Apple tree issues

2nd post for the day...
I have an apple tree (we've had it for about 4-5 years now). It flowered this year for the second time. I just noticed that quite a bit of the new growth seems to be dying off. Leaves wilted and browning, limb shrivelling...
Any ideas? Last year we had a horrible time with aphids, but none this year. No other bug pests that I have seen.
I'll post a picture later.
