I have a silvery fir tree tomato plant and a golden sundrop tomato plant. I have limited space outside so if i plant them close together will they be cross pollinated? Or should i put them as far away from eachother as possible?
Do these tomato varieties hybridize?
If the two plants are in close proximity to each other the chance they will cross polinate is very real. If your concern is that the fruit will be altered in some way that should not happen this year. If you are attempting to save seed however the seed from this years fruit if cross pollination occurs would be a hybrid and there is a chance that the fruit could be altered in some way next time the seed is planted. You may very well come up with tomato superior to the parents. Hope this helps.
