Boy Howdy, yes Ma'am. Finally got it through my thick head that quality was far more pleasurable than constantly fighting for quantity.....and so much easier on the body...GRIN

Pretty flowers Bev....know you must be so frustrated with all the wet and chill.

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Betty did you see the little tree frog in that photo??

Victoria Harbour, ON

omg Bev, I looked at all the daylillies, taking not ofthe pretty colors and was taken by how brilliant and nice those colors went together ..did not notice what was a center, clearly a 'frog' lol Jean, there is a thin tall plant I've been picking out in the hundreds, little bang for your dollar, hardly a flower on it.. here is hoping it is NOT something else lol

Betty, we are fine, we had about 2 inches of rain,, but San Antonio has bad flooding. We are fine.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

My goodness.... could NOT catch all the posts since last thread LOL U gals are Busy, Busy, Busy.....

Well, it was an "interesting" trip camping this weekend.......
We tried to switch dates, but we couldn't find any in that campground for other times, and we'd have lost some of the $$ cuz we were "late" trying to switch. Weather had some drizzly spots, but it was MUCH better than expected - as for the trip itself..
1st, we got the 2 gas tanks filled up, and by the time we were about 30 miles from the site, we only had 1/4 tank left in ONE. It was 1/8 tank by the time we got to the gas station not far from the campground. Then, we discovered the water was shut off at the site, and we could only get it from the main taps. We drove there, and when trying to fill, the water ran out and got the batteries wet - we couldn't start the motorhome. Someone from another site boosted us (the manager wouldn't) and we got back to the site ok. Good thing we had 2 camping water bottles with us!!!! The previous owner is coming by this afternoon to show us where the valve is, so we can shut it off....
Then I lost my watch, and I can't find my car/church key set..... I don't have a spare set for the church but I do for my car thank goodness. I bought another watch, and still on the lookout for my set of keys,
We called the previous owner of the motorhome, and he's coming by this afternoon to show us where the valve is, for the fresh water holding tanks.
oh, and we had a new experience - learning how to use the dumping station LOL
We've booked to go again June 16 to 21st - Bob has vacation (banked time which is paid) time coming to him - about a week - so it's all good. :-)

Victoria Harbour, ON

quite an experience Susan, glad it wasn't a total waste though, perhaps your next outing you will have all the kinks out of the camper, will have more of an idea of what needs done and you will have to find a hook to place all keys on lol I'm sure you will come across them at some point.

Lindakay, saw photo's on the news, wow is all I can say..does your son live near this area?

Debbie, worried about you girl, are you feeling a tad better?

Jim just told me paul has a bad cold as well, he could barely make Paul out when he called.

something is going around

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

lol I sure hope so, re: keys!!
Everytime we take out the motor home it gets better - learning curve!

Lyndonville, NY

Not doing any better, Doctors appointment first thing tomorrow...scheduled for allergy testing but have a feeling he will
say no way.

Enjoy your weekend.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wow Debbie, long time hanging on, glad you have a doctors appt tomorrow..
Bug going around but it seems a bit more than that.

Little Noah was here tonight, said he started at 4:30pm, no doubt as he had finished garden near back bedroom deck and had started and finished another..friend told him that he would sell him a shooter for $45 so I didn't pay him tonight, told him to come another few nights and he'd have enough..poor kid looked so tired.

I had mega plans but I distressed 8 mushrooms and skitters almost carried me away so inside I am for a quiet night.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Jean, I'd be more than happy to pay for postage...if you find a few more of those pretty bulbs.....

wonder if I had that lily bug too and did not realize??? most of my lilies did not come back last year?? only have a few, one that were in a different area.

Victoria Harbour, ON

thunder, very distructive the we're.

I had bought about 10 Lillie's from a lily grower set up at a market, wonder if they were on hers and without me knowing spread it to my gardens.. Bev had me hooked and I was doing so well..did they not just come up or was the tem eaten away?

Been reading but nowhere does it say if you don't have Lillie's for 2 or 3 years if the bug dies

wanna hear a funny? My mom got picked for Jury Duty - she's 94 and in a care home!!!! lol

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

According to these links, the Beetles do not bother daylilies, but are drawn to true liliums and fritillaries....and only eat non-lilium plants when the lilies that they are drawn to are gone....

Perhaps you could try a couple hemerocallis (daylilies) and see what happens.

