to catch it. Sure hope Greg and Mel will set up regular sessions with a counsellor. I am sure you already have thanked God that Noah had the ability to call that helpline. I worked on once in Toronto and just knowing what a wonderful family support he has even if he can't see it right now is such a bonus for his healing. Agree totally with Marian there is no way I would want to be a kid in school right now or have a child in their teens. The pressures today are overwhelming. Couldn't agree with you more about the family sitting down together for at least 1 meal a day.

Well I am totally a bad mom and have probably scarred Diesel for life. lol It was his first BD yesterday and I totally forgot. His breeder emailed BD wishes. Back on an even keel today and it only took 48 hours this time.While I could drive today I won't... nothing I need to go out for anyway.

Oh Bev I am so sorry to read of your son troubles. I am also very glad his DW found him before he got himself into a mess.Hopefully his doc was able to get his meds are back on track by now. Dealing with such devastation has to be overwhelming.

Good to see you Katie.

Mary it is so good to see you being optimistic and not letting that woman get to you. Mint helps the upset stomach that accompanies the dizzies so I always keep mint tea and peppermints on hand. Course Diesel just loves his 1 peppermint he gets each night at bedtime.

~~~~~ to all. Sending positive thoughts.
All your posts are so positive, kow it's likely a teenphase but as you know it still weighs heavily!
Dianne, thank you for the lovely post..am glad you are feeling better, maybe this is the day you could have a birthday party for Diesel, we'll all sing along in hopes he thinks it is today and not yesterday. Did you have anyof the bad weather we had early this a.m. Did you watch breakfast television re bad effects the storm has had.
Sharon just called, Mike is out of the operating room, they are hoping the preceedure will work.If all ok he'll come home Saturday or Sunday..he's not a patient person so here is hoping that's as long as they will keep him.
Although it must really be uncomfortable on the floor Suzanne is in a deep sleep..if she's still sleeping when we go out to lunch I'll lock up, leave her a note and head over to Fabricland..once again I need thread..great having something to pass the time..doing a quilt with leftover yellow/blue fabric I had left from morning glory quilt and cafe teapot quilt. Interesting design..block end up 16" squares, depending on size of finished quilt might add an extra row to width and length. Not feeling up to it really but if I dont my mind will take paths I don't want to walk.
Watched BT Betty and just was horror struck when I saw the DVP. Can you imagine the chaos trying to get to work today? Sounds like some of public transportation is affected also. Wonder how many people called in sick today? If they didn't have a headache before their commute they surely would once they got to work. We just had heavy rain. It finally stopped about an hour ago and now news says more with T and L this afternoon. Great!
I think Diesel was too busy taking care of me the last 2 days to even think about his BD. lol He is a blessing as he sticks like glue to me when I have these spells. Steve was here to fix something and Diesel wouldn't even go for a walk with him until I wobbled to the door and said it is OK Diesel. He'll be listening to the wind to hear you all sing. Sniffing that air for cake too I am sure.
Here I am asking for prayers again..things just get worse..
Ann was going to visit her friend near Kingston, (not far from your neighborhood Dianne), as she doesn't like driving that much she decided to take a bus, was to be gone all week..she no sooner got on the bus that her cel rang, they did testing on her daughter Lee-Ann who is pregnant with twins and is not doing well with the pregnancy..seems as soon as they did testing this morning, determined it is a boy and a girl that something else they saw and rushed her to Mount Siani (?) she is due mid October so not good news..ann tried to get off the bus, guess the bus driver didn't want to stop as it wasn't his regular stop and she freaked so managed to get off..she just got to the hospital and is frantic..
Bet Diesel told you I was singing off key right?
Sharon told me she thought the weatherman said rain all weekend, here is hoping not!
GEESH, just made long post and it went poof, hit wrong dang button!
Amen. (to Barbara's prayer.)
Was wondering Betty how old is Noah? The fact he is wanting to reach out for help and also go to school is a really good sign.
Sounds like the job is too much for him...I am so glad he has you, his loving grandma to lean on. Not sure what i would have done with out my kids grandma.
Yes and tight hugs for Greg and Melanie too...I am sure they feel lost and confused on which way to move, do the counseling, the hardest part is over, (his call for help) so now the healing can begin. Getting to what the cause is will take tons of reassurance and lots of love and patience. But yes agreeing with Debbie, don't coddle. and for you my friend..come here to vent. We will take away as much hurt as we can. I pray Noah can release what the problem is SOON.
Debbie, Hope you are feeling better and getting in a good rest!
Susan, yikes, so glad Bob found the keys, lol in his pocket!!
Mary, hope the day goes well forr you, at least it's a nice short week.
Thanks for asking about the kids...Breenie is now done with school, think this year she will work during time off...
Jake, oh my gosh, not sure what each day brings, lol...he has finals in this very last week of high school! They graduate on Sunday, So trying to get the friends over for pics early, well see..OMG, we still don't have our tickets...He should have gotten them after the awards, he received 2, but no scholarship wins, big bummer.
right now he is going to practices for his BF Richards sisters catillia..He is in her "court" and they are practicing a dance...i find this to be funny since the boy has never liked to dance and now in a group, haha.
Dianne, puppy smooches for Deisels birthday! So glad the dizzies are going away. Birdie is doing ok...she still is much more calm since her run in with the building. She has a beauty of a scar on her pretty little forhead!! Didn't notice that until just recently. Poor birdie, but she has been staying far away from the doors...
Well, ive been busy, trying to clear the gardens, got to get them ready for the grad party. The weekend after fathers day.
Also took over the rental of the cottage! Geesh, what a chore, but it's fun. I booked four rentals!! We went and had a great weekend Joyce and Family came. The baby is just adorable. It was great to see Brandon, Nicole and Erini. It was there first time at the house, and they loved it..
Well, my fingers are killing me!! between, nails breaking so far back and freaking cramping up at any given time has caused much more time to get things done!
Linda kay, so glad your kids are ok, yikes those floods...Just hate turning news on with all thats going on, mind boggling.
Are you feeling better? sure hope so.
Waiving Hi Thunder!! Got to say i just loved all your photo's you shared of your granddaughters...How are they doing, Im sure you talk daily via skype?
Awe, bet you miss them terrible.
Oh My Gosh, Just loved all the floral picturs, sure brought smiles to my face. I am so,so excited that my Carols love is going to explode with flowers!! Lilac was in full bloom, the most I've ever seen...all the Iris are opening, even Steve couldn't help but notice. so today getting my plants in the ground...
