I planted some crisphead lettuce seeds in February and they were doing very well. I eventually transplanted them in larger pots and watered them from the bottom every day. A few weeks ago I started harvesting the outer leaves, but I have now noticed that the head has gone soggy and rotten. This was after a couple of days of hot sandy wind. I've read that crisphead lettuce is very difficult to grow in hot weather, so I'm guessing it's not enjoying the hot sunny days. I'm trying to find a loose leaf variety that tolerates heat more, but would appreciate receiving some suggestions as to what specific type I should look for. Thanks.
Lettuce Problems!
I don't know of any lettace that likes hot weather.