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All ;

Betty I've only read about Weiglieas (wrong spelling) on DG... but I had a friend send me a pic of one last week wanting to know what it was.... interestingly... I was able to figure it out.....
So sad for Sharon.... maybe you can get Greg to come help with "to do" list ? We had a nice day... got to Gelato coffee shop and learned so much 11a - 2p then shopped on Magazine street ... drove to Pei Wei in Metairie and headed home....
BEV THANK YOU ! I definitely thought I had some orange daylilies that bloomed later than the rest last year but they were new to me.... hope to prove DH wrong... LOL... Love your beautiful pics !
Jean.... I thought about that this weekend.... how we are in the back yard every weekend. Labour of love for now but at some point we won't want to do this as much I suppose and will need to cut back..... You should come walk around and see if I have anything you want... although your yard probably puts mine to shame....
Susan Too funny that's one of the vacations you'll probably talk about for a long time..... but a learning process I suppose.... good thing you have a great perspective on it...
Where is Katie ?
HUGS DEB! Right when I think you can't take one more thing.... you are definitely a woman of steel.....

Got to keep a good chin up this week... covering for two people and trying to work myself. I glanced at my work email and she already has someone contacting me who needs something. Can't let witchy get the best of me...

HUGS to all,
Mary

Hope everyone had a great day.Goodnight!!!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Mary....I want the garden to return to a labor of love rather than a huge chore....grin Just have to rethink some things and do a little revamping....then I can sit in the garden without seeing a half dozen things that need doing....grin .....as for your week....I N C.....kill'er with calm efficiency....and a GRIN. Hugs

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, my sons lives about 30 miles west of San Antonio, it is a long commute back and forth to work everyday, but he loves living in the country. They got a lot of rain where they lived, but he lives up in the hill country, so no flooding at his place.
Susan, how funny they pick names for your Mom to serve on Judy duty. Are names picked from the drivers license office or from voter registration office?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

overcast, better a work day than the weekend..high temps for the rest of the week.

LindaKay it is chosen from voters list and random so no problem, a simple call to the courts and she will be take off the jury list. Something to consider when purchasing a home, be high up lol

Jean, what a hard thing to do, letting some of your gardens go..my gardens are not manicured, they are the english garden type, when in full growth barely soil to find..

Once Noah finishes the edging it will be easy for me, simply going out each night/morning and pulling a handfull of weeds, in no time it's done.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Jean, I so agree with having a garden where you can sit and enjoy! I think that is why I have move over to containers...that and the problem with tree roots making it difficult to dig. My containers change by the seasons and require much less care than the other way. Hope to finish a couple today.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Glad to hear your son and family are safe LK.

No formal gardens for me either Betty...I prefer a more relaxed easy feel to the landscape.

Marion, I hear ya on containers....I have a ton of succulents and orchids in containers and the tomatoes and peppers are also...makes it easier to control water for them....and easier to tend to them also.

Thunder....I would be happy to share with you. Just send me your address in D-Mail.

Hope you all have a lovely day

Victoria Harbour, ON

Jean and Marion, anyway of having a preview of your pretties..so love looking at everyone's gardens..I'll share when mine will be in bloom

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I think I can arrange to post some pictures of mine...some aren't really filled in so far but other are. Need to see where I have them filed.

Victoria Harbour, ON

thanks Marion, that way when I see you post and you say your are in your garden I know exactly where you are..nosey aren't I lol

I will call today to see how much a pad of slate is and what square footage it covers..wanted to measure my gazebo before leaving and forgot..almost sure it's 12x12 which means 144 sq feet.

Once that area is done, want to make an entrance into the eatery..hard to describe..I've two antique windows, want to set up holders at each end to hold an antique window and make it look like a gate entry..know you will never understand, I'm so confusing at times (most of the time) so will go in search of
photo

Verona, ON

Just stopping by to check up on everyone. I am in the middle of a horrendous dizzy spell - worst I have ever had. First on since Feb. 1 - here I thought they were behind me.

Have tried to read all will comment when I get my balance back. Loving the photos.
Dianne

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

sorry you have the dizzies Dianne, Hubs has them too....he has not had one in quite awhile.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sorry to hear as well Dianne that you are dizzy and off balance, what a terrible feeling! Have you called the doctor, maybe your equilibrium is off..

Just started to rain..

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Send me some rain please!

Dianne, so sorry you are having the dizzy spells.......I don't get them often but when I do they are wicked. I can only imagine how you must be feeling. Please take care.

Victoria Harbour, ON

gardens already lush and green after a few days of rain/sun last week, means cutting grass twice a week but it's nice seeing all the different colors of green..

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Dianne - are u feeling better? Dizzy spells are not fun................

well, BOB found my keys - they were in his pants pocket!! I told him he had them last, but "NO, I don't...." he couldn't remember my giving them to him to drive my car, cuz his keys to my car were at the house and we were running errands..... Sure did a lot of searching for 'em LOL Even phoned a campground in Michigan (same name as the one we were at ROFL). When they called back, we both had a good laugh about it - nice accent lol She said it would take 2 days to go to the Elkwood I was at, to search for my keys rofl

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lordy, leave it to DH's..lol

Debbie, are you back from the doctor's yet??? update before heading off to bed..

Lyndonville, NY

Just back Betty. I have pneumonia. I have antibiotics, an inhaler......and heading to bed.

My immune system is in the bucket, so will be sent for further testing when over the pneumonia.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Get some rest Debbie, hope your feeling better soon!

Victoria Harbour, ON

take care Debbie..off to bed you go! Now to reschedule your allergy tests..

Suzanne has same, using her inhaler, she should NOT be here but insists she must.

went to lunch early as Paul had clients coming in at 2pm..brrr windy and cold, says 64 out there but lordy feels in the 4's..should really have worn a jacket seeing as we just walked across the street instead of driving..

have sewn blocks across my desk, put sewing machine away while clients are here then might get an hour or so to sew again.

Thought the week would take forever but tomorrow I'll be half way there..soke to the girls at the house, all are sewing placemats..should have told them to try the singer machine I bought at the garage sale on Saturday, forgot..miss being home with them..

are you all getting over your long weekend activities?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Debbie - lots of rest is what's needed..... u need ur strength......!!!!!!!!!!!

Boy, was it EVER raining here... thunder, etc... big booms!
it's settling down now, but think it's heading to downtown where Bob works... and he rode his bicycle to work... well, it's an hour until he's off work, so maybe it will move past him by then...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Heartbroken, crying and overwhelmed..better add sick to my stomach.

Got home after work, opened the door and there was Noah saying 'hi grandma' oohh haven't seen him since mothers Day. Gave him a hug ans said what a pleasant surprise..

After a bit I said Noah, is there something going on..'my mom will call, she can explain it better'. Got us a drink and said Noah, I'd like you to tell me what is wrong, is it something going on at home, at school?

Said mom will explain it better but if ok I have to live here for a bit...

He no sooner finished saying that did Melanie call..Noah called a help line, suicide line asking for help last night..guess they talked Noah into telling Melanie..first thing this morning they were seeing a psychologist...

Noah is feeling overwhelmed at home and at school..she wanted to have him hospitalized unless Melanie/Greg could guarantee a safe house for him to live..so here he is..Greg/Melanie were told they can call, visit, even ave a short family visit

Greg/Mel are such good parents, kids are great just teen years and personality conflicts..been rough also with Kyle Avignon Asperger syndrome..

greg came in, can see the hrt in his eyes and his voice was so low, asked Noah if he wanted to go out shopping for a birthday gift for Melanie..should be back shortly

Melanie just came, talked, cried then went looking for any pills I might have, next to nothing but do have painkillers and excedrine migraine so put them in a bag and in my car.

Big sigh, wipe a tear..

Said it was up to me about him finishing the next 3 weeks of school and working a few hours a night and Saturday..

They will be home shortly so I'd better wash my face and give myself a shake

Sure could use some prayers

mulege, Mexico

Prayers in the air. hugs, katie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thanks Katie

Been a rough evening

Suzanne left at 4:30' sick as she was she was heading to the hospital as her sister, my SIL Marg's son was rushed in by ambulance having seizures and Suzanne wanted to be supportive. None of the others in the family give Allen a second thought since the incident with Robert a few months ago.

Then Roger's brothers' daughter who is 17 went to her friends cottage, 4 of them, seems the grandaughter found a bottle of liquor, seems grandfather had filled it with alcohol..young lady ded, not sure if Kimberley or the other girls might have tried it..

Sad/sad/sad

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

sending hugs and prayers....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thanks Thunder..

Settled in for the night, had some laughs with Noah, outwardly he's my Noah, how do these things go on mentally with no outward signs?? Melanie told me if Noah goes out its not to be for over an hour and he has to be aware that there is no not being back on time or we'll fret and I'm to call her/ Greg. Right away.

I truly am not sure with one visit that she has all these answers but I will certainly try my best ..

Tired, tried to close my eyes bit head is just a buzzing..will try again

Called my brother Mike, he is having surgery in the morning...what they are operating for is accalasia, normally treatable without surgery, wouldn't you know its surgery for him. Said it must be life and death if I've taken the time to call him..Kim will call me after the operation tomorrow.

Glenview, IL
